Interferences
While traveling, I accidentally discovered an interesting station on the air.
Look like that the transmitter had a some defect and was not functioning properly
causing significant out-of-band emissions.
I believe the owner was notified about the issue with their transceiver, as I have not observed these interferences on subsequent visits.
Please use only serviceable TRX.
Good luck and 73!

Hello, Yes, there's a bit of confusion. I know a several users also attempted to connect a GPS via pin #3 without success. Please carefully read the original Operating Manual (2111A-KS-1), specifically on page 19, in the top right corner: "[GPS/CAT] ② SERIAL OUT/RXD (GPS DATA IN)." So, what does this mean? When using CAT, pin #2 serves as data output. However, if you change the setting in the transceiver (field 028) to utilize an external GPS, pin #2 undergoes a change in its properties, now functioning as a data input. The Yaesu FT-991A is a powerful transceiver with numerous features and flexible settings. Delve into its functionality as thoroughly as possible. By adeptly applying various settings, you can achieve excellent results. 73!

That was good investigative tech work! Thanks for sharing! The only thing I would have done different: set the power levels to 10w, 32w, and 100w so the s-meter is evenly divided as the powers are increased. Each power level increasing by 5db, which is almost an s-unit. For me, I guess I would have used 4w, 20w(for 10mhz),100w - each power level 7db apart and a very even progression up the s-meter and quieting of the receiver at the other end. To alter the backlight color, a complete disassembly of the front panel is required. Exercise caution during this process, as both the LCD and the controller on the PCB are sensitive to static and mechanical damage. At the top of the LCD module, there is a small strip with LEDs. Ensure you select LEDs with the same size as the factory-installed ones but with the desired color. Hello, thank you for your interest in my project. That board is a dual, back and forward converter (adaptor) TTL to RS232. I use it because my GPS receiver has only TTL output, the transceiver itself has RS232. Ask Google: "max3232 module" And you will find a lot of variations of this board. About your GPS: Use the GPS receiver with an RS232 line. You will need to send data in to pin #2 on DB-9 Menu #028: GPS select. GPS1 or GPS2. (GPS2 constant update of the coordinates) Menu #029: RS232 rate. The data speed of the GPS and FT991 must be matched. You know, I bought high quality crystal made by Citizen, Japan for the $1.5 which is giving me accuracy +/- 1-3 seconds per month When a regular crystal will cost approx $0.1 and gives accuracy +/- 5-45 seconds per month.

Hi guys, thank you for your comments. I will experiment with both of them, and then decide which one works better for me. If you want, I will let you know how it goes.

A good idea. One option would be to use a DPDT switch and send the unused antenna either to ground or through a 50 ohm resistor. That'd prevent noise and leakage between the two antennas or, if the switching is between two transceivers, RF from the hot one from getting into the other.

Лампочку 12В в разрыв провода заземляющего сигнал добавь. Будет как контролька наличия питания на сигнальном проводе но при этом так же заземлялка...
