Newcomer here: What happens if I lose? Should I reload and keep doing so until I win? I just got my horse and am Supposed to travel to Neuhof when would you recommend I try out tourneys
Thanks for the question 🙂. If you lose, you would forfeit the enrolment (60g) and the lodgement (120g) if you time skipped. Early on I might reload if money is tight, and I lost early and didn't gain much xp. How confident do you feel with the combat? Without knowing your stats, I'd recommend training with Bernard to get the basics down, get some levels in a weapon type or two (I picked up maces early), and a few levels in the other combat skills. Learn masterstrike from Bernard (you have to beat him in a fight to learn it). If you don't get his explanation of how it works (I didn't), I'd check out a video that explains it. Also, pick up the Clinch Master perk. Hope that helps.
@@turismo_gaming thanks! I’m semi confident. I have played it on and off again since 2015, last time I made it to the missions in Sasau with counterfeit coin but its like 4 years ago 😅 I started a new game a few days ago, so farily new in rememebering all the basics but I’m not completely clueless haha Why the mace though? Is that a particularily good weapon I’ve slept on? I would say im at that point where it feels like you are running back and forth repeairing, bathing, buying food, timing sleeps and saving on savior schnapps while ever so slightly saving up coin
Oh you have already played past baptism of fire previously, so you would be pretty experienced. Maces focus on blunt damage which is particularly effective against armoured enemies (like the tourney competitors). For food I usually eat from the pots lol (25 nourishment).. I know, pretty boring roleplaying by me. And similarly try to avoid SS by sleeping in beds. You picked a great time to get back into the game 🙂
The armor is well worth doing the tourney all on its own- the last reward of all of them is what's arguably the best sword in the game, but honestly I'd only do the tourney for the armor. You can get the sword in a chest in the woods, so I rather do that then win like 25 or something tourneys in a row for it.
I play on Xbox and even main quest achievements are considered legendary because no one bothered to complete it
I am unfamiliar with Xbox achievements (not owned one since 360) but this made me curious. Apologies if I get this wrong, it seems achievements have gamerscores of 5-100 with 1000 total for a base game? I saw that most main quest achievements have 15 and The End is 75. Are these high amounts for main quests compared with other RPGs or similar games?
He speaks facts. The tournament is most valuable early game as a training arena, not as an endgame activity. With master strike and a little defence leveling it's easy to ALWAYS win. Run, turn, counter, repeat. Easy gear, money, skills, and reputation. Nice job with the video. It's a good PSA for those that may be apprehensive to try it out.
Thank you for the feedback and thoughtful comment 🙂. Hopefully it encourages those who may have been hesitant to give it another look.
The armor you get from it is arguably the best armor in the entire game. Amazing defense and also bonuses to your stats that help you talk with people.
Kills made by mutt dont count. Ive played a whole game, doing all the bounty quests, using mutt and my bare hands, all to get the merciful achievement
Thanks for sharing 🙂. If you don't mind me asking, how did the fight with Peter go? Did you weaken him first and Mutt finished him off, or?
@@turismo_gaming exactly so. Just corner him and/or jab him repeatedly. Try not to let stamina deplete below half or his poison likely will set. Once you knock him out, remove his armor. Then, if you wait, he'll eventually recover and you can sic mutt on him at that point and mutt will one shot him
When u look at the percentage of achievements unlocked on steam u can get the impression that 80-90% of players have barley did anything besides the main story line. Actually pretty sad and pathetic.
It's a shame considering how good the side content is. While the steam achievement unlocks are pretty unimpressive they are even worse on PSN.
@@turismo_gaming Yea its really sad. I literally bought the game one and a half months ago and have finished it two times on normal and hardcore with all negative perks and right now I am doing me third an last playtrough for the merciful achievement. Everytime I unlock an achievement I am surprised how few people unlocked the same Achievement. It's just sad.
Nice! You are smashing it. Perfect timing with the sequel coming 🙂 Did you manage to get it while it was on discount? Speaking of the sequel, I am interested to see what the achievement/trophy rates will look like over time, now with a dedicated community, and I'm assuming a way more polished experience at launch. Time will tell.
@@turismo_gaming Yea i did get it while it was on discount. Also bought all DLC immediately. No regrets. :D I am also pretty excited for everything involving the second Game. ^^
This game is crazy. 😝
I know right, isn't it awesome 🙂
i never really thought about participating in the rournament, but you helped me see that it's totally worth it :D
Thanks for the comment 🙂 I think it can be easily overlooked. I first did it unprompted by any of the 3 related side quests. Once I had done those quests I felt properly introduced to it and it became a regular part of my KCD sessions
I didn't even know we had a civilian kill counter until just now
Isn't it awesome how all the various stats are tracked and available to the player
Incredible! I can’t wait to do this, I just started this game 2 weeks ago and haven’t really looked at any guides, so I started picking flowers as I felt really useless and that really was the best I could do lol but now I’m a wealthy potion seller with good gear. I haven’t done much main story yet, I still have to see the fella and tell him about his sword getting stolen. I tried to go back to Skallitz to get it back! Any tips on combat would be great, those bandits in Skallitz are tough as nails!
Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you liked the vid, but more importantly that you are enjoying KCD! 🙂 I am planning a video on combat, but some tips.. Train with Bernard to get the basics down, gain some levels in combat skills, and learn masterstrike. Get comfortable using a bow to help reduce numbers from distance when up against a group. Similarly, try to avoid fighting multiple enemies at once. Understand each type of weapon, weapon damage, and when to use each so for example maces do blunt damage which is good against armour. I won't go into all the perks but the two covered in the vid are strongly recommended. You can reset perks with a potion. If you are interested in returning to Skalitz you can search Skalitz farming, there's actually a comment thread here that mentions it, but there's no rush to do that. Lastly with quests, some are timed so it's good to check which, so you don't get sidetracked while completing those. Hope that helps!
@@turismo_gaming looking forward to that combat video! Thank you very much for the tips!
You are very welcome. It's an awesome game to play, create content on, and discuss with other gamers 🙂
My fight against runt was easy one arrow to the head kills him I took 2 hour from the start of that mission to make it there I just kept dying to the archers
Yeah he can be a bit of a push over after the time and effort to get to him right? 😂 That's interesting I didn't have the same issue with the archers, I usually just shoot them when instructed to. I wonder if it's cuz I sabotage the arrows during Nest of Vipers?
Heck yeah when you defeat him regularly you can't loot him . That's a good way to make a little extra in-game cash. But if you want before you start that mission baptism of fire you can go to that place almost every 5th in game day in opposition will respond and you can eliminate them and sell their gear and farm it
Nice thanks for the tip! I've never actually visited Pribyslavitz before starting Nest of Vipers. I will have to try it next time.
@@turismo_gaming yeah you can do the same farming with skalets. I have to run beats up Henry take a horse and a good saddle or something stay on your horse defeat the heavy knights and go to the nearest inn can you use the player box to store your goods
@@jupiteroptimusmaximus4527 Thanks for sharing. I was aware of the Skalitz farming, you can make some crazy money doing that!

I'm on v1.9.3 on PS with all DLCs. I thought later versions were modding and language support for PC only, let me know if I'm mistaken.
@@turismo_gaming Well, when i knock him out the other contenders awaken and the tourney fails.
@@RossTheLoss Thanks that's interesting, there is another thread about Peter being alerted when sneaking at the ambush point. There I said my stealth was 7 at the time. In the video I also show to remove armour. I captured this gameplay on my PS5 a couple days before publishing (v1.9.3)
@@turismo_gaming Well i had no armor on only silent shoes and my stealth is level 18.
I'm unsure tbh.. I did the steps in the vid multiple times to check it was repeatable, while capturing the gameplay. If you want to share your platform and version no I would be happy to do some digging to try and understand more 🙂
Damn, great video thx!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
Managed to do this accidentally during the hardcore playthrough. He wears a helmet in hardcore. Didn't help 😊
I have not done this myself yet, but was aware he wears a helmet. Awesome to know it works in HC too thanks 🙂
The first ever time I fought him the fight was 10 minutes long and the ambush caught me off guard and nearly fucked by the time Henry recovered But I had a secret weapon, guard’s spear that he dropped to equip a torch Peter did not survive
Lol that is awesome! I was so confused the first time I was ambushed as I hadn't started Dead Men Tell No Tales yet and was missing the context. I fought him normally, was poisoned and died. I have not tried a poleman/spear against him... I would think the extra distance, and inability for him to master strike would help? Thanks for sharing 🙂
Avoid? Bro, I showed that bastard not to be an asshole
I chose to kill him in my current playthrough (it's at the end of the vid). I guess there's lots of vids of people dealing with him head on, I wanted to show other options, particularly if viewers are struggling with him, or trying to keep clean kill stats. I agree it's not as fun to avoid, or let him off the hook 🙂
@@turismo_gaming I understand, it's cool to have options.
Fighting this guy was a pain and I had master strikes and block.
How did you end up dealing with him? Directly or stealth or another way? For direct, I found I had the best success with maces and longswords.
@@turismo_gaming I used the long sword and just tried to block every shot, if they didn't telegraph the attacks I wouldn't have been able to do it. Got him against the wall of the shed where Henry beds Theresa and kept clinching and pushing him towards the wall so he doesn't get too far then I strike his head to try get the nutcracker perk going. He still managed to strike me a few times so by the time he died i had to sprint into the mill and check what potions I had in my chest before the poison got me. Tldr: tried my best to cheese him with clinching and head shots.
Nice! Thanks for explaining. Similar experience, I usually try to keep him near the ambush spot as I wasn't sure of the impact on Peshek/Theresa and any randoms walking past. I had some success avoiding the poisoning by keeping my stamina high, and being patient attacking, but not reliably enough to include in the vid.
This is weird, you sneak up to him in full armor? I tried this recently and whatever I was wearing or how careful I was, he always got alerted and attacked, there was absolutely no way I could sneak up to him. Do you know the stealth skill you had at that point?
Great point! I talked about reducing noise in the first location, but omitted in the second... I will find out
@@turismo_gaming Thanks, I'm not perfectly sure what lvl my Henry was but it was the first or second tourney, I roleplayed a 'good' Henry without any thievery and wasn't at any bandit camp or to Pribyslavitz at the time, so Stealth must've been quite low. I do remember that I couldn't defeat Peter with the Shard I had (cause you need hundreds of hits and can't be hit once) so, after a dozen tries I gave it up and rode him down.
So at this point stealth was 7. For this playthrough I have not done much roleplaying so my Henry would be similar to the average viewer for a regular playthrough. My combat skills are greater than 10 on average, and other skills less than 10 on avg (lockpick 6, pickpocket 5). Thanks for this feedback. I will try to make levels and gear clearer in future vids as it can really impact if viewers can follow and copy what I do in the vid, or not.
@@turismo_gaming Thanks, my Stealth lvl was probably around 2-3, maybe even just 1, next run I'll check if that was the only problem.
No not only do I kill him I saved the game and reload killing him at least 10 times a playthrough I play the merciless playthrough. I 1400 kills 500 being civilians. Skiltaz made my Henry's heart turn cold.
First time I was ambushed I was so confused as I was missing the context. After I had done Dead Men Tell No Tales side quest, then it made sense and it was fun messing with him 🙂 That being said I haven't done a merciless playthrough yet, 1400 kills is massive!
Hit him with his own poison sword.
Thanks for sharing! Yes nice poetic justice 🙂
That is how I beat most of my hand to hand fights, I just keep spamming jab till they back into a corner then clinch them to death lol
I really like the clinch mechanic and perks. I wonder what changes (if any) they will make in KCD2.
@@turismo_gaming I hope they add a reticle for the bow or like an option to add have one turned on it the setting menu
Awesome idea! Optional would be great imo to better satisfy long time players and newcomers. Perhaps for HC it's then disabled.
I never thought to do this so that you can actually loot him. Your Black Peter video was good too.
Thanks a lot for the feedback! 🙂 I try to find topics not already covered on YT. But a bit hard for a 6ish year old game. Fortunately KCD is awesome and fun to cover.
Henry: i'm about to end this man's whole career.
Time to steal all his stuff (twice) and send him packing in his underwear! 🤣
I think I'm far ahead at this point that I won't be able to go back and do it, but this was quite informative to me. So thank you so much for the informative video.
Thanks! Glad you found it informative. Hopefully it comes in handy if you do another playthrough
W vids man, keep them coming.
Thanks man, I've got some more KCD videos in the works
Damn talk about an humble ass beating
It's a bit of a power trip, after the prologue beat down. I also really like the clinch mechanic and related perks 🙂
I played a hardcore peasant Henry with a bunch of debuffs. Only things I’d levelled were speech, agility from all the jumping, herbalism for leg day and alchemy. Every fight was awful, would end up kiting people into villages and getting the guards to help like a pussy xD
That's awesome, really inspired role playing! Was it a complete playthrough or just partial?
@@turismo_gaming I do like a good theme and to set limitations for myself. It wasn’t a complete play through, did as many random side quests as I could without serious combat got Pribyslavitz and then stopped questing and just built the town. Then my housemate got Bannerlord and I’ve strayed for too long. I’m going back to KCD tomorrow, I’ve missed it. I’m thinking poverty stricken, crippled beggar Henry, all the negative, pickpocketing, drinking and try for the dice throwing perk eventually. Take the dog to make people feel sorry for me and only use a bludgeon by pretending it’s just a stick for the dog 😂
@@mrbritish6673 There are so many opportunities for role playing and different ways to do stuff, makes it hard to put down. Especially knowing the sequel is coming soon. I haven't got round to Bannerlord (yet..) been playing DD2 but it hasn't grabbed me yet, I keep just flipping back to KCD 😆
That's really amazing, I've never tried this before. But it's true that it's a lot weaker than the prologue.
Thanks for the comment 🙂 Do you mean Runt is a lot weaker? I agree. I guess unless you grind levels in Skalitz, Runt would usually beat the player easily in the prologue, and then Henry levels up ready for this encounter, which gives you a nice feeling of progression.
If you dont care about his loot you can one hit him in the face with a bow.
Nice tip particularly if anyone is struggling to melee him 🙂
By the time I fought this Prick I was maxed in all skills, have hundreds of thousands dollars, best armor and weapon so I melted him in about a 10 seconds lmaooo
Nice, did you intentionally level and gear up for it? Or just had too much fun exploring and side content before returning to the main quest? That happens to me
@@turismo_gaming I leveled up all my stats except for lock pick and archery before the attack on the village. After the village I just went to lvl up my lock pick and archery then looked for all the war horse armor , sword in the max chest and started doing sides quests and did the dlc’s before doing any of the main missions really. Did all the duels and gut the armor for it. Guy the best armor form the old man and saved everyone else in the dlc and just breezed through the main story once I got to it. I may have like 4 or 5 side missions left to do after I finished the main story . But I left those be because I’ll hit them off when part 2 is about to come out
I literally left and trained to level 15 in warfare and sword so I can beat the hell out of some bandits cant wait to beat runt
Good plan! You might also want to consider leveling mace if you haven't already, they are effective against enemies wearing armour.
In the Prologue I nearly beat him until one of his friends jumped in.
Nice! 🙂 You must have been pretty OP early or skilled at combat, or both? I think I've seen a video where his health is depleted and the fight continues as normal until the cutscene 😆
I don't think you can actually beat him there, he seems to have infinite health.
@@johntheknight3062In prologue he is a protected person with a minimum of 1 health, but it goes to break his personal stats, for example he won't be able to run.
You can kill his friends by jumping on carriage and shooting them with bow but Runt is immortal in prologue. Whole story line about sword wouldnt make sense...
@@4Core100 If you can kill his friends, are they then present in the cutscene?
Brilliant!
caved his head in with a mace - dumbass doesn't wear a helmet
2:05 there's someone punching in the air
When in doubt, Punch it out. Never underestimate the power of melee in this game.
Master strike these hands!!
I cant find the marking of that place even on the map
If you have not found the map yet, are you able to follow the directions at 0:26 in the video to Henrietta's Hideaway or that location if you don't have the map icon yet?
I dont want to beat you, I want to embarrass you
My thoughts exactly 😆
just steal items from sleeping toruney participants, no skill needed and you get a few thousand easily
Thanks for sharing 🙂 Do you knock them out and loot them, or pick pocket them while sleeping?
@@turismo_gaming knock them out, you can't pickpocket armor

Rob the Rattay swordsmith after he goes to bed, hide the loot in the chest in Rattay Mill, get arrested and tossed in jail for 10 days (murder always works best), then the loot wont be hot. PRESTO! Sell his crap back to him 😆
Thanks for sharing 🙂 is the chest you are referring to the one next to Henry's bed? Also, is there a reason you don't just sell the swordsmith's stuff to Peshek?
@turismo_gaming Yes the chest next to the bed. I tried selling the stolen goods to Peshek, it won't let me. I don't know why.
@@Nightmarefuel66 Thanks for confirming. Wow that's interesting, I assume you already completed The Good Thief side quest? Or is that still in your quest log? 🤔
@turismo_gaming if you mean all the theft quests from Peshek, then yes. Like the last one is stealing that book from Hunish or whatever the hell his name is. The king dude or something.
@@Nightmarefuel66 Kind of, The Good Thief is one of the first side quests you get access to waking up in Rattay Mill. The purpose is to repay Peshek for taking care of you after the Runt beating. You need to get a ring from the Executioner and give it to another miller. This quest lets you sell stolen stuff to Peshek (I have a video on it)
I would add Finishing Touches, no in game tracker to know which enemies you missed!! But these 3 are up there for sure!
That's true, I tracked those myself external to the game. Fortunately you just have to use Ancient Magic on the enemies, not also to finish them off 🙂
Also when playing dice I like to use 2 heavenly kingdom dice, 3 lucky playing dice and one lucky dice. You can use them all together. Then bet maximum. You basically cannot lose
Thanks for sharing this dice tip. Do you get the Perfect Throw agility perk as well? Or just use special dice?
@@turismo_gaming I just got the dice and because it’s so successful you can use that perk point on something else! I’ve won more than 30 games in a row now, unfortunately you clean out the other gamblers and they seem to stop coming back. Maybe they show up with more money later? 🤷🏼♂️
@@user-ct4yr9ke7h You could try betting a few groschen less than the gambler's maximum to see if they hang around for more games, but likely need to wait for some time to pass for them to improve their finances, similar to fighting the brawlers like I show in the video, if you give them some time off between beat downs they will be carrying a relatively higher amount
@@turismo_gaming I think k you might be right there with the gamblers too. I let one guy go to get on with a few tasks and he didn’t have as much as before but he had more than he did when I left him last… The others I knocked out and stole their money and dice 🤣
The thing I like to do to make using a bow so much easier is when you are unarmed there’s a yellow dot in the centre of the screen. I take a bit of painters tape and put a cross over the yellow dot so when it disappears when selecting the bow you have a nice little guide to work with. Your first arrow gives you an idea of how much higher you need to aim but after that you should get bullseyes every time. Then you can compete at the most advanced level and earn maximum groschen. It’s not a secret but a lot of people aren’t aware still. 😊
Wow that's rather out of the box thinking! I know the yellow dot you are referring to. I'm a console exclusive gamer and the TV I use is also used by my wife and kid, so I probably cant stick anything on it 😅 but hopefully others can benefit from this tip! I have used the dot to try and get my aiming on point at the start of a contest though.
I just enabled the cross hair while using a bow using a command.
Great video!
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked it 🙂
Don’t sleep on alchemy, if you grind up to level 10 or 13 you can be making up to 40k per trip selling Lazarus potions. There are big patches of comfrey and valerian in the flower patches on the way from rattay to neuhof
Thanks for sharing this Alchemy tip 🙂
Technically, this is all under the category of gambling. The fights and archery are essentially gambling. I definitely advocate for the archery contests if you are using a reticule or just know how to always hit the bull with a half draw. 21 arrows take about 60 seconds to fire and you're getting 210 from a 70 investment. I also think the Rattay tournament is a natural next step from Bernard's master strike training (which is also gambling with gambling sprinkled on top if you go to peshek for a little wager). Aside from mugging the poor brawlers this is a good early list of legal money schemes.
Thanks for the insightful comment. That's true, you are making a wager in each activity. I am a console exclusive gamer, and found combat and hunting with the bow rather challenging until I did the contest a stack of times. As for brawling, I like being able to level a range of combat related skills in a relatively safe and repeatable manner, although I suppose that's similar to training with Bernard (without the looting) but then you don't get to beat up Milan 🙂
Alright smart arse
