Great to see your back and congratulations to the new addition to the family. Question for you, we just did a tour of the Piper factory and working with a salesman in San Antonio area. We wanted to buy a m350 but I did not fit while trying to get into the pilot seat. I’m 6’4” 290 lbs and 58 years old. How do you squeeze yourself into the pilot seat. My biggest fear is that I would break something. Do you have a technique to get in. Heck I lost 30lbs just for this plane. Also I have been losing more weight trying to get down to 260lbs to make things a little easier. Comments my friend on this matter what greatly be expected.
The biggest complaint for the M-Class (M350/500/600/700) is the squeeze into the cockpit, particularly climbing over the wing spar. Backing in, sitting, and then swiveling your feet in seems to be the approach that works best. Karen and I both go in head first with our seat side foot leading the way (pilot leads with left foot, first officer leads with right foot). No matter how you slice it, 6'4 and 260+ is going to be a tight squeeze. I'm 6'0 220 and it's ok, but not spacious. Try again - try the back in technique and good luck! AD
Yeah you should not be using camguard until at least after the first oil change and when break in is complete

It was a bit scary for a moment. Good training helped to keep our cool. When we landed we jumped in another plane and headed off on our planned journey. Crazy day!
So you put flaps down to 30 for the preflight like normal. I'd suggest after engine start when you retract flaps, look out the window and make sure they actually come up. Good job handling the emergency though.
Hi Mike, Thanks for your comment and suggestion. That's exactly what we did. We did a thorough preflight, checking flap extension to 30 degrees followed by retraction. We also checked linkages & took off out of KSDL with no issue. Went to KDVT and did one touch and go with flaps 30 on landing, and then retracted flaps like normal on the roll. It wasn't until the 2nd touch and go that the flaps wouldn't retract. It was a pretty unfortunate timing of events that caused the failure of the flaps motor.

What was the cause of the flap retraction failure?
Great question! We never got a firm answer, but after talking to the rental manager/owner of the plane, it was most likely the flap motor that failed. We had a successful flap retraction on the prior touch and go but the 2nd attempt resulted in the full flap extension.
We picked up our M350 new in June 2021 and have put ~ 450 hours on the aircraft since then, you will not be disappointed.
Congrats!! We love it so far and can't wait for the new adventures to begin!

The Baron is a beautiful plane too! The biggest reason we didn't choose a Baron was that we wanted to stay with a pressurized single. We think she's a beauty too - THANKS!!
Fair enough. I have some Baron time, no M350 time. Both on my short list. I am told a good used Baron is about $650.@@KoupledApproach
@grafhilgenhurst9717 Neck deep in training - I've got a whopping 17 hours and Karen hit all of 11 hours before being grounded until post baby Ari's delivery. Enjoy finding your gem and fly safe!!

Based on the "Easter Egg" hint, I will choose a name related to a lion, perhaps Ariella? A name with Hebrew origins that translates to "lion of God." Or, maybe your baby girl's name is Nala, from the "Lion King?" Of course, I could be completely wrong, but I don't mind trying and playing along! 🙂

The Giant numbers are runway indicators. It's a really bad day to takeoff or land on the wrong runway! 😕 There are other numbers too! Good idea for content!
