I’m at the point of this build where I’m getting to the low point mentally. Winter is setting in. It’s snowing and raining constantly. Temps are around freezing where everything is thawing and freezing creating a mess. Before we get a hard freeze I’m trying to backfill the foundation. It’s not an easy task!

Any chance you have the measurement of the distance between the shower floor and the valve of the shower column?
So reading these comments, the pan is not actually adhered to the floor since you use the plastic? Would it be worth stapling the plastic down or anything like that? i assume the mortar and the base will weigh a ton so its not like its going to be slipping around or anything. Seems interesting it wouldnt actually be "stuck" to the floor.
Cut one long piece for insides of niche and then “cut” a grout line into it, instead of using two separate pieces.
Say it one more time that you don’t want to use mortar.
I’m curious about the giant hole in your bedroom… what’s going there?
Reverse style loft to the lower level. Spiral staircase that will lead to a sitting room in the basement and French doors to the backyard.
It's good to see a video that deals with the sort of stuff you find in a remodel. This is a great video. The Panasonic instructions are marginal at best. This is real life and goes into great detail. I truly appreciate the installation in "less than ideal" conditions. Like you find in real houses.
What are your thoughts or experiences on densshield backer boards?
Never installed it, but I’m sure it works fine from what I’ve seen.
M copper should be outlawed in residential construction for any supply lines.
If you are installing pan on concrete floor…would you have to put down any kind of barrier or is the barrier only needed for wood substrates???
Yes. Add plastic. You are not adhering the base, you are setting it. I’m going to do a video on this soon to explain the difference.
Ive used pro press for 5 years NEVER had a leak when used properly HOWEVER, could have been a defective part or not inserted fully. Nothings perfect but lets say you hade 1 leak in 5 or 10 yrs, not bad😊
I am doing a huge Tile Redi shower pan. 66"x 66". Do I have to do the entire shower pan all at once or can I do half at a time? Just worried about the working time with the epoxy and a pan that size.
Use modified thinset.
Thanks for you video. We are from Depew NY and are planning a cruise in the Spring. I knew about these from a friend and am working on crocheting keyrings. I love this. It will be our 2nd cruise.
I am so glad I found your video! You answered every question I had about installing this in my shower. Thank you so much!!! What drill bit are you using? I have porcelain tile and it is a booger to drill into.
Depends on what size screw/anchor you are going to use. 😁
@@TodayIWorkOn #10 screw.
Are these just glorified yellow styrofoam…they seem so durable in your videos?
It’s actually an ABS pan that’s set in an unmodified mortar which makes them very strong and waterproof. The key is waterproofing. These pans make that happen.
I bought a tile redi pan (42x60)…it arrived today severely broken and giant cracks…seems to be a giant piece of foam….So disappointing…paid $1k for something you scrub pots with and severely damaged and rendered unusable….from the videos it looks plastic….nope foam
thank you
Which engine do you have in your sprinter? Do you guys in the US also got the new 1950ccm i4 or do you still have the old 2143ccm?
It’s the 2.1 liter, in 2021 we had a newer version on the 2.1.
Wishing you had explained the reason for that skim coat?
Just better tiling practice. You should always skim coat your thinset when tiling.
Installing my first tile ready. If modified mortar does not adhere to the backside how will it hold my tile on the front side! Different tiles call for different mortars. According to your video, modified only sticks to one side? Thx✌️
Because the unmodified is setting the base and unmodified expands to the ribbing on the bottom. Modified sucks in to the material you are sticking on to the top, which would be tile. You are not adhering the base to the floor, just setting. People have the biggest issue figuring this out.
Sweating is better
I've had propress fittings leak on M copper. Usually on a well that is acidic or really old M copper. If it's either of those I'll usually just take the time and sweat fittings on now. If it's acidic I'll mention a neutralizer to the homeowner as well.
They need to get rid of that 3" ducting all together.
If you are willing to pay for it, they are down to remove it! 😝
what brand / type of puck lights did you use?
It’s been a little since I installed them. I’m not 100% sure, but after 3 years I love them. They are such a nice upgrade over my old puck lights.
Best cleaning tip ever. Super easy and it cleaned a completely black burnt oil kettle with ease. It took a lot of cycles but its so shiny now.
That machine is barely used, I would not call it dirty. Dirty is doing four or five hundred kettles full like at a county fair for four days straight of popping.
Are you feeling ok? Serious question.
I did my bathroom DIY a couple years ago with the pan and standard mortar….. I can’t get the floor tiles to stay down. Some of them get loose every few months. I did another bathroom a few years before that without the pan and have never had problems. My best guess is that the drain gets clogged from excess hair from my daughters and is seeping its way into the mortar once it pools up in the black pan. I’m hoping that if I switch to this epoxy it will keep the water out. Thanks for the video.
If you used a non approved thinset, the tile will pop. Also, are you sure it’s a base that you can use thinset on? What year did you purchase the base?
@@TodayIWorkOnwinter of 2021-2022.
so i just had a water heater AND a leaky pipe fixed with these propress. so how do i know if mine are L, M, or K copper?
It should have a marking on it saying what size it is.
Good work-vast majority of contractors won’t take time to tamp things down !
I’m so glad I searched for ways to cleaned before using this oven cleaner 😂😂😂😂thank you! Has anyone tried it with vinegar and water?
Steam is the best cleaner. Just go with it. 😁
Great video - just bought a similar Kohler product and found your walkthrough super helpful.
how much does a steel beam like this cost?
I'm going to do a lumber/build cost breakdown in a little.
Lame commentary, worse review. Why copy Portnoy, this platform is taken boys, come up with an original idea. Why should anybody trust your pizza reviews, any credentials???
I’m from NYC. Dave is 5’3” and from Boston. He likes crappy pizza. I like actual good pizza. Our platforms are totally different. He does reviews for attention, I do them for fun. The same places I’ve reviewed as Dave’s…. He’s off 75% of the time. The man doesn’t know much about pizza. Also, I’m WAY more athletic than him. Have you seen him throw a baseball??? 😕
What credentials does portnoy have? He's not a master chef or a taste tester. People have been reviewing pizzas before him on yelp, blogs, reddit, and yt, so how's he have an original idea? Your comment wasn't really thought out properly.
@@AlboAl8 I don't know any master chef's nor taste testers; however I have eaten Grimaldi's pizza. There sauce is about as unique, and flavorful, as ANY pizza you will find. Hence, your review is garbage. The (2) on screen "personalities" from this video are lacking (1) major component: PERSONALITY!!! The "1 bite" reviews are wildly popular because they are organic, and sincere. While not intentionally trying to be comedic; the video clips are often amusing, due to the random characters on the street. There is a 0% chance your reviews/format are NOT influenced by the "barstool" reviews. The banter, background music, rating scale, etc. are 100% hijacked in your feeble attempt to grow a following. The problem is you are awkward on camera, and lacking credibility as a "master chef or a taste tester". Reviewing a successful pizza franchise, with an impeccable reputation in the pizza game, benefits nobody, except both of your egos. If you don't believe me, look at your views, and comments. Nobody cares about you; deal with it. Put the camera down, enjoy a slice and a beer, and move on. Your welcome!
@@TodayIWorkOn I could give a damn. I'm not Dave Portnoy's "fanboy". I was born in N.Y.C., and grew up on Long Island. I don't need anybody's opinion on pizza tbh. Have a great life!
Thank you for the video, got a hexagon floor to do tomorrow. First time doing it solo, last thing i wanna do is mess it up.
I was thinking about getting this but after hearing so many complaints about failing units there is no way I will now.
The aim is quite a bit more powerful on the software side. At first the easier is always better but as you get faster lap timer and data separate quickly. An aim is a piece of racing equipment and the racebox is hpde timer. You can do what the racebox does for free with a phone. It's very different.
Correct on the most part but incorrect with the for free with a phone. I had Harry’s and RaceBox is way better. I did purchase an aim solo 2dl and it’s not the easiest to deal with on the software side. 😂. I might run both because I do like the RaceBox better in a lot of ways while on track.
Is it 3.74" on center from the wall with tile?
It’s been so long, I wouldn’t remember. If I said it in the video, go with what I said there.
These video's are so helpful for the DIY'er like me.. It's the setting out/planning part which makes or breaks it and without experience you can get into a rabbit hole that you can't get out of haha..
and assume can do it to a whirlypop as well? and what if used baking soda instead salt i assume both would work as its a form of salt?
Can you make a video how to relace valve?mine is dripping
bad JAW because there are scratches on the top of the clamp ,you can hurt yourself because of the scratches visible on the connectors
In your video(s) you strongly recommend using un-modified mortar (Thin Set for concrete floor)… Tile Redi days use N/S type mortar (Brick mortar)…you mention being dissatisfied with the “S” version…Are the N/S un-modified mortas? Iam clueless on this subject and that is the reason for questions..TY
Correct. All 3 are unmodified, it’s just that tile redi changed its wording so people don’t install “modified” mortar. That was a big issue years ago when they just said unmodified. The S/M mortar clears up the confusion. Unmodified mortar is just fine.
We've got 5 brand new vans from benz, all have less than 1,000 miles have the same problem with ours that you are going through. Biggest piece of shit ever
What kind of engine do you have?
I don’t have a leaking issue, but mine just stopped cooling. It will only get down to about 69 without me laying on it, and doesn’t stay cool at all while I’m on it
yep wire nuts and isolation tape, smells like america to me
Thanks for sharing. My question is why didn't you continue building the rest of the house with it? For strength and greater insulation I would just do the whole house in concrete. But great content. Thanks for sharing.
The cost to build a 10,000 sqft house would be something I couldn’t afford in concrete. I’m taking donations though! 😝
I bought a used whisper fan and don't have the flex adjustable bracket. What's the best option here? Thanks great vid.
You have to rig something up. I would make a 1x frame with metal or wood. What you can also do is call Panasonic and ask them to send you a new bracket.
I have a 2021 Sprinter 2500 and I feel your pain. I purchased a scan tool when I got the light. The code was for the EGR valve which I would love to, well ya know. Took it into Mercedez and they informed me that I did not fill up the DEF and said nothing about the EGR valve. Last time I went into see them. I do my own repairs now.
Once my extended warranty is expired, that’s my plan.
What scanner you got? I just got myself Ancel BZ700 for w907(2021) My countdown is on SIX lol😢
Best straight to the point informative video
Thank you.
In terms of water proofing and longevity; no concerns about installation times…does tile ready have a clear advantage over cement backer board products like USG or Perma and roll on water proofing?
Concerning on the walls? Or making a shower pan out?
@@TodayIWorkOn is there a clear advantage for using tile redi shower walls over cement backer boards
Thats crazy high if youre going to build your own house. Look up Thermomass and then rent commercial concrete forms. Theyre easy to use. You are wrong about the price, saying you know its more for a poured wall even though you didnt price it. These are like all prefab and its sold as low labor and quick set.
What’s exactly “crazy high”? Concrete has skyrocketed in price since covid. After being in the trade for a long time, I’ve always liked the idea of superior walls because it’s a great system. A 6100 sqft foundation is big money in block or forms. My friend that built a 12,000 sqft house with a 4500 sqft basement with a pour spent over 120k on the pour. Talking to my local concrete guy that does block foundation told me there was no way he would be able to touch the cost of the superior walls and the time it would have took to lay the block would have taken quite a while. I had no desire to rent commercial forms and set up a 28 corner concrete wall system. That would set me up for failure. 😂. Low labor and quick set is a great option. Time is money. R21 insulation is awesome. Level from 140’ from one side to the other is awesome. Etc. You should look a little deeper into this system than just writing it off.
@TodayIWorkOn Go look at the product I mentioned and price out that way. I'm guessing the savings is about half the cost. Guessing that amount can guarantee labor shows up.
