    This is a temporary fix. Once the fabric coming out, most likely it will come out from all the areas so it's better to replace the whole matchng color fabric. The aproximate cost would be 15k. One challenge you might face is to find the same matching color fabric.

    Thanks for sharing this video. How long does the job take to change the oil filter housing ? Mechanic mentioned the issue is causing my coolant reservoir to drain. Could you please verify if this is 5 hour to 9 hour job? How much should this job cost if using OEM ? Also how would you ensure there is no misfiring of cylinders given it involves shifting and removing the housing manifold..

    • @rsingh6438
      @rsingh6438 Před měsícem

      It will take about 8 hrs. If the seal is defective, coolant will leak. Use good quality seal because you don’t open this frequently. I used earling, it cost me about 5000 for the set. Change the complete set of seal. OEM seal would be around 10000. I changed my oil cooler also as it was rusted. Clean the intake manifold as well as intake port also. There is no chance of occurring misfiring. Don’t worry about that. Happy motoring.

    What another dumb BMW design. Plastic caps on the front of the engine...what could go wrong? So, I have had both my 2017 430i (48k miles) and 2019 X3 (67k miles) into BMW for various reasons and during the "courtesy" vehicle inspection they found these caps leaking on both vehicles. They want to charge me about $700 per vehicle to replace. What a scam. This is a $10 part (should be a screw on never need to be replaced metal cap, but that's my opinion) and I can do this myself. I already did the 430i and you dont need to use a screwdriver to pry it out. Simply use long needle nose plyers and these will pop out with a little bit of pressure. Replacing is like R Singh shows here, push it in and then use a little adapter (I used PVC pipe piece) and a small mallet to pop it flush. Again, a lot of cars in the 2015+ range with these caps are now hitting mileage that require these to be replaced and BMW is making a boat-load of $$ for .02 cent pieces of plastic...that is why these are #1 on the "courtesy" vehicle inspections and most unwitting customers are going to pay $700 to replace.

    What year is your X3? I have a 2013 X3 that has a crank, no start issue and I have ruled out all fuses, the ISM, and the wiring harness connections. I am thinking DME is bad, but perhaps this problem could be related to what you were seeing.

    • @rsingh6438
      @rsingh6438 Před 3 měsíci

      Pl do a scan to get an error code and start from there. For a diesel engine, cranking but not starting would be a problem of fuel starvation.

    Nice job. I have the same engine, I notice a small leak when I park overnight, the oil is dripping around the sump drain bolt area. I check but I can't seem to find where it is coming from, I am assuming it is coming from the top since it takes a while to drip on the floor. I am not loosing oil level. Could it be the oil filter housing gasket seeping a little. Based on your experience when the oil filter housing gasket is leaking where on the bottom it is dripping from

    • @rsingh6438
      @rsingh6438 Před 3 měsíci

      You will find oil leak on the left side of the engine below the oil filter housing. It will fall on the bottom plastic guard and will find its way towards the opening below the drain plug. If your car is about 10 years old, then it is highly likely that the leak is from the oil filter housing.

    can you explain how to change the one on the other side?

    • @patrickc4360
      @patrickc4360 Před 5 měsíci

      The one on the other side is blocked by a metal bracket holding the ac compressor and alternater onto it, air intake, ac compressor and the support block/bracket need removing/ compressor needs to be unbolted and pulled gently to side, not for the faint hearted , big enough job doing the 2nd, left one was handy as in video, THE OTHER IS DEFINITELY NOT

    • @alcarmad
      @alcarmad Před měsícem

      I have done this job and there is just enough space to pull it out with long needle-nose pliers. I did not need to unbolt anything. You just have to fold the engine shroud (fabric?) out of the way by unclipping the 4-5 plastic clips and then there is just enough room to wiggle out the old one and pop in the new one. At least that was my experience.
