Woodmizer LT 70 Super Setworks 101
zhlédnutí 239Před 5 měsíci
This is a quick how to video I shot for my buddy Jared who recently got a super 70, and it was too long to send in a text message so now I'm uploading it here so that others can benefit from it as well. I was trying to make it as quick as possible while still covering as much as I could think of with no preparation or thought going into making this spur of the moment video. Hope it helps, enjoy!

Cruisin’ around in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of New York. In our group we had two Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4’s (kickin ass and takin names), a Suzuki King Quad 500, Suzuki Vinson 500 and a Polaris RZR. Sorry about the camera quality, I was driving with one hand holding my phone, I did the best I could!

Sawing my first log on Hurdle mill
zhlédnutí 1,5KPřed 5 lety
Sawing first log on Hurdle. Red pine..taking it easy cause didn’t have the cab shield in place and the dogs weren’t grabbing at first..working the bugs out. Freshly hammered saw but alot of the bits are junk didn’t take the time to sharpen yet. There is still alot of stuff to do to get it dialed in, just finally got to the point where I could saw on it so I did lol..

Wow, that is an upgrade from the last time I was there. You run the LT70 outside all the time now ?
I brought it outside for a job sawing long logs that required an extension, and the logs wouldn't fit thru the door, nor would the mill and extension fit inside. So I brought it outside and it's been there ever since! It gave us much more room to saw longer logs on the Hurdle mill.
We have a lt35 right now but ordered a lt70 that looks alot different than the simple set we are using currently. Thanks for the how to on the controls.
I realize that I didn’t go into any great detail about how auto-up or down works, I meant to say that it just sets board thickness from wherever your head position currently is with no correlation to the bed. It’s not a stack like pattern mode is. Also I didn’t go over how to change the sets if you need any help with that leave a comment!
Good work ! But down here in the south we build a very simple machine from scrap iron and a few hydraulic components called a tie stacker . Lol
Do you still have a baker multi head resaw your selling?
No I sold my baker resaw a cpl years ago
Cheers.
Como faço para adquirir uma máquina dessas?
A grader might look at this lumber and call it “WHSS” - or “Worm Holes - Structurally Sound”. I am in the process of rehabilitating my old (1997) LT40 Super Hydraulic on my channel. Check it out if you’re interested. I like your channel. Just subscribed!
That's one bad son of a b**** right there
I’m wanting to buy one of these to help with pallet supply lumber, as well as custom cuts. Do you have anymore videos or tips and tricks to be successful?

😂
I like it!
Did you find out what it was ?
If I did I don’t remember lol! That was my old mill the LT40 super
Finally a video with an efficient sawyer! I wish more mill operators knew how much faster they could saw!
For your video talent, I would move the camera much less fast when panning.
Long time ago so I imagine you know this by now, but if you adjust the DT setter it will also lock the blade before setting the teeth.
It’s not physically possible to clamp first then set with this setter unless you added springs to the clamps.
Are you still sawing on the Hurdle?
Yes, but mostly on the lt70
Been sawing alot on the hurdle lately…figured out a sawing issue I’d had since I bought it now we are flying with it
more money then brains...
Your message is funny - but not the way you think it is.
For sale so soon after buying? I've run bigger mills like this most of my life but looking into the WoodMizers. Which do you prefer to cut cross ties (given the speed, maintenance, waste, and overall ease between the two), the Hurdle or LT70?
Hurdle for sure for cutting cross ties. Woodmizer better for sawing pine or specialty hardwood
Hello what motor and air capacity does the fan have I want to put one too Thanks
I want one bad what brand and size is your?
Edward Gay its the woodmaster one
nice work
Maurice Fancey thanks!
You record like I do lol
JOHN WARKENTIN Lol
Thanks for answering I need one we live in Nikiski Alaska and have a lot of trees on our property
yea no problem..this mill is a really awesome mill I have I think 1600 hours on it now, and it's been great so far. I put in a Hurdle circle mill so we've been running that a good bit too, but I always like the super 70
Nice mill how long of a log can you cut with the LT 70
JOHN WARKENTIN 16’ers is all I care to cut. Technically the blade will move down the rail like 20’6” or something but 20’ers are miserable to cut. I don’t like to go any longer than 16’s (with trim of course), then the dragback works normally and all that jazz.
Who is activating the kicker? Awesome setup. I'm moving into high production milling and I am really trying to study the work flow of some lt70 production mills. Also is that kicker home made or factory?
At the time I had it ran to the sawyer. Currently I moved the green chain to the back of my Hurdle mill and I have it so that the guys tailing control the kicker. It's handier than all hell to have that kicker for the big ties and cants we cut. Makes it a whole lot easier. We never pull ties, just kick them into a pile and roll them tight together with a cant hook.
Nice job💪efectiv saw🖒🖒
Must be practice on new mill!
I hope the sawyer learned a lot more since then.... wasting a ton of good lumber....
Lots of waste. With a circle mill it takes 4 truckloads of logs to produce the same amount of wood that a bandmill cuts in 3 truckloads!
BeAnAyEf Huhuhuh not cutting cross ties
Ok that would make more sense
I do not have time for one of them little time waster bandmills... to each their own !!
Very efficient operating! That's how I like to see a woodmizer run. There's many bandmill operaters who don't run their mill to max efficiency. I run an LT40 HD and it's not nearly this fast but I try to run it to it's max. With two offbearers we can cut a triaxle truck load of grade poplar in two days.
Not using the debarker on those dirty logs is not efficient.
Question about “auto down”. Say you are in auto down mode with 2” drops programmed. You make a cut, use the drum stick to lift the head to clear the log on the return. Once you are back at the operators position does hitting the drum stick down lower the head 2” from your last cut or 2” from the where you raised the head to?
William Morin it will set it from where you were when you turned auto down mode on. Up is on the house, go up as much as you want, when you hit down it will bring you to the next cut and give you a 2” thick cut.
4x4American thanks for the reply!
Very fast work. Congrats for the skill.

No way a wood mizer is more robust than a baker 3665.
How much is the cost for that LT70 and where in the US can I buy one.
Looking good. Thats what I need.
Where you guys located
Fort Ann NY
Pretty cool!
good work on your sawmill, I just rebuilt a 1985 edmiston sawmill .
How much did your sawmill cost?
That will speed things yup for ya
nice mill , sure beats the bandsaw!
Thank you for posting this. I have an LT35 Hydraulic and am just getting into low production. It's a lot of work moving everything around by hand. It is great to see how a real business does it more efficiently. I have been having a really hard time finding any video of how people are setting up for efficient production with the Woodmizer portable. So far this is the best I have found, looks like you are doing a great job. Thanks again for the video.
Jason Neugebauer thank you!
Пан,станок надто складний.Багато лишнього.
Is that the engine driven hydraulics? Very fast compared to my LT 50. I like.
yes engine driven hydraulics
ya I have an lt35 with 50 hrs on it and it moves kinda slow compared to other lt35 units I have seen on youtube. I bought it used and I'm wondering if I should start troubleshooting...., its not super slow, but just noticeably slower than what I've seen. kinda like my brain wants to move faster than the mill. its torture
Makes my LT40 hydraulic seem slow!
BeAnAyEf Huhuhuh that’s because it is brother. If you want to keep up with us then go trade the beginners model and step it on up Take care and be safe out there
You are definitely faster than Woodmizers sawmill shootout operators! They should have you take care of the shootout.
How has your new work flow improved on your board foot per hour rate?
Dumb
What kind of engine dose it have?
