Russia offer new R22 Jet engine to lAF's old Mig 21 fighter jets but lndian government rejected this great plan. That's why many lAF pilots died on Mig 21 fighter jets. After kargil war france offer "Mirage" single jet assembly line partner to lndia for building this fighter jets but BJP's Government rejected this project under PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee era time.Thus lndia missed this great opportunity for building Mirage fighter jet. GTRE failed to create kaveri Jet engine for single light Aircraft. Mig 21 fighter jets used in 1965 war and 1999 kargil war. IAF's Mig 21 Jets did great job in Bangladesh lebaration war in 1971. Russian 21 fighter jet's design is far better than Tejas fighter jet's design. Tejas fighter jet design like a child's handmade "Soil made fighter jet". Tejas fighter jet can not make impress to other people for its Bad design. From 1972 to 1986 I worked in two types of MiG a/c in IAF. From 1975 to 1986 in MiG 21 Bision . The main reasons for accidents 1) poor quality Indian made spare parts (by mid seventies Russia stopped production of MiG 21.and concentrated on MiG 27 and MiG 29) 2) The maximum number of accidents occurred during Training Sorties 1)But MiG 21 was a giant killer in '60 s and 70 s Maximum countries had this a/c. Maximum number of a/c produced is this single engined a/c. To counter this, America used two engines for a/c. Thanks for bringing up my old memories I Took discharge from IAF in1986.

Our Indian Airforce is only Airforce in the world, with a diversified inventory of aircrafts, from indigenous to foreign procurements, the logistics, armaments, upgrades, maintenance, as well as training of the both flying and ground personnel, been always a challenge for the Airforce and the successive Governments. Anyway in my humble opinion IAF has performed far better than other commonwealth airforces around, both combat as well as Peace keeping and Relief operations in India and allover the world. Many airforces failed to do so, such as Nigeria, South Africa (post apartheid), etc. Hoping a great future ahead for the IAF . 'Touch the sky with Glory '. Jai Hind !

The Indian govt woke up after the Pak F-16 shot down the flying coffin. Otherwise, they will still be using it. Retire MiG-29 as well. Get the Su-35S or the Su-57. Or are Indians waiting for Pak to first acquire the stealth FC-31? Never do anything proactively instead everything is done reactively.
