So I have wood floors original to my 1960 home and they are in horrible shape. I’d like to put ceramic tile on top of them. Is this method only for concrete floors? Or do I lay cement board then the mud/tile?

Float process post install is quite random. Likely to miss a spot or two. Float it one line at a time along x and y axis. Systematically. Meticulously.
