Ciro Guerra - Q+A Session with Colombian Director
[2017 Cultural Event] The Colombian writer and director Ciro Guerra will attend this special screening of his 2009 film "The Wind Journeys" for a Q&A session moderated by Dr Louise Sheedy from the National Film & Sound Archives.
This Cultural Project is possible thanks to the Plan of Promotion of Colombia Abroad developed by the Embassy of Colombia in Australia, and the support of the ANU Film Group and the Australian National Centre for Latin American Studies - ANCLAS.
“The Wind Journeys / Los viajes del viento” is a 2009 Colombian-German-Argentine-Dutch coproduction drama written and directed by Ciro Guerra. It was filmed in 80 locations in Northern Colombia. The film follows the trip of the vallenato musician Ignacio Carrillo (portrayed by real-life musician Marciano Martínez) who is followed by Fermín, a young boy who wants to be his apprentice, in a journey to return his instrument to his original owner, the man who once was his mentor.
The Wind Journeys was part of the Official Selection of the “Un Certain Regard section” at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival and was awarded with the City of Rome Prize "Arco Iris Latino”. The film also won the awards of Best Colombian Film and Best Director at 2009 Bogotá Film Festival and Best Colombian Film and Best Director at 2010 Cartagena Film Festival and the Best Spanish Language Film award at 2010 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Biography
Ciro Guerra was born in Río de Oro (Cesar, Colombia) in 1981. His first two feature films, THE WANDERING SHADOWS (2004) and THE WIND JOURNEYS (2009) were shown at over 160 international film festivals, including Cannes, Toronto, San Sebastian, Locarno and Tribeca. THE WIND JOURNEYS premiered at Un Certain Regard at Cannes, and both films were chosen as Colombia’s official entries for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. His third feature film, EMBRACE OF THE SERPENT (2015; Berlinale Co-production market 2012) won the Art Cinema Award at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes 2015 and is nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 2016 Academy Awards.

Simon Bolivar was a tool or a proxy of the rising USA. Washington DC used foreign blood (South Americans) while Europeans were off to look for easier targets of exploitation in Africa and Asia, and local South American "iron and blood" was "employed" indirectly to drive a slowly fading European colonial power out of the Americas (geopolitics/grand strategy) by offering a "shield" (Monroe Doctrine, 1823) that revolutionaries in the Americas could operate behind, whilst at the same time doing most of the "bleeding" (aka the "freedom"-argument). Strange thing though, is that nobody has ever bothered to find out what percentage of the population who lived in these regions at the time, actually wanted this "freedom" for themselves. It is simply assumed that most wanted it, 'cos "who can argue against freedom"... After the "freedom" set in after the series of wars left many exhausted, the road to own US economic and political domination into these reformed political systems was paved, in the form of taking away the markets of the European Empire (Spain). Carved up into statelets, each of minor power inferior to the USA, is of course a classical "divide and rule"-strategy... A template Washington DC later expanded on in a much larger scale as it "came for" Europe, and a little bit later (see footnote) the last powerful European empire in the world, the British Empire. A historical observation of "carving up potential opposition into statelets" (Spanish Empire territory, turned into "statelets" like Venezuela and Columbia), each of lesser power than the "divider"... This exact same technique was later used, scaled up sufficiently by Washington DC, to overpower the British Empire after 1945. Footnote: The Father Niemöller logic of "morality", is of course as much a warning to heed a "balance of power", since if once destroyed, there will be nobody left to unite with in order to protect the own interests from an overpowering rival (or the own "best friend/s"). In case you're intersted in the long history of the divide and rule technique, and the "how" and "why" the British Empire failed, then please go to the Kai..ser Wilh_elm II video of the "Hi--story R--oom" educational channel (distorted to avoid the autoblock function of some channels). Divide and rule as a strategy is elaborated in more detail in the comments thread under this video. If you select "latest comments" first (three little bars at the top of every comments section), and read as far back as desired. Most of what we are fed by our systems, as "rote learning" details, are "99% ancillary details": not saying these are untrue or wrong, but simply that they are not as important on the ranking or "tiers" of events as geopolitics and grand strategy. For these geostrategists, divide and rule/conquer is their main strategy, regardless of what you as an individual believes.

Who or what is the security council? Is it European? It has no moral scruples. In that case it has no legalistic authority in non European moral affairs. That alone is good reason to have them outlawed outside of Europe. The liberal Germanic protestestant ungodly entities no longer colonize the world. They are a dead entity. Germanic kings no longer rule the nations. So why are westerners permitting the liberal Germanic culture to have any say in other nations affairs. Apparently the Bible is failed in Europe. Humanism is an atheist entity. Am I the only westerner about to say this. Liberal mentality is a crime. Its atheist. All religious symbols appropriated. These Haters Nazis, lgbqt, socialists need to be charged with theft and corruption of peoples cultural symbols. Or otherwise must must be outlawed worldwide. In reality nazis, lgbqt, Marxism, racism should not exist in christian, Buddhist, Jewish, moslem or African societies because these HATERS are anti-cultural to those societies. These HATERS need to be OUTLAWED WORLDWIDE FOR ETERNITY. THEIR IDEAOLOGIES ARE FOUL, FILTHY, STENCH, EVIL, ABOMINATIONS. IF GERMANIA WANTS TO BATHE IN THEIR MORAL FILTH LEAVE IT IN GERMANY. GET THE FUCK OUT OF EUROPE TOO.

Did you know that the Chilean Congress / Parliament invited the military to take over due to Allende's attack on the government institutions and the implosion of the economy. Funny in 2021 here Peru is about to go socialist.
