“I am the bread of life” - “I AM” Sayings of Jesus # 1 | Dr. Sam Thomas
Human beings have several hungers and thirsts. In order to satisfy these hungers and thirsts, people often consume "that which cannot satisfy" or "that which is not food." In John 6, after feeding the 5000 men with five loaves and two fish, Jesus says to those around him, "do not work for food that spoils." He asks people to receive the bread that the Father has sent from heaven. He introduces Himself as the Bread of Life. According to Jesus, whoever comes to the Bread of Life "will never go hungry."

Beginning a new series: The "I AM" Sayings of Jesus. This is the first video in this series based on John 6:35 - "I am the bread of life." Human beings have several hungers and thirsts. In order to satisfy these hungers and thirsts, people often consume "that which cannot satisfy" or "that which is not food." This is one part of the discussion in this video. We would also discuss the example of a person who consumed the 'food that cannot satisfy' and was miserable in life. In John 6, after feeding the 5000 men with five loaves and two fish, Jesus says to those around him, "do not work for food that spoils." He asks people to receive the bread that the Father has sent from heaven. He introduces Himself as the Bread of Life. According to Jesus, whoever comes to the Bread of Life "will never go hungry." This results in the Jews receiving several favors from him. This is the final video in the series God and Pagan Kings - a series that discussed God's revelations to many mighty kings.

I agree with you dear brother in that not everyone exercises the extraordinary gifts of the Spirit. Not even in the early church. Paul had to write, “eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit.” Again, I agree with you in that everyone has some gift/s from the Spirit useful for the church - hospitality, administration, service, and so on. This video is to show that the extraordinary gifts have not ceased - such a case cannot be made from the Bible. Thank you. God bless you!

In the next few chapters, God revealed Himself to Pharoah, his officials, the Egyptians, and the Israelites about His identity and power. He showed Himself to be more powerful than all the gods of Egypt - the plagues were judgments on the gods of Egypt. God revealed Himself to be in control over nature, the solar system, life and death, battles, and so on. Despite all of God's glory and power and sovereignty on majestic display, Pharoah refused to accept the light of God's revelations. He knew and understood the truth, but refused to embrace it. His hardheartedness and stubbornness led to his own destruction and to the destruction of his people in many ways. Watch the video to see how God hardened Pharoah's heart only after Pharoah hardened his heart against God multiple times.

During the times of the Prophets, they criticized the people of God and their leaders - the priests, prophets, kings, and officials - for failing to take care of the poor and needy among them. Instead, they were oppressed, and their rights not honored. They failed to love their neighbor as themselves. They failed in their legislatures; their judiciaries failed to protect the poor and needy; their executive branches of government were guilty of oppressing the needy, and the religious leaders failed to teach the people of God to love their neighbors.

This is a study on the Books of Moses. First of all, God saw the misery of the people of Israel in Egypt, He heard their cries for mercy, and came down to deliver them. In His Law to the people of Israel, God instructed them repeatedly that they are not to forget the times of slavery in Egypt. This collective memory (historical consciousness) would be important in helping them to know how to deal with the poor and needy among them. Further, God gave them specific instructions on how they are to treat the poor who took loans from them, how to treat the needy who sold their lands to avoid poverty, and so on. In other words, God reveals Himself as the God who cares for the poor and the needy. He wanted His people to also demonstrate such an approach towards the suffering people among them.

Titus was in several difficult situations. As a member of the Church of Antioch, he was under pressure to be circumcised by Jewish Christians because Titus was a Gentile Christian. He came to the Church of Jerusalem along with Paul and Barnabas to find a solution to this problem. He was Paul's representative to the Church of Corinth during a very difficult time. He was the bearer of a "severe letter" from Paul to the Corinthians. Thankfully, that situation played out well. Paul then left him in the island of Crete - not an easy place to minister - with some important tasks to complete. He must have met Paul in Nicopolis, he was with Paul during the initial days of his second imprisonment in Rome, and also in the Dalmatia region for the Gospel. Clearly, he was a great man of God - well-travelled, assigned by Paul for difficult tasks, well-trusted and loved by the Corinthians. A man to be respected and emulated.

Volunteers at church sacrificially give of their time, energy, talents, and efforts to the people of God and the Kingdom of God. A lot of work at church is done through such volunteers. Epaphroditus was one such volunteer. He volunteered to help Paul in Roman imprisonment with money and other help sent from the Church of Philippi. He almost died doing so. However, his volunteering made him a great blessing to Paul, the Philippian Church, and to us. You would also learn a unique characteristic of the Church of Philippi.
