I believe the 706s are 61.5 cc and the 317s are 72 cc you would gain about a full compression point. If I were going to run a stock casting I would source a set of ls3 heads. They have really good flow from factory. It all really depends on what piston you have, piston to deck height and what cam combo you have.

I'm thinking of doing an LS swap in my 70 Camaro, right now with 572 cubic inches and 14.5:1 compression gets expensive running racing fuel driving around town. what all comes with this motor? can I use my current turbo 400?

What’s the compression ratio? Hard to see those numbers on pump gas and naturally aspirated.

Absolutely. That’s why I asked what the compression ratio was. My 408 is 624 hp. 11.2 :1. 255 trick flows. Cam. 238 duration 640 lift.
