    My Karcher/Tecumseh pressure washer started after six monts storage on the first pull. New spark plug, fuel and three pushes on the primer bulb. Then I stopped the machine after ten minutes of use but it would not start after ten minutes. Could this be due to the ignition coil heating up? Will try tomorrow morning on cold engine. Thanks

    I just got one of these pressure washers, 4 gpm with a Honda GX390 engine. What a piece of crap! It was very difficult to start at first. Finally got it started and took it to a job. Started right up but the engine had no power. Lots of white smoke and it died after a minute of running. I’ve done everything that pressurewashersdirect has told me to do and it won’t start. Hopefully they will send a replacement or refund my money.

    UPDATE:1 year and still cranks within the first 2-3 pulls. Probably will buy another when this one finally does bite the dust czcams.com/users/postUgkx43QMbQqu67IZadu9ou8Sg1BdrunMRNqX . No issues at all. Very happy with it.UPDATE: After 6 months of use and over 70 uses I would still highly recommend this pressure washer. It does vibrate a decent amount but never had it “walk” like others have mentioned. No oil leaks, still seems to run like the day I bought it. Still cranks within 2-3 pulls every time. Very happy with my purchase!Have used it about a dozen times now. Plenty of power, cranks up on 1-2 pulls every time. My only complaint would be I wish it was a little taller to make it easier to walk with it (hits my ankles a lot) and that the two hose connections were a little further apart but it hasn’t caused me any issues. Seems to run a good 1-1/2-2 hrs on a full tank, overall a well built machine and definitely worth the money in my opinion.

    It's usually not that easy on the gx390. What happens is the oil acts as a sealant on the valves, and the decompression valve doesn't work as it should. When you try and start the engine the compression rips the pull start out of your hand. To clean the valve seats, pull the spark plug, and spray carb cleaner into the hole (4-5 seconds) then pull the cord 10 times or so to blow all the cleaner and oil residue out of cylinder. Do this after you have already blown the oil out. Your decompression should feel better now. A little start fluid and a series if pulls should fire off.

Check your local name brand service center for that engine (for example, a Honda small engine service center for a Honda engine). After the unit is started, can it be left running while not keep pulling the trigger? How to properly stop the unit?

    • @BEPowerEquipment
      @BEPowerEquipment Před 2 lety

      Hi Tim, that’s a good question. You can leave it running for a short period of time without pulling the trigger. However, you need to keep in mind that the pump stays cool by having water run into it from the garden hose, then out the spray gun. If you stop spraying the water out of the gun, then the water will get trapped in the head of the pump and start building heat. To play it safe and to make sure your pump doesn’t risk overheating, squeeze that trigger at least once every 30 seconds. For proper stop procedure. Locate the on/off switch on the engine. While keeping the trigger squeezed, turn the engine off and hold the trigger for a few seconds to relieve all the pressure in the pump. This method will prevent pressure from getting trapped in the pump head and will be easier on the system. If pressure is trapped in the pump head, you may not be able to remove any of the hoses.

    I have the 4200 PSI version, and I find it helps immensely when starting to remove the tip from the wand and pull the trigger while starting, releases some of the pressure and makes it easier to start. Also getting a silver or black sharpie and marking the gas on position, choke on position. Engine oil drain plug size and pump oil drain plug size on the machine. This really helps speed things up when doing maintenance.

    • @BEPowerEquipment
      @BEPowerEquipment Před 2 lety

      If your model has no fuel drain plug, then you can turn on the engine and run it dry. Adding fuel stabilizer to the tank will also help keep the fuel in good condition and should keep it okay for a few months.

    • @prostreetgsxr
      @prostreetgsxr Před 14 dny

      @@BEPowerEquipment another good tip when running the engine, dry is when the engine starts to die off, turn the choke on, and that will help get more of the fuel out of the pilot jet, which is the small jet that is easy to clog.

    Instead of draining the fuel cant you add fuel stabilizer to the tank, run your pw and shut the fuel lever off and let it stall on its own? That way you don’t have to drain the fuel.

    • @svtbill89
      @svtbill89 Před 2 lety

      Running the fuel stabilizer through the carburetor is a good idea but i wouldn't cut fuel to let it die because you're basically leaning it out to the point of failure. If you have a high quality stabilizer and run ethanol free feul most climates will allow for you to store fuel in the system for a few months. I'm not sure how cold it gets where you're at though.

    • @BEPowerEquipment
      @BEPowerEquipment Před 2 lety

      Fuel stabilizer is helpful to maintain your fuel system and needed if you are planning to leave fuel in the tank/carb. The fuel will still be exposed to air (because the fuel tank breathes), so it will begin to oxidize and go stale, but the fuel stabilizer will make it take longer. This method should be okay for several months. If the storage time is going to be stretched longer, draining the tank and carb will be the safest method.
