Proverbs 3:9-10 (NKJV) "Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine." The term "increase" isn't monetary. It's a reference to what the land yielded. And the "first fruits" weren't tithes (Deuteronomy 26:2-4). They were heave offerings of produce brought to the temple for consumption. Leviticus 27 identifies tithes from either the tithe of the land or the tithe of the herd. All from within Israel. All from what the landed yielded. The tithe indictment in Malachi 3 can't be universally applied either historically or currently. The narrative in Malachi is confined to Israel in Malachi 1:1 and it's further narrowed towards the Levitical Priests in Malachi 1:6 and 2:1. It was the Priests being charged with not bringing the whole of the tithe items, likely keep the better parts for themselves. And once, again, nothing to do with money. So, no, no one today is admonished to "test God" by paying money to a religious institution and the "windows of heaven" is a reference to rain, not money. Today's version of tithing from earned wages carries no biblical precedent. Deuteronomy 14:22-23 (NKJV) "You shall truly tithe all the increase of your grain that the field produces year by year. And you shall eat before the Lord your God, in the place where He chooses to make His name abide, the tithe of your grain and your new wine and your oil, of the firstborn of your herds and your flocks, that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always." That says nothing about paying money to a religious institution. Does tithing make me mad? No, but extortion does. There’s nothing wrong with tithing as a discretionary act of systematic giving. The problem arises when people are manipulated by a false doctrine that claims that tithing is a biblical, universal mandate that requires everyone to continually pay 10% of their earnings to a religious institution. This is a false claim that exploits people, particularly the less fortunate, and those are the very people we should be helping, not exploiting. Nothing in the Bible binds the believer to pay 10% of their earned income to a religious institution for the rest of their life. We're free to give, not bound to pay.

The Holy Spirit lives within a true follower of Jesus Christ. He is not waiting up above you somewhere just hoping for you to allow Him to work in your life. He works in our lives to bring us closer to our Lord or convicting us, letting us know that we need to pray and draw closer to Christ.

Stop blaming culture for the churches failures. First of all the commandment was to go into all the world, preaching and teaching and bringing the gospel and spreading the good news to the poor. Did it say go recruit membership to your church and collect ties and offerings and all of that don’t focus on nobody’s salvation or deliverance or anything like that so the church has to at some point become responsible for its failing, y’all stop making this world and how bad it is about the sinners and the sinners only when the absence of the Christian gets no play in the problems we facing. The time to come out of your pulpits and minister to the people has passed. This is a season where God and God alone can fix it because the church has failed.
