Gave a goliath away (for cheap) when I started one stixing, using the (S.M.A.R.T. climbing method) Had it for yrs. I will always have feelings for her, but don't miss her one bit. Glad she's gone. It's like a party all the time now lol. Drop your summit platform while sitting on that the BAR, (yours looked a lot better), and holding on, trying to balance with one hand, pulling up with the other (with it snagging). I struggled for 5min. felt like an hour! Of course, it was when I just started down. Ok sorry I'm done have good day.
Nice video but not a fan of the sitting part you want to blend in with the trunk and tree not be 2 feet away from the tree where you stick out like a human in a tree
tomkat 2 is the best for me-face either way-they dont make em anymore but every hunter i ever seen had one in their truck thinks like i do-yall can keep them cable climbers-i bout a summit to go hunt kentucky w a bow and for one all that padding has to hold scent-cant face the tree-just my 2dollars worth-adj for bidennomics
I'm 68 and my first was just like your MKM stand. I'm in a Cougar Claw now after years in a Summit. I consider my Summits and my Cougar Claw to be very safe stands, particularly after add ing the ThirdHand Archery stabilizer straps that basically lock the stand in position once you are at your hunting height. I almost bought an Equalizer stand but then I discovered the Cougar Claw and liked it even better. The Cougar Claw is also adjustable as you go and has an almost failsafe method for adjusting; no gears or cranks involved. I would never use the MKM stand now and actually threw mine away a LONG time ago.
Mr. 22 I hope this note finds you well. 3 years, 54k views and I don't see a reply. Well... I'm 68 and at the end of my useful tree stand service life I fear though I'm prolly gonna have another year of it. Crazy! Kinda wish I had of made acquaintance with your brand...the Buckshot, I believe, back in the day. It's a new design to me. When I started using treestands, besides trudging 3 miles through ten foot of snow (just made that up) we had to make our own. Fact. I was lighter then so old bed rails would suffice for the iron furniture. Time moves on and we moved onto angle iron and finally aluminum. I've had my API Grand Slam prolly since they started selling the thing. I also have one more thing that I have never seen on any YT video. I sorta invented a way of getting down safely in case of a slip or treestand failure. Even the modern prussic knot will leave a climber type hanging with nothing to grab onto. I call my super simple system the 'Treestand Elevator' and it's as simple as carabiner and a stout rope. I always thought I'd make a million bucks with it, but I gave up. Tree stand safety is not something the little feller can do. I had described it to a treestand maker or two...just gave it away...but no takers. Wouldn't take much R&D to package it.
I own an Equalizer and it is a super well made, rock solid climber. I agree with the other commenters that with such a great design they should advertise more. I won't climb without the ability to level on the fly like these do.
It depends what you get used to, Jim. I'm 54 and not in great physical shape. I bought a Summit 3 years ago and I love it! I have no complaints about it. It's perfect as far as I'm concerned.
Watching this in 2021, and I have to admit I myself have also adjusted my stand on the fly half way up a tree! Don't do it anymore though, and I really like to know how many of us climbers are guilty of it and just don't want to come out and say it?
I bought one two years ago, bought another one last month! absolutely a great stand, rock solid, the adjustability is second to non, and offers an added measure of safety not offered in other stands!! I've owned Baker, loggy,Ameristep, Ol Man, Summitt, Tree Walker. Hands down EQUALIZER is a great stand. The tree walker is awesome, no longer made though. I'm 66 years old and absolutely love this over ANY PLATFORM or LADDER STAND!
I have used so many climbers its unreal.....I am very fond of the Ameristep Non-Typical climber. I have been using it for 15 years and are not made anymore or replacement parts. I just found my new climber that I was unaware of. Thank you Sir and God bless.
I have owned almost every stand as well and I feel safer in the equalizer than anything else. If I was not afraid of heights I would use a lone wolf hand climber
Great video. I have mine since the day they were first made available as the "Equalizer" probably 20 years ago. I have switched to saddle hunting 4 years ago but climb via a rope. Lots of trees dont have a limb to throw a rope over so I use my Equalizer to put a tree step in place of a limb and hang a paracord loop to pull up my rope at another date. Needless to say I hunt out of the stand that day.
I think you for posting this video! I have hunted out of one of these years ago before they made it self leveling, and never could remember the name of it. I will be getting this Buckshot Equalizer with arm/back rest attachment, I really like it having 3 options of seat placement. I like my Summit climber, but find it difficult to shoot behind me or at certain angles in a Summit.
Hey, thank you. I saw this video and purchased an equalizer. I received it yesterday and assembled. I’m looking forward to getting use to using it this off season! Thanks again for putting this video out. The equalizer is made here in NC but, I had not heard of it. I guess the sticks and hang on stands are getting more attention these days.
@@jarrodhaynes5606 Sorry to hear about that. I picked a used one up on Craigslist yesterday for $70. Repainting it now. I now have 4 of them. Leave them up (locked) all season. Take care and good luck!!

Good video. I disagree on choice tho. Ive had a Buckshot and the Buckshot Bigshot. I much prefer a summit any day of the week . Thanks for the video.
