I used a Panasonic ES-10 in "pass through mode" SVHS connection and shielded cables. The Panasonic ES-10 is a DVD-recorder, but I am not recording on it, only passes the signal through. The ES-10 has a "strong" built in TBC which is good for "problem tapes", for normal tapes I use the Panasonic ES-15 because it also has a good TBC but I find the picture a litlle more natural.

I worry about the sound when video is playing, but I still have the audio delay for the Panasonic DMR-E55EG. I'm no longer trying Blackmagic Intensity (PRO and Shuttle) because it obviously doesn't work with the stop at dropped frames on setting (it doesn't take over the source speed), and it probably can't have been due to the jitter🤣 of my DVD player. If I came across an affordable professional TBC (new €3000 + EU customs + taxes) I would probably prefer it for my own use. The FOR_A FA-330P and the SONY MPU-F100P failed for me, but where professional starts is not exactly defined.

You can choose to scan the pages to individual JPG files and in the Kodak Smart Touch software you can choose different JPG qualities. However in this video I scan directly to pdf with OCR, the pdf files are smaller than the image files. Here are the most important settings File fype: pdf searchable, OCR language : danish, Vælg evt. PDF/A Document type = text with graphics resolution 300 dpi Quality = superior ( pdf will not be much bigger as with best ) Document: Automatically detect and straighten Border = remove Brightness Contrast = automatic Color balance = none

Yes the Kodak Smart Touch is a very good software, and you can download it free on Kodaks Homepage if you buy a used Kodak i2420 or similar

There are some differences. Nikon 4000 is firewire, Nikon IV is USB. So you need a firewire connection for the Nikon 4000. 2900 dpi = 10M pixels in the picture. 4000 dpi = 20M. Most good negatives and slides have around 10M dpi data. Very sharp pictures from good SLR camera can have op to 20M pixels. The Nikon 4000 is a little faster. I do not know this problem. But you should set the white point to 0.1 not 1 as default or you will get blown out highlights. Check my suggested settings here www.datanord.dk/tips-tricks/nikon-coolscan-vuescan-settings/ I can also recommend the faceboiok group "Nikon Coolscan users".

It depends on your connections. An example could be scart cable or svhs or composite from VCR to DVD and HDMI or scart from DVD to TV-set. Not all DVD-players can be used as "TBC" it has to be a high end DVD recorder, but many Panasonic and Sony can be used. I can recommend this forum for topics like this www.digitalfaq.com/

No not a movie. The old commercials are from VHS tapes with recordings from television including some commercials.
