I've only had the best experience with Shark blades, smooth after each shave. I've had the worst with feather, cuts everywhere and I've been shaving with a safety razor and straight razor since 2010 so I know it's not my technique. Literally just finished shaving with a feather blade and I'm looking like a 14 year old that's just touched a shaver.

Hello Mark. I agree that DE wet shaving makes so much sense. You can do it very inexpensively, or spend quite a bit on luxury products. The choice is yours. When I started shaving in the 1970s DE razors were already on their way out in the US. I don't exactly remember when I used it, but it was likely an injector. However, Shick had been selling a weird product that looked like an injector but it had a roll of blades in it (sort of like a cassette). It is possible that I used that. In the mid-70s disposable razors became a thing and I switched to the Gillette "Good News" double razors for a very long time. Eventually, I changed to cartridge razors, but I got sick of the cost and the incompatibility between one model and another. I made the switch to DE razors 15 years ago and never looked back. The only reason to use a cartridge razor is if you want to benefit a razor company. I get a great shave and I'm not filling up landfills with plastic when I DE shave. A DE razor is fairly inexpensive (my Merkur Barber Pole is 15 years old and looked brand new) and razors are a bargain. Thanks for the video.

Excellent review and I pretty much agree with all. I like the Personna made in USA blades that made here in the US in Vergina. Not quit as sharp as a Feather, bust sill very sharp while being milder, and they last longer than Feather. I like the Astra Platinum also and change up. I use the Derby Premium in my travel razor and keep a razor load with one for when I need a quicker shave. The Derby Premium are similar to the Derby Extra, just a little sharper but just as smooth. Was really sceptical when first time shaving with the Futur and now after 3 months into safety razor shaving, I find the Futur with Personna blades a dream pair. For me, it's all about efficiency resulted from combining the 2 components. And yes indeed the principles do work: aggressive razor needs to be paired with mild/medium blades and mild razors paired with aggressive blades. Personal examples that work for me best, while having sensitive skin and medium-hard beard: Merkur Futur - Personna Muehle R106 - Feather

Amazing video, I have Just purchased a sample pack. Very similar to what you have got. So far the Wilkinson Sword premium and Rockford blades are amazing for my sensitive skin. Anything sharper leaves little red bumps and Razor burn. I have not tried the Derby Blades yet. Thanks

Meine Lieblingsklingen sind die Feather. Bei den Anderen Klingen bekomme ich immer eingewachsene Haare am Hals.

Definitely awful, no one is hear me while speaking. There is no noise canceling option. Also, what is annoying me, is trying to pres twice for next song, it always sense first tap and pause music. it is waste of huge money. Do not buy!

The BIC, Perma Sharp and Astra SP are excellent blades. The BIC blades are the best value here in Australia. I paid $11 AUD for a 100 pack. Perma Sharp is about $19 for 100.. I use Derby Premium in my Slant razors.

The most significant contributing difference is the safety razor, not the blades. R41 is one of the greatest DE safety razors to own. Very essential & provides a close shave even if you have mild beard growth. It works fantastic with all blade types. Don’t waste your money on mild and medium safety razors. Go for aggressive open combs like the R41. Absolutely perfect especially easiest at tackling the mustache.

I use Derby Extra and get cuts, skin irritation after every shaves : ( unfortunately I live in Taiwan and there are not too many options for me to choose from I have had Astra and I think it’s worse than Durby. PS. I have thick beard.

Only one focal length and one aperture compared. I had the 28-75 and it was garbage at wide angle especially at the image borders.

Great video! I had a different experience with the Derby blades, they weren't very comfortable for me. Shaved with Wilkinson blades for years until I tried Astra greens which have been my blade of choice for about 5 years now. Just tried the shark super chrome a few weeks ago and they have become a new favorite. I've also tried tons of strange and discontinued brands over the years while traveling in the middle east (not easy to find common DE blades there), the best of which were red "diplomat" blades. Very nice. I know I tried Dorco blades as well but I think they were pretty darn aggressive. It's so interesting how varied people's experiences can be with the same items. Anyway, rant over!
