It looks like that truck has an additional lift with springs , judging by the slight extra height of the truck compared to a factory "highboy" and both the front and rear driveshafts are in backwards, the sliding yoke should be at the transfer case end, and they did not have those double cardan joints. Do these have safety switches on the brake levers that they have to be pulled in first it to fire and run? I know they have a switch but not sure if it’s for only the brake light. I have the kfx 90 and the arctic cat 50. Both basically the same atv’s minus cylinder size and both made by Kymco. Neither of these are firing and I have swapped parts and bought parts and nothing.

Hey, I just picked up a 2014 kfx 50 that sat and had a few things disassembled. Your videos have been a huge help! I'm close to having it ready for the kids but I need help with the vacuum lines. At the :30 mark, there is a vac line on the carb, right above the fuel line. Do you know what the other end of that vac line goes to? I have it going to the PCV but it won't run with that plugged in so I think I have it wrong. Thanks for any advice!

That is an NP203 case. You can tell by the big two-speed gearbox on the front of the case, and the aluminum tail housing.

My father had one of these, and being a Catalina, it had the Slim-Jim Roto-Hydramatic. That transmission earned its bad reputation. It needed frequent repairs. The Star Chief and Bonneville had the 4-speed Jetaway Hydramatic, which was a much better transmission. But I do think these were some of the best-looking Pontiacs ever and are fun to drive.

Always love to see the Pontiac's from the 60's fixed up. I have the 64 Bonneville two door hard top. I love my Pontiac.

Carb looks right style, I had a 64 with 352 police interceptor used the same carb.also had a drag pack automatic you could push start.

The reason they used the divorced transfer case is so that they could get the ride hight with the low pinion front axle and the combination of the long front shaft and the short rear one made an even torque distribution to both axles

I live in Oregon. When I was a teenager, my friend had a Ford Custom same body style as yours that was an old Washington State Police car. 4 door with a 428, auto trans. It was a Tire Burner... On the shifter there was a screw between first and second keeping it from being put into 1st. Agin, absolute Tire Burner.

Nice video! I've owned three highboys back in the day. All were open knuckle disc brake trucks, 1976. Earlier models often had closed knuckles and drum brakes. Almost all 1970's 4x4's had divorced transfer cases, and the highboy had the strongest, the NP 205, a fully gear driven, not chain driven case. It really was a medium duty t-case. The highboy set the standard back in the day for snow plow trucks and landscaper use. The high ride height gave a better approach angle for off-roading, and the height made the use of large tires possible. The first readily available 35" mud tires, the Gumbo Monster Mudders by Dick Cepek, were designed with the highboy in mind. The highboy's axles were among the strongest pickup axles on the market. The highboy differed in having the front pumpkin offset to the driver's side, making it easier for the driver to judge it's position when off roading, and to avoid harming it on rocks or other obstacles. For it's time, the highboy was overbuilt. When the 4x4 exhibition truck craze began, the highboy was used as the base for the Bigfoot monster truck. Lifted pickups, large tires, you name it, it all started right here.
