We live in their service area and this weak Cat 1 should NOT have done the damage that it did. Been here all my life and power outages caused were abnormal. That being said, their response was terrible. Texas New Mexico customers did not have the same delays in service restoration. I knew people who just got power back yesterday (July 20th). Their statement about having crews staged was found to be a lie. We did not see ANY staging until 3 days after the storm. We were fortunate to only have to deal with no power for a couple of days (we had a generator ready). The attacks against the lineman are 100% ridiculous and should have never happened. Centerpoint has also been accused of haggling with these out of state lineman as far as fair compensation. Our wonderful Governer has "commissioned a task force" to look into it, lol. If it's anything like his inquiry into ERCOT, nothing will come of it, so more power to these lawsuits. I cannot imagine the fallout if this happens after our next storm. When you have people relying on the Whataburger app to track power restoration, you know something is wrong.

Crews from other places getting attacked? Not a place I would want to be in as a repair guy. Maybe the people affected should figure out who did that. I was out of power for a couple days, when I finally saw the truck pull up. They told us what the problem was, and were actually calling for parts when I went to see them. I gave them a small gift in appreciation for what they were doing. We had power two hours later. I have assisted (having electrical background) lineman in the past. It gets interesting when you are in construction, and have to clear out quantities of downed trees to free the power lines tangled in them, and remain safe.

I work at a public pool. We call it Badi in Switzerland. My role is as lifeguard, so I check if everyone is safe and respond in case of emergency or potntially dangerous situations. Now last year there was a case not in my Badi but in one pretty close by where a toddler was sucked into a vortex under the mouth of a waterslide and later died to their injuries. Upon that case becoming public my boss instructed me once more to pay perticular attention to our waterslide. Anyways the interesting part is that despite lifeguards being present the parents still carr ultimate responsebility and the lifeguards aren‘t liable in such a case. Similair to this, if you knowlingly expose your children to such dangers you are liable for the consequences and can even be convicted of negligent behaviour resulting in your child‘s death. Tough pill to swallow I know but many people seem to be under the impression that water isn‘t dangerous and „the lifeguards are there“ but really you‘re on the hook for it.

Daughter just broke her arm at summer camp 2 days ago. They didn’t notify a nurse or me until 13hours after her injury. The staff members fell asleep while all the girls in the cabin were awake and playing. My daughter fell off the top bunk broke her shoulder. The staff member tried to see if she could get back on top bunk and she was crying and yelling “I can’t move” they proceeded to have her sleep on the hardwood floor. Didn’t make her a bed… didn’t have another girl move off bottom bunk for her… didn’t notify a nurse or me. Yup that’s right. They made my 7 year old baby sit on hard floor with a broken shoulder from 12am-8:30am… one of the little girls gave her a blanket and pillow. At approximately 10am they decided to send her to the nurse. The nurse called at 10:36 saying she hurt her arm. I took her for X-rays. It was broken. So yes I contacted several attorneys. I go back to the camp tomorrow to take pictures of the bunk bed and to see if they filed an incident report.

Don’t throw eggs off an overpass either!🐓 My son’s pickup was hit by eggs thrown off an overpass. He immediately pulled over, he and his brother made eye contact with the teenage idiots, took off on foot after them. Chased them back to mommy’s apartment. Called the police. The fantastic responding officer not only made contact with the mom and teenagers involved, he paid a quick visit to the grocery store within walking distance from the apartment and obtained video of the teens buying 2 dozen eggs less than an hour before the incident. Later my sons were called in to identify the teenagers, and provide an estimate for the body damage and paint repairs needed on the pickup. Few months later my son received a check for the repairs from the county prosecutor’s office and a hand written apology from the egg-throwing leader!

A kid that went to middle school with me threw a cinder block onto a highway and it hit a car. We never saw him again. I don't know what happened to him, but it reinforced that throwing cinder blocks off of an overpass onto an interstate was a very bad idea. This was some time around 1984/85.
