      When we purchase vehicles at a sale they are supposed to disclose mechanical and cosmetic problems. If they don't then we can notify them of the discrepancy.

      These are pretty common for the timing belt tensioner failing around 100k. Sometimes it is a little earlier and sometimes a little later.

      @JT-jg8le Před 2 měsíci

      It does it only during a cold start when it'd been sitting overnight. It goes away 5 minutes or so and never makes the rattle noise for the rest of the day. Just does it if it'd been sitting for a while. To me it seems like the oil falls out of the top of the engine overnight. If it is the tensioner, it would keep making rattle noise. Don't you think you are wrong saying it's the tensioner?

    • @integrityautosource4092
      @integrityautosource4092 Před 7 dny

      @@Dallascowboys23 It depends on the quality of part that you use and how much you replace. We always reccomend to do the whole kit which includes the timing belt, water pump, and the tensioner. We also use the Aisin kit, so that with labor normally runs $1,200 - $1,500. Honda dealer is normally close to $2,000 to do it.

    Are you able to replace it from the topside or do you have to remove the timing chain cover? Both intake and exhaust or just intake?

    • @integrityautosource4092
      @integrityautosource4092 Před 9 měsíci

      The timing cover has to come off. Timing chain has to at least be loose. If the chain can be held in place and does not come off the other sprockets then you don't have to reset it.

    Thanks for posting and commenting what’s the problem. I had the same noice coming up for 2-4 second only during cold Start when car is sitting for 2-3 hours. Did you fix it yourself or got it fixed by mechanic. How much one is looking at to get it fix?

    • @integrityautosource4092
      @integrityautosource4092 Před 10 měsíci

      We are a shop and we did fix it. It is the VVTI which is common on the Toyota stuff. On the Honda engines it is called a VTC actuator. Toyota is more labor intensive. Off the top of my head, i believe it is about a 18 hour job according to our shop time book. The Honda normally books for about 7. We typically do the chain and guides while we are there and most of the time it is preventative. The noise will continue to get worse over time.

      It has a bad transmission. 2012 and newer will have a judder when the torque converter tries to kick in and and that requires a transmission software update and a full transmission fluid service. (The dealer recommends 3 drain and fills) This one has a transmission that is jerking just when cold. It needs a transmission replaced.

    Air being pushed by the pistons into the cooling system?

    • @integrityautosource4092
      @integrityautosource4092 Před 11 měsíci

      It has a blown head gasket. When the gasket is blown it allows exhaust gases to come through to the radiator and coolant reservoir.

      @integrityautosource4092 Před 2 měsíci

      @@WheresiNfinity There is a good chance that it is a blown head gasket. You can do a pressure test on the system or do a chemical test and both of those will tell you if it has a blown head gasket. If not, flush the radiator a few times to get the junk out of it and see if it comes back.

      These engines are very common for oil consumption issues, just like they were in the 07-09 Toyota Camrys and Rav4s. Our assumption is that this one has been driven about 800 miles and the oil is low enough that the oil light is coming on.

  • @ronaldelliott4373

    Sounds like an oil change that got half done. Check and see if a new oil filter is hiding in plain sight. Hope that’s the explanation, every other one is gonna suck. It’s a good thing you checked. Best of luck.

      Yes. it is the VVT system. On Hondas it is called a VVT actuator. On a Toyota is is referred to as a cam phaser.
