I did this when I was 49. I am 80 now and I can't do it any more. But I still have those memories of being up in the Rockies chasing the elk and mule deer. Great hunt and video. Congratulations.

I already walked about three miles in the woods got all set up with a clamber. Went to put a bolt in the bow. You guessed it left my arrows in the back of the truck. Pretty dumb. Got back to the truck i parked on a smalk place off the road and to make matters worse ny truck slid down the bank and up against a tree. After about 2 hours and 4 cars passed me a fine young man stopped and pulled me out of the bank. About half the back of the truck all scratched up. Hunting is so much fun. Went home and drank a few cold ones and was not a happy camper. Needless to say went out the next day rememberd to take ny arrows and park the truck in a safe place. Sat that day till dark seen one Squirrel. Happy Hunting. Am 76 now and still hunting but will never forget that day. Still hunting yet but hope i dont forget where i parked my truck.

My granddad said the little store he went to when he was a kid sold 22 bullets individually for the people who couldn't afford a whole box he was one of those people. They were poor but such an amazing family he hunted to feed the family and fought in ww2 in the army big red one. I thought that man walked on water loved trapping and hunting with him and god how i miss him stil after all these years i still think of him every time I hit the woods. Love your show

I’ve never cheered on someone through a CZcams video like this video. This was truly awe inspiring. Living in the eastern US in Kentucky, I long for spaces away from people, cars, and development.

Congratulations. I have so many elk that slipped me over years & still have never got 1. I had crosshairs on a 6x but needed a lean. Was sneaking closer & boom. A guy shot him. I was so sure nobody in country but me. Consider a Jack Russell or Beagle. Teach it to find your game you will never lose another. They exude an odour through hoof when wounded. Good on you for persevering but you were breaking your heart in my opinion. That catch I have had it. Just too much.

I Live with no outside sounds, it's so relaxing and just comfortable like a warm blanket in the winter. Love what you do, Me and my wife are off grid and live on venison, would Love to be avle to Harvest an elk someday, good video as always!

Public land elk hunts are more durable than most eastern states hunters realize. I've been been going to MT for the last 10 years and taken a couple 300"+ P&Y bulls, all public archery back country. I absolutely love it!

1999 first time elk hunting with a recurve in Coloarado I wrote in my journal never coming back. I went again in 2000, 2003, 2005, & mule deer bow hunting in 2006 & 2017. I'm 61 now an not in good shape but still dream of the mountains. Want to go back and it might happen as I now own mules 😉. I plan to at least go out fly fishing.

what brand are your outside layer pants and jacket you mentioned? Also, what brand is your sleeping bag? Good luck on the trip!

I was in the Army for 22 years, we did a lot of ‘camping’, we were doing a different kind of hunting. I have yet to do an elk hunt, hopefully soon I’m getting old 60, keep on keeping on, thanks for the real videos, your awesome brother.

I would love to do that i have a really bad left knee that will not bend very much but i still want to its so beautiful in the mountains i have only seen it though a tv or phone screen but o it looks amazing congratulations to you both
