Awesome way to update a classic model. I have a chassis that has needed some love for years, maybe it's time to freshen it up.

Aaaand that was my first RC car! dad bought it in the 87, when I was 7! It was crazy how fast it would go through a pack of alkaline batteries. Luckily rechargeable ones were much, much better. I enjoyed the car a lot and it still runs, but it is battered beyond words. It is awesome to see you working on it! 😊😊😊 A Tamiya Manta Ray would come later and, finally, an Inferno 😮

I've been thinking about making a 2 link at the front and trailing arm at the back Grasshopper. So I'm curious as to why you went 4 link and not the trailing arm IRS at the rear like your Grasshopper II?

I had an old one early 90s sport tuned 540 motor was good for me I was 6 lol I had a couple of air rifles too . Got dirt thrasher tuned it up did like 45 mph when I was 8. Good days 😌

Interesting setup. I've long been tinkering with a drag car setup with this axle and my ideas are similar, however, they utilize the stock axle locating rod with the slotted keepers from the Hornet. Nice to see that great minds think alike.
