Thanks - I think it's because I have a very "amateur" setup and just use my Laptop rather than a specific Mic. Anyways I'll try and speak up a bit in future.

I have some problem with a Touptek IMX585 camera, using focus module, when I use sub frame, and press to select a star, I never see a star in the box, maybe the image is mirrored and so when I press the sub region is selected wrong?
The image might / might not be mirrored but that shouldn't really matter, as all images should be the same. I would make sure the "box" size is as large as possible (from memory that's 256 or 512) then select a frame which will appear in the fitsviewer in the Focus tab. Then click on a star and you should see the box around the star you selected. Then when you run Autofocus it should pick up that star. The mount will need to be tracking whilst Autofocus runs otherwise the star will move off the sensor. If you have a separate guide scope then you can guide whilst Autofocus is running.
@@johneevans1 When I press on a star (perfectly centered in my eyes), the frame that is displayed next, never contains a star. (And I have done many tests) Perhaps from the programmer's point of view, the coordinates passed to “select box” are not oriented the same way the image is displayed? If I press HiPS overlay, the images are mirrored horizontally. So maybe when I press right I actually display the left portion of the image and that's why I don't see the star I selected?

I downloaded the latest KStars and it has the Donut Buster checkbox. But when I check the box, the Default-Donut doesn't show up. The check box remains checked. So I'm not sure what's going on. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, so it might be working. I guess, I'll have to wait and try it out to see if it's actually working. ;o)
Hi, the code is in bleeding-edge at the moment, so hopefully that's what you downloaded. The SEP profile 1-Focus-Default-Donut should now be an option in the SEP dropdown. If you post a screenshot of that options->process popup I should be able to tell whether you have the latest or not.
I wanted to try this as well, but am having the same issues. When will this be available to use - especially on the StellarMate Pro?
@@thornjd1 The guys are packaging the 3.7.0 release now so the official release is imminent. Its been in bleeding-edge (I believe StellarMate can this beta) for a while now.
Hello John, I use a Edge SCT from Celestron and a ASI EAFocuser. In my case the position# decrease with rising temperature. Isn't it surprising? I found high numbers for the slope. Thanks for all these very good videos.
So the tube would expand with rising temperature which I thought would give the focus position further outward (I think, haven't tried it yet on a SCT). So I would have thought that would mean a bigger position. Maybe you have the direction in Indi set the other way?

Is it me or the execution of the FWHM is a lot slower than the HFR?
FWHM will be slower as it's doing more processing. The HFR processing is always run whichever measure you select. Then if you are using FWHM in Autofocus it will fit a surface to each star to get the average FWHM.
Hi John, thank you for these videos! Regarding this one, you can also use the "Manual Filter" instead of the simulator. Also, for the sake of finding the correct steps for temperature/altitude, isn't better to use data points with the same altitude/temperature? For example, if I want to get the temperature, I would take all the temperature points at the same altitude or, for the altitude, all the point at the same temperature? Or the difference is negligible?
Very nice. Love the in depth discussion of all the selections/options, the theory and why or how to think about them or use them. Super helpful. It would be nice to have one of these for every module.
Hi John, maybe you can point me to an answer. I need to reset the step position to zero or a particular value. Btw I use an ASI EAF with 600,000 max steps by firmware update. I Reality I have 253,000 steps. But anyway, how can I set the actual counter to I.e. 250,000 when the focuser has reached his max position? Which of the numerous values in the driver is the right one? Thank you in advance Gunter

Hi Eli, check "verbose" on the dialog first. This should enable the individual checkboxes for components incl Focus, so you should then be able to select them.
Would you be so kind as to make a video showing how to use KStars + Ekos focusing with a DSLR in the field? I have never been able to get it to find an 'in focus' solution. I end up unplugging the focuser and manually focusing my SCT+Nikon and hoping for the best.

I too use a dslr and cannot seem to get focus solution and unfortunately no one else has taken up your idea to leave it to others. You did a demo using a dslr in another video several years ago. Please, please do a dslr focus walk through / demo!

@@user-qp8wk8pk4q Unfortunately I've never used a DSLR so I can't really offer anything here. It looks like the intention in the code (before my time) is to allow DSLRs to be controlled by Focus but as to how to use things I'm afraid I can't help. My only suggestion, other than playing around yourself, would be post on the Indilib forum (its back up after its recent problems) and see if any other DSLR users can help.

This looks to be a fantastic new feature! I’m looking forward to having it available to analyze my sensor alignment. I’ve done about as much as I can with the tools I have but I still have what appears to be a small amount of top/bottom tilt.
