Hi, Joe. I'm a lot older than you are. I am a 59 year old woman and am not near sighted; I only use reading glasses for age related vision since my mid 40's. With that said, I started experiencing more floaters than usual in my right eye on January 31, 2022 with a cob web and squiggly line type situation. The cob web and lines went away that same evening within a few minutes but I experienced the increase in floaters. I called my opthamologist the next day and he got me in for an eye exam where he did a complete exam with dilation of the pupils, etc. He did not see a retinal tear or detachment but told me he'd see me again for a recheck in 2 weeks. He also explained that the reason I was seeing an increase in floaters was from something that happens as you get older called vitreous detachment where the vitreous matter surrounding the retina breaks up and causes the floaters. A few days later, I experienced even more symptoms of cobwebs and squiggly lines and what appeared to be grains of black pepper in my field of vision. I went back to my doctor, he dilated that right eye again and examined and still saw no tear or detachment but wanted to be on the safe side and referred me to a retinal and vitreous disease specialist. Upon more extensive testing at the specialist, he discovered a tear and immediately did laser retinopexy in the form of photocoagulation. (From what I've read, there are two types of laser surgery for retinal tears.) That was on 2/11/22 and tomorrow will make 4 weeks. I saw him 2 weeks in a row after the laser and the 2nd follow up he said I was healing well and I could see him again in 3 weeks, which will be coming up next Thursday, March 17. He told me to hold off on exercising so my eye has a chance for the laser "scars" to seal all around the area he did the lasering. I still see some floaters but he didn't seem to be concerned about that and said that eventually my brain would sort of "get used to them" or they may just disappear. Everything I've read seems to line up with what he says but I'm still so anxious and hope my appointment goes well next week and that I'm healing properly. Did your recovery go well and were you able to resume excising? Sorry for the long explanation, but, I was so grateful when I came across your video. I hope you're well. Thank you for your time, Josette

Hi Josette! I hope you've been doing well in your time of recovery. I know what it's like anxiously awaiting to see what will happen while your eyes are recovering. Yes! My recovery went well, thankfully. I still see a few floaters in my eyes that my retinal specialist said will not go away, like yours had mentioned to you. It's the kind of thing where if you don't pay attention to it then you won't necessarily see it. I also have another side effect where if I go from a bright room to a dark room and from standing to sitting, I'll see some flashes in my peripheral vision for a few moments. My doctor said this is normal. And YES! I'm happy to report that I was able to resume my exercising, but I waited a full month to resume my routine just to be on the safe side. I do some pretty intense bodyweight stuff in the park and since starting up again, things with my eyes has been the same post surgery. Hope all is well! Take care, Joe

Thank you so much for getting back to me, Joe. I see the retina specialist in 2 days on 3/17 and an so anxious. Hopefully I’m healing well. I haven’t exercised in over 5 weeks and am almost 5 weeks post the laser surgery for the tear. I only do moderate cardio and a little arm routine with resistance bands. Hopefully he’ll say it’s ok to resume my exercise soon. I feel so much better mentally when I can be active. This has been so nerve-wracking to me. Thank you again for getting back to me. Be well! ❤️

@@josiekwf yes I agree 100%. Before my surgery I would exercise everyday, but during the recovery period that dropped to 0 times a day 🥲. Thankfully I'm able to do what I was doing before pre-surgery. Blessings for the follow-up. I'm sure the doctor will say you're in the all clear 👌🏾
