Hey girl. I’m so sorry that happened the way it did. Your feelings are totally valid and no one should tell you otherwise. I too have had an extremely traumatic experience with a medical procedure in a hospital. For a while, I just lived with the trauma. But it took another provider/friend saying “what happened to you was not fair” to get me to file a grievance with the hospital. I wrote out an extremely detailed account of what happened and sent it to the hospital. Regardless of the outcome, it was so empowering and validating to write it in that way and to know that I may be heard. I hope you are healing well!

In Brazil people are so mixed we don't get so caught up with labelling and shaming mixed race children. We do however have lots of colorism, a fair skinned person might not experience racism the way their darker skinned sibling might, which is so messed up. But certainly for Brazilian standards with those green eyes you're "white enough" meaning you would get white privilege in Brazil. Very confusing for someone who was raised within the Black culture like yourself as to where that lands you. It's all so wrong....

If they raise the pay, they will raise the cost of everything. Making the raise not worth it for anyone. Lowering oir taxes and cutting inflation is what would help. Also, people working for the tip, rather than expecting one.

Not seeing hair color like that must be a regional thing because Black women been getting honey blonde and caramel hair colors for years. i went to a white salon, im white, but i have some strange wirey corse super frizzy hair but 5 volume goes blond in 2 seconds,i had a consult and told the girl this and asked her what her stratagy was gnna be and she immediately wanted to go with 40 vollume, i left and never went back, i said my hair will burn off if you use above 10 v on me, also white salons can never blow me out they just cant understand what happens to MY HAIR, I HAVE TO BLOW IT STRAIGHT IN A BRUSH FROM WET THEN HOT IRON IT

i provide a service and i get good tips from some of my ckients and no tips from others , i love tips but dont expect them, i farm care

when i bartended they wanted us to split tips but thats not fair because if i hussle and this other person is lazy why should they get half my tip, its to improve service

I think 20% for service industry people. Bartenders, servers, hairstylists, delivery, or taxis. A buck or two on coffee or takeout. Nothing if I'm getting it at a counter. Ie Papa Murphys. 15-25% is wild for that. Maybe a little if I had a big order. Other service providers like tattoo artists I base it on how I feel after the service. Id expect your price to be what you need to make off my business. Ill give extra because I'm extra happy.

*I am European and when I visited NY I got my hair done for $350. When I handed the cash at the counter, the owner asked how much I was going to tip. I was so confused. Like... I just paid a crazy amount already. Don't you pay your employees a living wage? I just gave her $5 and got the nastiest look ever. Oh and the result was awful*

Everyone should just charge what they are worth which would be the base & any tips should just be a bonus not something u expect. I've worked doing delivery services & I treated everyones food the same & their groceries & even made conversations on the app cus it was fun for me & guess what if people didn't tip me at the beginning they definitely did once they got their order, if anything they would even add a bigger tip without me even asking. It's just not nice to demand something out of someone when it's should be their choice to be generous & not because they have too.

I think the hard part at certain restaurants they keep increasing their automated tip buttons to 18, 20, 25%. Which is expecting a higher tip. Again happy to usually custom and tip 15% at restaurants, but it just feels like they expect you to click those even if they just stand a counter. This tipping this is also coming a big convo in the tattoo industry.

The only person I really have NO problem tipping is my hairdresser. She does a good job and I trust her to mix up color/cut my toddlers' hair (NOT an easy task cutting a 1 year-old boy's hair or a 4-year-old's), and I am fine doing that. It's fast food places that are completely ridiculous. I also hate that so many places (like takeout pizza) ask for the tip BEFORE you receive the service.

I’m originally from the US but live in Japan where the service is impeccable and tipping just is not part of the culture. The price is the price. So glad to leave the tipping culture behind. I think it’s a messed up part of the US culture. Why not just charge what you want to be paid?

Tipping is insane, I agree. But even minimum wage at like Starbucks isn't actually a livable minimum wage. I don't think it's the consumer's responsibility, however.

My new salon doesnt even ask for a tip. They just have the card on file so im not even given the touchscreen thing that auto asks for a tip. I always feel weird, should i offer to tip? Their prices are low so i dont think they've like built a tip price in.

I pay £50 for a cut and blow dry, I can't tip my hairdresser. She is actually kind enough to give me discounts on hair masks and olaplex if I book for extras, because I'm a regular.

Etiquette says to tip service workers but not business owners. For things like hair and nails, I generally still do, but I don't think it should be expected when you set your own prices.

When I was a teen waitress my tips saved up helped me to pay to work and travel Australia. When I go to a restaurant I always tip because I remember how much tips helped me. Tipping seems really rare in England these days. "My sugar mummas let it rain on me" 💛😂💜
