AFTER THE FESTIVAL/ HIMIKO KIKUCHI (Music Composed, Arranged by Himiko Kikuchi) From her 2nd album『Flashing』(released in 1981) HIMIKO KIKUCHI 〇Her leader albums 1st『Don't Be Stupid』(1980) 2nd『Flashing』(1981) 3rd.『 All Right』(1982) 4th『Woman』(1983) 5th『Reverse It』(1984) 6th "SHINRA-BANSHO (All things that Happens in the Universe)" (1985) 7th『Flying Beagle』(1987) 8th『Sevilla Breeze』(1988, ) 9th『BEAM』(1993) 10th『HIMIKO KIKUCHI BIG BAND LIVE』(2000) 11th "Furusato ~Home In My Soul" (2005) 12th『DQ * The Live!』 (2007) Best Albums Himiko The Best "Refrain" (Continental, 1984) Feel So Good Himiko The Best Vol-2" (Continental, 1986) HIMIKO KIKUCHI BEST COLLECTION" (Continental, 1988) Himiko was born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. Started playing classical piano at the age of 7, as well as playing the electone and pipe organ. At the age of 12, she participated in the "Yamaha Electone Competition Japan" where she performed Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D minor" and won second prize. She studied composition from the age of 15 and won the Yamaha Electone Competition Japan at the age of 16. In college, she majored in music and graduated from the Music Department of Miyagi Gakuin University. In 1979, she performed at the "Montreux Jazz Festival" in Switzerland as a member of the "Inner Galaxy Orchestra led by Bingo Miki. The following year, 1980, she made her major record debut in Japan with original album "Don't Be Stupid," recorded with Ernie Watts (Sax). Since then, she released a series of original albums in the 80s and 90s. In 1999, she and her husband, guitarist Masatsugu Matsumoto, moved to her husband's hometown of Tottori, Japan. She has participated in local music activities and received the "30th Tottori City Cultural Award" in 2005. Unfortunately, her works were ignored by the music industry in Europe and the U.S., as she did not have the opportunity to sign release contracts in Western countries and international markets at her peak. So her releases albums remained in Japan, and unknown hidden from the rest of the world for a long time, until the advent of the Internet and media like CZcams.

This is really good. Thanks. I don’t recall hearing Darren Barrett even though I’m from Canada. And now I know how Jackie Mc Lean pronounces his name.
Golden age of Japanese Capitalism.
👍👍👍👍💯💥❤
WOW that solo by Kikuchi
It is almost impossible to find video recordings of Himiko, what a pity though... Also I would like to see the drummer performing on the songs, maybe one day there will be more to explore.
I would pay good money for this entire concert, wherever and whenever it was.
Realy amazing !! 🤩
Vim pela dica do Ed Motta ! 🇧🇷
i cant believe i found this video that is so obscure. I love Himiko Kikuchi’s albums its incredible to actually see her perform a song

Now everyone wants this aesthetic lol.
2:03 the best part si ini
Wow, I was in Japan from ‘84 to ‘86 and I missed this band. I have some catching up to do. That is some tasty jazz. Love it so far.
¡¡¡Que belleza!!! ¡La mejor música que puede haber!
¡¡Lo mejor de lo mejor!!

リーダーのソロが荒々しいな。理性よりも何かを優先している。
I've heard a lot of saxophonists in my time but none of them can ever compare to Ernie Watts. His style is instantly recognisable. I remember him on James Last's album "Seduction".
Powerful vocals!
Drummer-Mark johnson was ex-member of Steve Coleman & Five Elements.
ernie watts , ? so young and thin then ??
The music is of the highest quality. Thank you for posting it.
Amazing to find this! Thanks so much. Do you have any other tracks from this show? I was looking for Make up in The Morning, Cosmic Dust Blue and Higher Levels. Thanks
Nice, nice, nice, very nice 案加たづく

Thank you,i'm sorry for my late response.

Ernie Watts is just awesome on the Sax! Love Himiko though, she's a genius, all her albums were amazing :-)
Any albums you recommend in general
@@mongobongo3338 Reverse It and Flying Beagle are both excellent albums by her, there are some good uploads for these out there 😊
Steve Lloyd I love those two! I tried to find flying beagle on discogs and it was almost 70$! If I get rich I’m getting all of Himikos best works and Masayoshi takanaka
@@mongobongo3338 ah love Takanaka also, especially the Rainbow Goblin album!
@@mongobongo3338 all right is a fantastic album too!!!
It's a very very rare pearl.
great... thanks dude..
Thank you,I am glad to receive your comment.
Jun Yamamoto
