Alex DePue began studying classical violin at age five. He won his first university-level competition at age 10, and later (age 14) won a competition which entitled him to a performance at NYC's Carnegie Hall. Later teaming up with legendary elec. guitarist, Steve Vai, DePue has traveled the world playing everything from Classical music, to Hard Rock / Heavy Metal with Steve Vai.
His latest studio effort (2018) "Modern Paganini", has been extolled as one of the greatest fiddle records ever produced. One-man-band.
Alex DePue, with guitarist Miguel De Hoyos, invitees as featured performers at the global launch of "ArtsGames", an effort to bring the arts back into the International spotlight, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

My deepest apologies and sympathy to the family and relatives of Alex DePue, at the time of my comment I was unaware of his passing. I had just begun an admiration of his unique musical abilities.
I discovered this scene 10 years ago when I was finishing my bachelor in a country, then I moved to another country to work and kept listening to it. Then I moved to a third country to work and do Phd and still still listen to this piece when I am on my own. Your art have been with me in many places at different times when I am on my own. Thank you very much. All love.

Ironically, David Garrett sold this fingering and bowing technique as his own idea multiple times in interviews on German television. I was obviously in the knowing minority that had seen the original open mic night video a long time before. Garrett is, no doubt, a technically excellent violinist, but i could never forgive him for that on a personal level. Love your stuff, Alex!
I don't know what to say... Alex was and will always be a legend! I barely knew him personally but still feel a deep connection to him and his legacy.
Thank you.. he truly is a legend, and as his surviving wife, I am still hoping to find more ways to share his magic with the world. RIP Grand maestro... I was extremely shocked when I read the news, I remember to felt in love with the violin first times I watched your videos by total hazard, since this day, I started the violin and after 4 years I still practice hardly many hours per days. Alex you clearly CHANGED my life for time and i'll register my son ( who is actually 16 months ) to a music school for the violin when he'll 4/5 years old, all this because I discovered you, you're always be the best for me !

Noah! Aria here. I think about you and your family so much, all of those lessons I was lucky enough to listen in on. You were so special to Alex. He believed in you probably more than you even know, and that says something, because he didn't exactly hold back with his words. He was so happy to brag about you any chance he got. I try to believe he really is looking out for us, finding ways behind the scenes to help us keep going. Lots of love to you, your mom, sister, and dad. I hope we can catch up soon.
