The Al Aqsa mosque being violated by israeli security forces was actually what that operation was named after, and the preservation of this religious agreement over holy sites, and israel's violation of this, is a huge reason as well. It must be maddening to rely on the beneovolence of a government expressingly representing a different faith officially, to not mess with your holy sites, or close them down for access like they have done in east jerusalem over the past decades especially

This video got me thinking then got me doing. I went and turned my old PCs. My childhood PCs. I just had to take this time to archive all my old work. My drawings, my minecraft worlds, my screenshots. Whatever memories I could imortalise in digital form. So. Thank you. More people should hear this message. Even if it's not just Minecraft. The past deserves to be remembered.

If you make merch it needs to be good quality. LA Apparel or equivalent shirts, not Bella Canvas. You can get creative with the designs. Take some influence from Online Ceramics shirts. Just don’t sell cheap, thin shirtsa like every other YTer and podcaster does. I’d rather pay Online Ceramics $50-60 for well thought out, well designed clothing that lasts a decade, than buy disposable shirts like everyone else wears.

In a weird bit of coincidence, the new episode of the Lions Led By Donkeys podcast that came out today involves boats from WWI that weren't made of concrete, but did have their hulls filled with it in an attempt to make them work as a blockade. TheBritish sunk them in the mouth of a canal in Zeebrugge to block a German u-boat base. The concrete was meant to weigh them down so they couldn't be moved. It was cleared within a month, and the British had about 500+ people killed or injured to do it, while the Germans lost 8 (mostly a bicycle group that got exploded) with 12 injured.

Atlantis is a crazy name for a ship, esp considering how superstitious sailors are

I’ve actually seen the wreck of the Atlantus the one and only time I ever went to sunset beach about ten years ago, it honestly reminds me more of the Sindia, a British ship that beached itself in a storm a ways up the shore from Cape May, in Ocean City, in December 1901, and its wreckage was plainly visible until the 1980s, when it finally sunk beneath the sand between 16th and 17th street. There used to be a restaurant named after it in town (used to go there a lot when my family vacationed there when I was a kid), and they’d give you a brochure about it and everything

I never realized there was such a notable history behind the concrete canoe challenges my old college participates in!

Don't the descriptions, "situation starts neutral, ends much worse," and, "humor is deliberately disturbing, even sickening," describe most of Adult Swim's best animated series? Like _The Venture Bros., Aqua Teen Hunger Force_ and even _Rick & Morty_ ? They *all* use dark, violent absurdity and transgression for comic effect. They all subvert the conventions of traditional storytelling. And they all play stupid on the surface while being clever, witty and trenchant underneath (or at least trying to). This particular combination is not only the AS house style, it's the standard recipe for stoner humor going back to the _Zap! Comics_ era. I'm not trying to take anything away from _X:RA,_ but it's not sui generis. The qualities you celebrate in this vid place it within an established tradition.
