My memories of Richard M. Sherman
zhlédnutí 723Před 2 měsíci
Disney Legend hardly is enough to describe Richard M. Sherman, who with his brother Robert B. Sherman, wrote some of Disney's best classic songs! It's a Small World, the music of Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, The Tiki Room, and so much more. Richard passed away today at the age of 95. I will cherish the memories of my times with him. Magnificent! This is just beautiful. Thanks for recording and sharing. I feel like the work they did on the animetroncs and costumes. I'd say some of the work is better then the live broadway shows. Tons of work into that. Id love to have Mufasa sitting in my backyard lol
5:41: Why is this song sound familiar
The song you're hearing at 5:41 is from the stage musical "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown."
Great interview👍
So glad you liked it!!
It's a great video! Thank you sir. I am study in istanbul. And I want to spread the magic of Disney to the whole world. I am also want to working as an animator for Disney.
I'm so glad you liked the video, and it's fun to know I have someone enjoying it in Istanbul!! The magic of Disney is definitely universal! I wish you luck in your pursuit to be an animator.
Scott, I love it and the show officially calls your set piece a “flipper.” I was on the show myself in 2006 and have several Wheel Disney props, including the crew jacket from when they came back to tape at MGM in 1993.
Brian Cummings!
wow that great video that was
I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thank you.
Bob Mattey STILL isn't recognized as a Disney Legend. But Hannah Montana soon will. Recognize Bob Mattey as a Disney Legend. He did SO much for Disneyland and live action Disney movies in the 50's and 60's
Sorry, I don't work for Disney.
This was the first time I viewed one of your videos, very nicely done. Cicily Rigdon was a very good friend of mine. I met her briefly while I was an attractions host on the"West side" and University Leader. during Disneylands 25th anniversary. She was fully responsible at that time for the Ambassador program. I was able to travel internationally with here for a few years when I was working for various Anaheim hotels in sales and marketing and we participated in many tourism campaigns with the Anaheim Tourism Bureau promoting Disneyland and the area throughout Australia, and New Zealand, A Disneyland treasure to ber sure her stories and recollections of Walt were all priceless. I am forwarding your video to one of her daughters to insure they see it. Cicily so enjoyed telling the story that she had applied initially for a job at Disneyland shortly after it opened and was rejected, not once but four times, then on the fifth time she finally got a job. She was so excited on the drive home that she accidentally drove through the garage doorl. Her sense of humor was remarkable. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Sounds like you had some great times with Cicely. Thank you for sharing. I'll be posting more of her, including some audio I've recorded of her. I hope you'll like it!

Great video! Brought back memories of my childhood! 👍🏼😃❤️
Thanks!! So glad you liked it!
Such a GREAT show (as always) Scott! Cubby is one of my favorite Mousketeers. So many great stories I haven't heard and I was especially excited to hear the behind the scenes story about Cubby, his dad and brother on the MMC. Great job!
Thank you so much for the compliment! It always makes me happy when people enjoy my videos and I always appreciate your kind messages. I'm so happy to share Cubby's stories!
Hi Scott. Thanks for this video. It was fun to see these photos of Cubby. I toured with him when I sang background for Andy Williams. Great memories
How cool! I loved Andy Williams! Neat that you got sing with both of them. I hope that it was as great of an experience as it sounds!
On Wheel of Fortune: Jim Thornton has done a wonderful job carrying on the legacy that the legendary Charlie O'Donnell did for many years!
He’s going to be proud of you

Gigi and I thought of you and your family when we heard. Our condolences.
This was news to me, but I'm glad I found out from "Keeping The Magic Alive". The Sherman Brothers' songs are timeless, and more people will continue to learn about their work because of this channel. Wonderful tribute. RIP Richard. 💔
Your message means a lot to me! I do have more great stories and audio from Richard that I'll use in future videos. He and Bob were such important parts of Disney. Thank you very much for writing your sweet message.
That's NOT the news I was expecting this morning. Rest in peace.
So wonderful that you got to see him many times. Richard Sherman was who I wanted to meet more than anyone else in the world. I feel very blessed to be a friend of Leonard Maltin’s daughter Jessie and she always kept me updated on how he was doing. I was really hoping that I’d get to see him while he was still here, but I’m glad he lived a long life at almost 96. I loved that Leonard and Jessie Maltin did a podcast with him back in 2016. I hope to meet Karen Dotrice sometime soon and ask her about Richard.
Just heard about it and immediately rushed to your channel to find a beautifully made video that brought tears to my eyes. Sherman created music that I grew up listening to and loving, he will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.
I'm flattered you came to my channel after finding out, and that the video touched you. You and I both grew up listening to his and Bob's music! Thank you for your kind message.
So sad, not too many legends that worked with Walt are left.
R.I.P. Richard M. Sherman (1928 - 2024) 😢😭
Beautiful tribute with wonderful music! What a life touching so many with his talent.
Feed the birds
Thank you for this beautiful tribute. His songs will live on forever!
Awesome photos & memories, thank you for sharing. May he rest in peace.
This is awesome! I watch "Wheel" all the time and was researching Jim recently since I love voiceover so much. I didn't know he was in the Monsters Inc. rides, too; that's so cool! Jim mentioned the Haunted Mansion, which reminded me: Have you ever considered interviewing Corey Burton? Although Corey gives limited interviews, he loves talking to people who are passionate about Disney history and have done their research, both of which you do a great job of highlighting. (I run a fanpage dedicated to Corey on Twitter/X, which is how I know of his preferences--not to brag, but I do my research, too.)🙂
I'm glad you learned something about Jim! Voice over talent is certainly a very important part of shows! I always loved the recording sessions back when I worked for Disney. Corey would probably make a great interview - he's probably the most versatile voice over actor there is. I'm not sure how to get in touch with him. Maybe it can happen sometime. I sure appreciate your compliments and your kind words! Thank you for writing!
I love watching Wheel of Fortune! Are you sad that Pat Sajak is retiring as the host?
I am. I think Ryan Seacrest will do great, but I do feel like it's the end of an era. What about you?
@@KeepingtheMagicAlive Yeah 😞
The rarest voice of Mickey might be Stan Freberg - who provided Mickey's voice on a book on record character album in the 50's "Mickey Mouse's Birthday Party". Along for the ride were Clarence Nash, Pinto Colvig, and June Forray
I bet this is the same or similar show they did at the 1988 All Star Game in Cincinnati (probably branded for WDW) A great way to start the season and it likely didn't cost much. It doesn't take very much thought to see how many of the costs for that production could have been offset by tax deductions.
How cool is that that you guys have a friendship that has lasted so long. My guess is that you are both faithful friends. Neat video.
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I'm lucky to have such a good friend for so long.
Could you show us a video of your entire plush collection?
I don't have all my plush together, but they're not all Mickey. Lots of them are from Japan. Duffy, otters from Finding Dory, characters from the Country Bear Jamboree, Winnie the Pooh Ufufi, a Big Bad Wolf, Figment from Disney World and just a huge variety. Maybe I'll put them all together sometime and talk about them. I never even thought someone would be interested in something like that.
Can I ask a question.
Of course!
You Have 960 Subs!
I know! I'm very grateful for that! I've got so many more videos in the works but been traveling and stuff and I'm so behind.
Walt Disney was also a satanists.. who tf cares about this
Thank you for uploading this Scott ❤
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Can u tell me if the patterns are somehow being sold rn Or maybe a digital version please?
You thought that thing was ugly you should see some of the other plushies
lol. I will consider myself fortunate.
Wow where are those books now?❤
They are called "Where in Disneyland Park?" and "Where in Disneyland Attractions?" I wish I could have Photoshopped a lot of the photos back then, but it was all film. Oh well. But there are usually some on eBay.
Great Photography!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it!
That cool
Pete renaday will always be my childhood mickey mouse
You’re a doll it’s not a Charlotte Clark it was made by Hermann in Germany a lot of people mistaken this item for a steiff mickey mouse which it is not I’ve been collecting 40 years and have one of the largest prewar 1930s mickey mouse collections in the world. It was distributed through George Botgfeldt in New York he had his own toy company line that he would apply to toys that were exported the nifty line there was no toys being manufactured by nifty just items he would get from certain exports he would put nifty toys on as he would be sold distributor of certain items. The first Mickey Mouse doll was manufactured by the Dean’s rag book company of London England they applied for a patent in 1929 Disney did not like their designer he and his brother Roy rejected many of the dolls being made by other companies they wanted companies to produce mickey mouse in the Charlotte Clark design which was made available to the public by a McCall’s pattern of the doll . So steiff and Hermann needle craft and Knickerbocker were using the design premise of Charlotte Clark
She has the most beautiful voice of all time! Please tell me you have more videos of her!! LOVE this ♥️🙏
I'm so glad you liked it! I recorded a lot of her stories and will do more in the future. In the meantime. Please check out my longer video called "Sleeping Beauty voice, Mary Costa, remembers Walt Disney".
@@KeepingtheMagicAlive you two seemed like you had a great rapport in both!! Such beautiful energy ♥️
Is he one of the singers in pirates?
I don't think he did Pirates, but he did a number of Disney movies, often in the chorus. He sang in Mary Poppins, Pete's Dragon, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Summer Magic, and the Happiest Millionaire. He also did lots of non-Disney movies including Willie Wonka, Sound of Music, and Funny Girl.
Very Kool! Thanks I enjoyed your video very much.
Thanks for letting me know! I appreciate it!!
Thank you for such great videos on your youtube-channel, Scott! It’s very inspiring to hear all your fantastic secrets from the Walt Disney History! Such a blessing for a Disney-fan- looking forward to see all your videos, you are a good storyteller :-)
What a way to start the new year, with a comment like yours! Thank you so much for writing! I've got lots more planned! Right now I've been doing more of the shorts, but my next longer video I'm doing is with Cubby from the original Mickey Mouse Club! I hope you'll like it!
Heh, very interesting, One Day i would love to see more photos of the 1994 float. It looks really cool.
