Directly on the wall! I only use the board to show the camera. But I do the actual whole process directly on the wall with the spakle. Sorry if that wasn't clearly explained in the video!

A whole list-full! Starting with a gothic stained-glass window project. Other projects I have in mind are: making a snowboarding outfit, making a cathedral-style door, and making unique make-up cases... but i still havent decided in which order I would release them lol >__<

That sounds awesome! Yeah you can cut the foam pueces in rregular shapes to further the effect! AND you can take them with you and install them in your next location too!

If you're nervous about trying this out you can always test out and practice the process on a piece of cardboard or foamboard before you go all-out on the wall :)

I've looked at multiple ways to create a stone wall and my 2 biggest problems are making sure it's not permanent and that I can also hang things from it.

That's not an answer. Or are you just +1'ing this question?

A more renter friendly alternative is to carve the stone texture into xps foam that you can buy at Home Depot/lowes. They come in large sheets, and be easily textured with a knife, soldering iron, heat gun, aluminum foil,rocks, etc. there are lots of tutorial videos on how to do it. I’ve forgotten the creator, but I’ve seen one where they textured some foam to look like stone, and some to look like wood beams. They mounted it to the wall with 3m strips at the edges and poster tack in the middle. If you want to mount something to the wall like a coat rack or light you can either just cut a hole in the foam, or use a block of wood as a mounting plate. I recomendable looking at wargaming/d&d/miniature terrain building videos for ideas. You can just scale up whatever pattern they make on a three inch tall wall to a normal 8’ wall

Funny that you mention that. After posting my original question I did start creating stone panels with 4'x8'x1" XPS foam. A tool that I've found expecially helpful is a U-Shaped heating wire for cutting out the grout lines. However, it's INCREDIBLY time consuming. Haha. Carving out just one panel took an entire weekend of almost non-stop work.

It's one of my favorites too so far!
