It really started with the video of Jennifer taking her first unobstructed breath with her new lungs after transplant in October of 2017 thanks to a beautiful woman named Lacey whose loss has forever changed our world. Four Year Wedding Anniversary Update
For the 4th anniversary of our wedding, Jennifer and I retraced our steps. Breakfast were we ate the day after our wedding and then revisiting the Union Depot where we were married!

That’s how I felt when I got my trachea took out then I had to have a lung transplant in Houston and now I’m better and it happened when I was 15 now I’m 16
My dad’s going into a double lung transplant at midnight tonight. Wish us luck!

Jennifer recieved a double lung transplant, which means that the donor of the lungs is dead
I felt little bit emotional 😢
We still get a little emotional each time and it's been over 6 years.
I love showing this to prospective respiratory therapy students to see some of the cool things that RTs get to do.
We are grateful for the RTs who helped Jennifer for years leading up to the transplant. They are amazing! Keep sharing!

It was done at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, in the US. Wonderful job and people!

Wanted to share an update, Jennifer and I recently celebrated the six year anniversary of her double lung transplant on October 19th, 2023, and the beautiful gift from Lacey which has given us so much life we didn't expect! Her annual checkups were excellent and she's doing well living each day!

absolutely amazing.
The look of shock on her face after extubation is just priceless and so sweet. Plus that little "Hi" afterwards. 😊 I hope she's doing okay still.
The "hi" gets me every time. She's doing great and is less than 2 weeks from celebrating 6 years since the transplant! Still can't believe all we have been through and her amazing spirit!
Of course that’s what you like about your job. This moment summarizes another milestone in humanity. Don’t listen to those who downsize our importance, we are the universe.

Because anything causing sickness is a major risk after transplant and the masks are to protect the patient.
I shared the story on my Facebook in 2018, so I saw a snippet of the clip again this morning. As if I wasn't already sure that I wanted to be an organ donor, seeing this moment again reminded me of why I made that choice 19 years ago. Thank you for sharing such a special moment.

It’s crazy how fulfilling she must’ve felt. The look in her eyes gives off the same look of a baby experiencing life for the first time. She’s absolutely astonished that she can breathe again

It’ll be eleven years for me this May 21st. I relive my first breath several times a day.
So do the new lungs work as good as your original lungs when they were healthy. Would you say your lung function declining over time or staying about the same. Do you have any bouts with rejection they had to resolve. Also is it hard to keep from getting sick or colds like when you go out are you always careful. Glad its worked out well I'm just wondering some things about it from someone who knows.
@@jamesrich8463 I’ve been very fortunate with my new lungs. Hard to say if they’re as good as the old ones since I’m 72. I spent one night in the hospital after an endoscopy. Had a fever so I stayed. Home next day. No signs of rejection so far. At least my lungs. [;0) at first I was paranoid as hell. Then I was able to relax a bit. Always carried a mask and was aware of someone showing signs of illness. Mostly though life was normal. Blood tests and doctors visits the only true inconvenience. I do have bouts of nausea from time to time. Not sure if it’s my meds or not. Then there was Covid. Didn’t go out for two years. The only real downside is that I think my donor may have passed on an allergy or two. Small price. 🙏
@@grobish Hello. It is great to see that you're doing so well, after 11 years! What a BLESSING!!! I'm a candidate for double lung transplant, 54 years. I'm not O2 depending, but I had to use it some days during exacerbations, and I'm very limited due to Bronchiactasis and recurrent Pseudomona infections, since I was very young...Please, may I ask you how was your first days after surgery ( if you were intubated after you woke up) and then, the first months recovering?

I really couldn't hold back my tears because my wife has to undergo a lung transplant and I hope that one day I will see her pain decrease...I'm so happy for her ❤❤

Happy anniversary. I saw a video of Jennifer breathing for the first time on TikTok. The video made me cry. I immediately came to this channel to see how she is doing. Doing she still have cystic fibrosis or did the lung transplant cure that? God bless both of you and God bless all donors.
Jennifer is doing great! She still has Cystic Fibrosis, but not in her lungs so she's able to breathe.
