I didn't like losing the look of the missing number fins. So I just Dremeled the tub a little bit to fit in the number fins.
Love my H10, as for upgrades. Got the Fusion Pro, Reefs 555, Reefs servo winch, H-Tech bumpstops, same tub and fuel cell as yours but in red, rear shock tower rack from same seller, Vanquish Riots with all the fancy rings, pinless 3d print battery trays. My next upgrade is some BAMF 3d print inserts. And eventually a set of Proline Azteks. The H-tech alum panels look amazing. But Im into stickers, decals, and the sponsership liveries. So I'll just stick with the plastics. Love your content. Keep up the good work. This such a great hobby but its a drain on the wallet.
I was hoping they'd taken my suggestion and used driveshaft screw/pin thingies to keep the bump stops together. Oh well, I stretched my links with 5525 rod ends, so now the axle is about 3/8" too far forward for the bump stops to hit the axle housing. Oops? :P Also, I'm cheap, so I just put the battery tray pins in from the top and ignore the body clips on them entirely. Works great so far. If it does get sloppy, I'll get ahold of Fine Laser Designs for his battery tray latches. I have his clipless mounts on my 10.3 JLU, and had them on a Lasernut, and they're awesome. Another also, in the unlikely event that I order a set of those panels, I'm going to wrap them in the thickest vinyl I can manage to wrap the things, because I hate scratches on bodies.
Hard work installing the wheels, but it was worth it! The gold one matches the green body perfectly. The winch looks great and works well-very cool! 🥰
How do you install the hot racing servo plate before I physically destroy my car I got over$600 in it I’m having a melt down time to walk away I really hope I don’t destroy it. I’m about to I gota take a walk
I broke my rear differential on my Mojave and I’m planning on doing an exact rebuild like yours and make it brushless 🔥 these videos have been helpful
Your build is looking sweet, I need to order some new stuff for mine now. Thanks for giving my battery cups a try. They are printed in ABS so they are already really durable, but I wanted to include 2 extra latches as a just in case anyways.
I absolutely LOVE your battery trays! Those pins always bugged me and they make battery replacement so much nicer! Great job!
That's pretty darn awesome, I gotta get one of the winches! I installed the same wheels last night (identical truck and wheels), looks pretty jazzy. First time using beadlockers so it took a few to figure it out. Also installed the diff covers, not a worthy upgrade imo if you have the skid plates, the weight is good but it's a fiddly install imo. Great work as usual!
Thank you! I have been debating on the diff covers and aluminum axles for a week now. I may end up getting them but this rig is SO heavy already that its almost 1/7 scale in size AND weight now lol
Nice upgrades.. The Fusions are such a great option.. I run the 1800kv SE and they are buttery smooth. Just have to program with the card instead of Bluetooth. Awesome value especially for you guys in the US.. Hard to go back once you start using these, space saving, value for $ motor/esc combos. New panels look great... um well, they did.😢 Cheers👍🇦🇺
I am thoroughly impressed with the Fusion Pro motor. A-Main had a really good deal last week and the motor and card together were under $150 shipped so i had to try it. Glad i did! Now i have to worry about blowing gears! LOL
Very cool! Wheels look great and that wench is awesome!
Thanks 👍
Killer upgrades brother. I have all the same done to mine except the winch. I need to get one! I also installed the HW Axe system along with Micky Thompson Baja Pro X tires. NSDRC RS700 comes in tomorrow! I think you’l like the brass diff covers and aluminum axle housings the offer as well. Cheers brother!! You’ve inspired me to do a video on all the parts Ive installed.
I am still debating on the aluminum axles and brass diff covers. Thing is already so heavy though! LOL
@@TheDudeRchaha yeah it is pretty dang heavy haha. I like it it’s so planted. I did 60wt shock oil and replaced the bottom seal with double 0-ring. Gonna test it out to see if that stops the shocks leaking. All mine leaked bad out of the box. I give mad props because they have been making all the issues right through warranty process and they’ve been very responsive.
People give Rlaarlo a lot of crap but I have to say, I am impressed with how they handle their warranty stuff. They are always willing to help which is great to see on such a young RC company.
Yep love the wheels I have the grey body so got the siver wheels, yep lots of screws. Glad I subscribe to you as I was at a loss as to what winch that would closely match the size of the Jeep, also this is my first trail crawler as I have only 5th scale gas x6 1/7th on road x4, x2 1/7th offroad along with x1 6th scale offroad an ancient HPI Savage with collectable quad body and rider along with an old Venom 1/4th VMX450 motoXbike along with a few VTOL's and drones. I had also been hunting for alloy wheels so yep good old Rlaarlo, I still would like another choice of tyre and was wondering whether the LOSI Rock Rey tyres/wheels might fit but I did buy a set of the MK07 tyres so I did not have to split the others ao I might paint one wheel for a spare as not liking the maxtrax as way too short tried the ones fitted to my 30degrees North SDT Trophy Truck and they are too long so I either cut and shut some either stock ones or the SDT items, did you reset the steering throw I have not yet as I have a more powerful faster servo for the steering. I also got all the brass weights aloing with the alloy axles front and rear a couple of spare bowden cables for the diff lock as I have seen on YT that a couple have damaged them. Keep up the good work off to order a winch I noticed that there is a port on the receiver for a winch so maybe you can wire straight there and not have to order the remote one less thing to lose or forget to pack.
How is the motor holding up? I ordered one to see if I can get a little bit more top speed out of my setup on 3s but then I noticed the motor is only rated for 8.4 volts.
So far so good. I have over 30 runs on it and the motor has been rock solid now with the cooling upgrades. Just got the suspension dialed in a bit better with some 40wt oil and will continue to test it!
@@TheDudeRc sweet! Good to hear. I used some 100wt oil I had laying around in mine lol made a nice difference but the rear is either still too soft or too bouncy imo.. I might upgrade the shocks here soon after my metal diffs arrive. Such a cool lil truck 😄
Great job I also ordered those wheels for mine, gold color too. Right now I running 2.2s brass hex extenders and a set of tusk LPs 1/4 inch taller than stock. Oh ps I own the gray one upgraded G13 servo. Thanks for the videos my friend 😄👍
Love mine wanting to go to a 5.9 tire
Cool video bill. Yea the foc technology is amazing even my fusion se has it and i love it
Fantastic! Been eyeing the Vanquish, all this pushed me over the edge, great job!
Awesome! Thank you!
Did you have to trim anything to get the hw pro motor in place?
Nope. Dropped right in like it was made just for it. Very easy fitment!
Awesome review and thanku for actual footage of the real car! This car is awesome, people criticising this really ...yep its expensive...now... Traxxas have to release the possibilities are endless it drives really well dirt or on road a piece of history...goes over 60mph on 4S ...but why
Very cool!
Good info. Subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
I can't wait! 😍
I'd settle for a few set of rear gears.
Bought a bunch of brass parts from Rlaarlo for mine, one piece (outer cover for front portal) has a defect in it, Rlaarlo won't give me or even sell me the individual part, I have to buy the whole kit (4 pcs). If you're going with brass portals in the front with the wheel weights, you'll have to shorten the screws, not a big deal but they didn't offer much of an answer to that either.
In the followup video to this one I also installed the brass portal covers and on one I had to sand open the bearing hole a tad to get the baring in there. 3 fit fine and one was a tad off. As far as the screws, mine were the correct size. I just used the ones the weights came with and didnt have any issues.
@@TheDudeRc My bearings in the cover that's causing me an issue look to be sitting flat just like the other side, there's just a micro difference in the machining that's causing the issue I guess, the axle turns but I definitely feel more resistance on that side than the others. My screws are actually okay but for some reason, when I tighten everything down, same set up on front as you, the outer portal cover is loose, it's like the wheel weight bottoms out on something before it makes contact with the outer cover to tighten everything up, it's hard contact too so it's not budging. After looking at the stock plastic outer cover and the brass one, the stock one is about 1 mm thicker where the screws go thru, my gap is about 1mm after tightening the wheel weight. Looks like I'm gonna have to source some washers to put between the wheel weight and outer portal cover.
Are the front and rear shock the same size
Yes
where is the link from the cvd's further in video they dont fit are there mojave version cvd's?
I didnt include the link as they are not for the Mojave but they should fit the Typhon and for sure the Granite
@@TheDudeRc is there a mojave version?
Not sure. I cant seem to find the proper ones. Another channel ordered a different set but they seemed to be between the Grainte Grom and Mojave Grom sizes. So far I can only find cups. That being said, with metal cups or the cheaper diffs I installed, the stock axles shouldnt have a problem for something this size. They are about as thick as the axles inside a TRX4 and those have WAY more power and get bound up (rock climber) without snapping a shaft.
The fact you are using a drill thay cost as much as if not more than the car did originally makes me appreciate your style 😂
LOL
I want both of them in my Collection And do A Opgrad to brushless I have different ESC I Can use.Really gid job and Nice video 😊
Sweet upgrades and very informative install!
That fan kicks ass! The stock one is crap. I'd just go with a Hobbywing esc because those programmer's work awesome. I tried several programmers for the King Val and Goolrc and they're all garbage. Good Video.
Nice upgrades. Those drive shafts should fit the Typhon also. I believe the Granite and Typhon have the same parts at least the arms are the same part. So you could put them on your Typhon if it needs upgrades
Great upgrades
SPMXCA320. Ic2-ic3 cable for charging. Have one for lmt mini battery. Just order Mojave grom. Can’t wait to give it a go.
LOL, your DX5 rugged costs more than the truck.
I know cold has a negative impact on your battery how about 90+ degree heat? I’m new to RC and any tips for hot weather driving would be greatly appreciated.
It does not seem to hurt battery life but the motor and ESC get very hot when run hard on 90+* days.
@@TheDudeRc thanks and the fans are a must I’d assume for the dog days of summer?
Not all scale rc cars are the same size, they are scaled after the real vehicle it is based on. A 1:10 Scale H1 Hummer will not be the same size as a 1:10 Scale Honda Civic.
But a 1/10 Hummer and a 1/10 Civic are 1/10 the size of the original. The RZR and MK07 are both 1/7 scale but the RZR is closer to 1/6 or 1/5 scale and the MK07 is closer to 1/8 scale.
I wish I would have watched this yesterday. But I was busy over heating my esc and burning off my paint.
I just put the same system in my Typhon yesterday and I only run it on 2s to try to keep from breaking the driveline.
In part two I will be upgrading the diffs, axles, larger cooling fan and shocks. So far though, I have 30+ runs with it on 3S with better cooling and the truck has been as solid as can be. Its even had MANY 30+ MPH smacks into a steel pole while racing. LOL My Typhon Grom has only broken a shock so far after many accidents so I think they have a pretty solid drivetrain already.
I’m new to RC and my brother and I who are extremely competitive picked up one each so we can race and I want to smoke him so any upgrades or gear and pinion suggestions that I can do to ensure I crush his stock car would be greatly appreciated. What upgrades in general would you recommend for bashing and racing and are there any great online part resources I should check out. Thanks for any advice. Love the channel.
Really it does best on the stock gears. I would 100% suggest the sway bar kit though. Makes a huge difference.
Mesh is way to tight.
Its on the proper Traxxas pin setting and has been raced a couple dozen times since this video and no issues with the gears since using thread locker on the grub screw and a hardened gear.
Wide maxx kit solves that rolling over business.
I didnt want to cut up the body. I will be showing a small but very effective upgrade in the next video which also helps eliminat a lot of traction roll.
No waterproof electronics ?
The Rx box is setup just like a Traxxas one just without the o-ring. So its pretty water resistant and if I can find a gasket to fit then will be fairly water proof. Since this video I have checked the servos and ESC and light kit and have not seen any issues despit them all being under water several times in the video I made of it after this one.
Dang that's a nice upgrade for $41!! How has it held up? Were temps OK after those speed runs? Oops finished the video. Looks like a reasonable 2s is the sweet spot. I enjoyed the video. Thanks!
2S temps are good but bashing on 3S it gets pretty hot. I am going to try a different fan. Problem is this ESC is only a 5amp BEC and not adjustable. I think I may direct wire the fan to the battery to get more flow from it.
Yes do that and run two fans one from 5v one direct , you can probably bend heat sink too squeeze it together, also could put air scoop because bodies seal pretty tight , why u try stick to 4500 and lower for 3s , 5 and 6 2s only . I haven’t converted my groms yet but I have mini b s and reflex 14t which is same as this little big for small can motors but to small for the bigger motors or you chew diffs up . Trick is keeping them cool
I put my RX on the fan. Fit perfectly and keeps it cool.
I knew I was going with a larger fan and wanted to not have to remove the RX. That being said, I may try that out. Thanks!
Wonder how well those plastic axle gears will last 😬
So far they have lasted over 30 runs with a lot of painful impacts. That being said, keep an eye out for the next video as I will be doing some upgrades concerning just that. I wanted to see how long they would last before swapping them but so far they havent broken.
i never use locktide lol
52 MPH. Damn 😂. Awesome. Great job
Nice video my guy.. the mohave grom is the best one yet in my opinion.
Mine too!
I see stripping gears because they're not designed to handle 3s.
You read my mind about putting duel IC2 / Deans connectors on the brushless esc. I have a bunch of the IC2 batteries from my Mini-B and the 1800mah that came with the Grom but I also have 3S 3000mah batteries I run in my brushless Mojave Grom with Deans plugs. I ended up ordering a Quic-run 16BL30 esc and Reedy 280 sl4 4500kv motor for mine. With stock gearing the truck fly's! 😆 Really happy they made the Mojave Grom, its such a fun little truck!
