Documenting a few of the preamp pedals I have with different basses. This one is great but the drive is very sensitive. I generally like it most with the drive at 9 o clock. More is fuzzy/farty. Less is too quiet.

Shootout of 2 of my favorite pickups in the same model bass with the same strings and tuning. Not my best playing. The white bass has the Sixties P which is hot wind with alnico magnets. The brown bass has the Relentless "middle" model - the one with no pole pieces. Although the Relentless shows a lower DCR, it is much hotter and has ceramic magnets. You can hear it drives the amp model into di...

What kind of bass sounds good for slap?
GFS makes some good stuff but they kill you on shipping.
very yummy
Too bad their headstocks are hideous and can only make decent copies of other brands. Admittingly some of the specs are really good. Too bad it's almost August though and don't seem to be available.
After 20 years or so my Sansamp is finally dying. I'm considering one of these or the Monomyth. I'm leaning more towards the Monomyth because it seems to be more versatile. Stories of QC issues have made me hesitate.
@@ElricX the replacement Tidal Wave they sent me is perfect. I'm using it over my V T Bass DI. I just prefer the sound. If you have a bad unit they will replace it.
I have this bass and it feels so nice. I have it up for sale but not sure if I should
Having owned a Sire V7 and own a USA Stingray 5HH, the Stingray is far easier to dial in different pickups with the 5 way switch including single coil sounds. Sire has 7 confusing knobs. On a live gig I could dial in different sounds instantly. With Sire I had to take time between songs and fiddle with knobs which rest of band hated.
@daviddesmond2143 not a problem for me . When I play an active bass, the knobs aren't for song to song changes but for overall little tweaks if something sounds off

Not for jazz funk R&B just a question.
There is a b-stock for $900, probs worth
@@Upsetkiller456 oh yeah!
Love mine!!!
I cannot lie: I am intrigued
Not as versatile as a 2 pickup stingray but pretty awesome
60’s has more of that high end clank I like.
That one is way better with flats. I found out I like the Relentless with Pro steels.
I like them all except the 40DCs which I also have on my ibanez BTB705DX... I hate them! Now I know why: Too much low end and attenuated high mids
@edgarpoe83 those are a very specific sound, but yeah I'm not a fan either.
@klaymeister After some hesitation I actually bought a 40P5 to put in the neck position. I was quite reluctant that the upgrade was worth 100€ but after hearing how it sounds I think it was a wise choice, the split coil just sounds good in the neck position, even in the EMG flavor, also the combination with the DC that I kept in the bridge position is good, I think they sound complementary and I like it, I haven't tried it with the band yet but I'm very optimistic. The sound with the double 40DCs always seemed "boomy" and lost in the mix with the bands.
Yeah all black looks nice because of the fret markers. Gold wouldn’t have looked as nice. You made the right call. Flat wound strings is where it’s at imho. Great choice. Great minds and all. 😜
I mean they sound great, they are said to play well and they look good. Also they are so inexpensive that if something happened and a drink at a gig poured beer on it or even kicked it over and broke it, you can get a new one for the same price (actually cheaper) than the harmonica I bought today. 😂
It’s the neck-through. Always adds a premium because it takes longer to manufacture.
Just got riot 5 session, no passive/active switch button, active all time. Very good quality instrument. It has its own tone of course, but there is no metal or pop or anything basses, its in your fingers, always. Instrument must be just good enough to provide sound that you need. And schecter basses is about it. After 3k musicman bongo it is as good, and even more comfortable for me.
heavy fret buzz
I had the relief too flat. I think I have it ironed out a little
The blend affects the dry/wet ratio for the drive. It literally does nothing to the mids as far as scooping. It's not a contour effect lol.
That's what it does on a regular drive pedal. Check out this verbiage from the pedal this is copied from. The amp emulation includes a EQ curve. Like most tube amps do (scooped mids) Blend knob - controls the ratio of SansAmp Tube Amplifier Emulation circuitry and your direct instrument signal
Just bought a Legend 5 yesterday
thats not too bad of an output my 2005 Squier was like 7.12k
Oh lol I changed to a pickup over 11k. I guess it's just what my ear is used to
Geebus scroll to 23:45 to actually hear this bass.
Like my caption says at the very beginning of the video yes
Hi Bro, between Joyo Tidal Wave AND Joyo Monomyth, which Is better if you can get each one for the same price?
I like the sound of the Tidal Wave more. The benefit of the monomyth is having a switch for the clean sound with eq and a different switch for distortion.
@@klaymeister if it's true, however i have the Joyo Double Thruster, could i use the Tidal Wave with a minimum Drive knobs and activate the distortion with the Double Thruster? I think the Tidal Wave has a verter sound as do you.
@ricardocadena895 I think thats a good idea. I am a fan of the sansamp type tone
@@klaymeister Thanks for the help , i will buy the Tidal Wave🤙🏽
Hi Bro, between Joyo Tidal Wave AND Joyo Monomyth, which Is better if you can get each one for the same price?
I loved it.
Muchos gracias
Amazing cover, amazing playing, amazing sound.
I love The monomyth, the ability to switch the overdrive separately is great. Haven't used the Tidal wave tho
Cause I have the hyper luminal pedal but probably gonna get this amp to practice with me when I go to work driving a semi
Sounds cool to me!
What do you think the darkglass hyper luminal would Be like on it?
Ots intended for people who want a boss katana sound/control but also want a more powerful and/or different sounding speakerr
Something I have been realizing lately with my 110 is it is very bass heavy and boomy. The bass channel video on this amp seems to show it clarifies that with the cab resonance button
This is an interesting take I hadn't heard before. I love the reverend sound, but am not a huge fan of the body shape. I've actually even heard the Jaguar on a few videos, and through the right amp or plugin it sounds wonderful for the price point.
I’d say it’s one of the best basses you could get for under 2000 bucks. But yeah, I feel you on that. Only way I could afford it is a payment plan lol But if I went that route I’d probably get a Warwick
Tom Brantley geddy Lee custom rewinds 189. Also the demos for those Cobalts... they hardly change the sound at all. Paying for the name 100%
I will admit that is a horrible looking bass but sounds good
Niiiice!!
That Aguilar is kicking
It's a no brainer...😊
They sound great stacked together. I've been considering getting the Tidal Wave as an "always-on" pedal with my Double Thruster going through it for distorted parts. Nice work right there, man!
What you're describing is exactly what I do. The Tidal Wave goes to soundboard but I have a compressor and the Double Thruster in front of it.
ngl saw a picture today and thought it was beautiful but idk anything about bass amps so interesting to know ….
It does look really nice
Hey man! Maybe you could help! I have a schecter as well but mine have the 40 HZ pickups and powered by 18v system. Could I just pop an EMG CSX in the Bridge and an EMG P5X in the neck and call it a day after I connect all the wires? Any help would be appreciated!!
The HZ pickups have different wiring on the back. 5 pins instead of 3. Also the volume knob may be 500k rather than the 25k they use with active. So short version is no. But if you buy the new pickups they usually come with all the wires and knobs you need.
@@klaymeister okay! Thank you so much! I’m very new to learning about pickups so I had no clue where to even start lol. Your reply was very insightful.
@@Sammybass167 go check out the wiring diagrams on the emg website and you'll learn a lot
Ur insane!!!!!!!!!
I pre-ordered my sire. I play musicman and sterling basses. Can't wait til July for my sire
why not put a couple hundred dollars down on a deposit and finance the bass online or from a dealer if you like it? it wouldn't take long to pay off at all. at this price I rather Import from Japan.
This bass would be cool at the 900 or 1000 range. I wouldn't pay this much for it
@@klaymeisterSure. I don't think the price is egregious. 35" scale 4-string basses are uncommon. ESP has a couple M-4 and F-4. The Frets on those are Stainless Steel and have a Fishman Fluence Soapbar with Multiple Voice settings and Single Coil mode.
What has been your favorite pickup combination for the 1.5x4 inch pickup route for the EMG 40 size? I have seen that you have done may comparison videos using that bass and was just curious.
I still haven't found "the one"yet I don't think. I would probably go with the Aguilar DCB pickups. The Zen Blades have more clarity and less mids and sound great also.
That body shape though 😵💫😵💫😵💫
She will be mine , oh yes she will be mine
The pro is a through neck, bolt on necks are usually for <1000$
Where did you buy it from
Ebay
I will call it an upgrade, because I like the more focused tone of single coils; so the surf 180s just sound better than normal humbuckers to me, definitely an upgrade imho
Yeah I am liking pickups with twang lately. But I still want hum canceling and some power.
@@klaymeister well they are hum canceling, I don't know, get a clean boost pedal?
