1974 Dodge Monaco, beginning heavily rusty floor repair, if possible.

Fixed the flat & broken break lines, reconnected muffler, managed to start by key, and didn't dump any fluid while idling in the garage. hello sir i am having this kia soul 2016 EV @ toronto, knock in wood mine still works fine and daily driver, i am thinking to change transmission fluid , it is not CVT as well it is not manual, its kind of single speed gear reducer, can you please point which transmission fluid you filled up ? thanks in advance
Hello, the Kia oil is a 70W synthetic oil, but I used regular 75W90 oil from Canadian tire, no problems. Good luck!
@@chargerr4807 thank you so much, appreciated, also how much it is 1L or more ? do you think it is good to use the transmission flush liquid like liqui moly pro-line before fill up new oil ? just simply flush old one and fill with new ?
Currently having the exact issue with my car and the dealer wants 7K to fix.
Yikes, but from what I hear, $7K sounds cheap! Are they offering to replace the whole unit? I was quoted $12K just to purchase the part, then its another 10+ hours of labour. I think the price is roughly $20K Canadian, so you are somehow getting a wiked bargain!
@@chargerr4807 wow, yes the whole unit. I think I'm going to have to cut my losses unless I can find an independent shop that is will to do it for $4500 or less (part is about $2800 online). I might also try and call corporate because I've had issues with my car rolling while in "park" before and they couldn't replicate the issue while it was under warranty.
302 2 barrel carb with a manual 3 speed trans with 4th gear being an overdrive. Fun little car to cruise! 👍👍

My favorite year for the foxbody. Very cool car
Originally, they came with 190 width tires but in '83 TRX upped the size for Mustangs to 220mm, 390mm dia translates to 15 1/2 inches.
Why are you leaning on the car??
Because its keeping me up.... :)
a price would be nice to know
Looking for $13K Canadian, or $10K USD. If in US, there is a shipping company here that'll take care of everything for you, at a reasonable price.

Only came with 4 speeds from factory. My buddy Kirk had one of these when new, so much fun chasing tail in Frederick.
Bought mine in ‘84 with 24k miles. Drove back and forth to Norfolk Naval Base numerous times through ‘88. All stock in scarlett red and different factory rims and it was a 5-speed.
@@Propointmedia LOL, the eighties were awesome! And some cars will always be classics! You're right about the trans, its 4-speed. I will update the title. But hey, if you want to relive the glory days, she's still for sale! facebook.com/marketplace/item/3285073495135351/
@@chargerr4807 I would’ve loved to have gotten another ‘82….. been kicking myself for nearly 35 years for getting rid of it. Turning 60 at the end of this year, so I treated myself earlier this week to a black ‘08 GT/CS w/63k….. my remedy for a midlife crisis. Lol.
@@Propointmedia Awesome! I don't think you can go wrong with Mustang....unless its electric! LOL!
Were you and Kirk chasing other guys?
If the car has been undercoated repeatedly then chances are that it has 111km on the clock. You never mentioned what you're asking for it?
Thank for watching. The documentation shows the undercoating started in 1982, and every couple years since then, so the owner just wanted to preserve the vehicle. Its a true 11K Km car. Here is the kijii ad, car is available in Toronto : www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/city-of-toronto/1982-ford-mustang-5-0-gt-4-speed-11k-original-km/1696946529
where did you buy this?
I bought it at a ebike store auction. But these were sold about 10-15 years ago online. There were a few companies making them back then. But because the battery would always die, I think people stopped buying these. Now the kits they sell have separate batteries, and is a better idea.
Beautiful ❤️. Don't drop that phone😮. I love the rims and tires good choice. 👍👍👍.
LOL, sometimes you just don't want to go near a black car after a good cleaning! No trim, no bling, just black. :)
@@chargerr4807 looks fantastic 👍👍👍👍.
Hey! Could you say what's the oil volume please?
I just got this bike and I don’t know where to buy the battery from or what kind, if u could respond fast most appreciated.
Hello, this is a 24V motor, so electrically, you can use either a SLA or lithium 24V equivalent for power. The original battery shell is custom mounted to the bike and fits perfectly and locks into place. So if you have that, and its dead, you can gut it and replace the cells. If you don't have it, then you have to cobble something together to get it to work. Best of luck!
Could you please stop saying ah am so repeatedly it is very annoying.
LOL, the internet! :)
What are the bearing sizes inside the gearbox please?
I didn't replace the bearings myself, so i don't know, sorry.
If that car was sold after the 1975 models came out and was still on the dealer's lot, the dealer could have swapped the interior with another car in order to sell your car or the other car.
Interesting, I will tend to believe it. Around 1975, all the land yachts were just parked at the dealership and used car lots, no one could afford the gas. So making some more appealing, or if a customer had a wish, I can imagine how hard a salesman would work to get that sale!
Congrats on getting out for a little run around the block. I noticed you took off with you hubcaps on the trunk and when you returned a few were missing 😂😂. Hope you found them. Look forward to the next vid 👍
LOL, yes, the heavy hubcaps were holding the trunk lid down. :) I couldn't even put the tumbler back in until I turned the car around. But its in now and the lid shuts, a journey of 1000 miles..... :)
Thats amazing man! What size/spec tires are you running?
Thanks for watching! Rubber front 225/70/15, rear 275/60/15. Wheels are from Wheel Vintiques - 15" steel, 7" front, 8" rear. Reaar spacing I believe I used 4" BS and 8" rim, so 50/50.
Which cells do you attach the balance wires too and how do you know which one is 1+ to 5+?
Thanks for watching, my configuration basically duplicates the original config. All balance wires connect to positive terminals, so B1+ connects to battery 1, positive side. B1 is the first battery in the chain, where its NEGATIVE side connects to the circuit board negative lead. So battery 5 would be the last in the chain, where its POSITIVE side connects to the circuit board, and is also called B5+. If you need more help drop me a message at james@chargerr.com.
@@chargerr4807 Thanks for the quick reply, and thanks for the video!

Thats my second dream car
Sweet Ride ! Just how these car were worth nothing in the 1970's....Wish I could back and buy a few ....
Thanks for watching. Wouldn't it be nice to just pass someone in 1968 a few thousand bucks and say buy one, and put it in a barn for me!? :)
damn veautufil
The best color for a deep shine like a mirror. No color like it. However, after its been out a couple of hours, usually looks like it needs a bath. Darker colors more you see. Lighter colors less you see.
That worked a lot better than I expected. How hot does the battery get after running like that? Laptop batteries are usually made for high capacity, but low rate of draw (4-6A max). Tool batteries usually need high draw when under load (10-20A) and therefore aren't often as high capacity. I'd guess the 2-stage blower or mower might be too much for those cells. I've wanted to do a build/rebuild like this, so I'm glad to see it works, as long as the cells are relatively balanced.
Thanks for watching, yes, I was surprised how well it did, especially on one string of batteries! I haven't checked hotness, but as you correctly pointed out, LiIo are not built for high current applications, and are probably flaming to the touch, but sadly that's how they come from the factory. Not designed for longevity, oh well. Best of luck on your rebuild!
Dude!! Been wondering when you were going to get back to the Monaco. I think your biggest issue is its 50 years old 😂😂 Just kidding. Your persistence paid off. Look forward to the next episode 👍💪😎
Thanks for watching! I just can't help wanting to bring this thing back to life! I've ordered a new distributor, we'll see if that fixes the spark issues. :)
Great job , step on the brake first then press the start button. P.S. I own a 2018 soul ev and love it . 119,548 Miles
Thanks for watching! Yes, it took me a while to figure out how this car starts and operates. But despite all the idiosyncrasies, I like the little fella. And not paying for gas any more doesn't hurt either! :)
Great work getting it up and running. I am facing a similar job on my "new to me" KIA EV Soul 2015 (that also has a new battery). On another note, I have never seen s shock that bad!!!! I am a tech of almost 30 years and never seen a shock that bad!
Thanks for watching. If you are mechanically inclined, then this job is not so bad. The manual can be found online, its an amazing reference, so worth picking up. The difficulty will be finding a used gearbox! Regarding the shocks, yes, ridiculous, but I think its because the EV is so much heavier than the IC version. I used the standard Soul shocks, which I think everyone does, but I am starting to hear the back end complaining again, so I think an upgraded heavy duty shock is in order. Best of luck!
you sell it?

Thanks for the message. I don't know much about detailing, so I gave it to a local detail shop, and a thousand bucks. :) Apparently they said they had to do an abrasive cut, and then total overall buff. They say it took them about two days, so it must have been a huge job. The paint on the car is actually a GM black, with 3 coats of clear on top, so it has a lot of good base to work from they said. But yes 'cut and buff' they said. Good luck on your detailing!

Been waiting on a Monaco update. You sure went through some hoops to get the back seat out and open the trunk. Don’t give up yet on finding the build sheet. They did weird things back in the day. Try looking under the front seats. Maybe take a lighted bore scope to look under the seats so you don’t have your remove them. Also, the build sheet could be under the carpet. You never know. You might want to check for front end damage too. The code tag on the radiator support not matching the VIN or the block may be an indication they replaced the front end with a donor car and maybe swapped the 360 for a 400 while they were at it. Looking forward to more.
Awesome suggestions, and thanks for checking out the channel! Come to think of it, I do recall now folks at car meets also agreeing that the build sheet could be in a few places. I will pull out the bore scope cam and check under the front seats, carpet, and see if I can get to the headliner too. It would be stellar if I could get a hold of that sheet, because engine corrections should show up as special orders on the bottom of the sheet. Lets see how it goes! :)
Beautiful car. The amount of information you share is excellent, especially for the future buyer!
