Interesting to note, specimens planted in Ireland, the UK and Oregon in the past 20 years are enormous and healthy. Specimens in Aus planted at the same time or earlier are typically smaller and scraggly. The reason it was undiscovered and almost extinct - it’s a relic of a long gone temperate Australian climate. It doesn’t belong in its native environment.

I would love to go back and do a comparison of the photographs with today.

The Brutality of the British in Ireland was appalling. I live 5 minutes away from Kilmainham Jail museum, and I have been in the cells in the East Wing, reason was that I deliver goods to the Jail and they stored some goods in the cells. The system has since changed and I have no longer been asked to take goods to the East Wing. The cruelty to prisoners by the Brits was disgusting. I had an English friend that visited the Jail and did the tour, and he told me he was ashamed of what his countrymen did in that Prison.
