My boss at my first job bought one of these back in 1985. I drove it to do errands for him and was in awe of how solid and well planted to the ground it felt. It also rode smooth like a cloud and everything in it worked. The ac was always ice cold.

My son is special needs and he loves classic automobiles 🚘🚗🚘🚙🚖🚕 he says: "They don't make them like that anymore." But wishes they would with no microprocessors in them just pure mechanics and with character and style.

El papá de mi mejor amigo en Venezuela tenía uno , y recuerdo con claridad que para introducir la llave en la maleta o el parte trasera tenías que girar el emblema LTD , el mismo emblema que está en los laterales del techo . No sé si este lo diga, pero las tasas de las ruedas decían Ford Motor Company , y carburador o la tapa decía 400 , su carburador de 4 bocas acelerarlo en la autopista era un placer , en la ciudad su dirección era muy suave , disfrutaba manejar ese auto

I had the same exact same thing, it's a great car, very comfortable to use, very enjoyable

Had one exactly the same color (ginger glow brown) and pillared brougham. The only feature that was different was the side molding was put on at the mid crease, so you did not have the molding separate from the crease. It looked more elegant that way. 400 CID V-8. It also had the optional front cornering turn lights.

The standard engine was 351 2 barrel which was known as The Windsor you could also go to 400 and 429 in that year the 460 was not available

Yes definitely the most comfortable full-sized car of the time and the ones without the pillar were called a four-door hardtop far above the Caprice and the fury as far as quietness and comfort the fury had better handling but not much else

I liked the LTD series.. My grandfather retired from Ford & bought several . He had a 72 , same color . My dad was a diehard GM man & bought the most stripped down Chevy produced.. But my grandfather enjoyed his power windows, seats , A.C. , ect. I was in high school before my dad bought a car with A.C. I remember in my freshman yr , my dad bought a used 69 Ford station wagon that was loaded... It had a 429 & all the bells & whistles . We immediately went on a cross country vacation.. Loved it... A few yrs earlier , we crossed the SW deserts in a 65 Chevy wagon. No A.C. & crank windows. Five kids stuffed in a wagon & a nonstop drive from Tenn to Az ended my mother making that trip again. That is until the 69 ford wagon... The A.C. made it thoroughly enjoyable.. Even in July..!

I like this LTD design far better than the impact bumber model design.

This is the four door frameless window with center post. I remember ordering one brand new !

351, 390, 400, or 429?

In 1971 I was 16 and went with my dad to buy a new LTD. We looked and looked until finally the salesman showed us a car that someone special ordered and didn't take delivery. It was black, black vinyl top, burgundy interior. 429 4 bbl, traiier tow pkg. which had, 3.90 gears, HD brakes, alternator, battery etc. It was beautiful. I used to race small block Cameros and kick their butt. Got my cherry popped at the drive in in it to top it off. My dad sold it and they totaled it. If they hadn't done that I'd track it down and restore it. Some of my best childhood memories were made in that car.

Sadly all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.
