Please get them a better cage. Also that wheel is rusty. Which can cause tetanus. Their whole enclosure is disgusting. If you can't properly care for them, then please don't own pets.
I was surprised how small this cage was. My cage for my 2 degus is 17"x30" and 55" tall.... with 5 levels and over a dozen wooden platforms for them to jump around. They can transverse the entire cage in one second. As nice as it is, I feel it could be bigger. Seeing those degus in that little cage makes me sad for them... no room for them to zip around like they certainly want to.

Need to oil that saucer. Probably better though to get an actual large wheel. These guys are too cute, I want a couple lol. I've always had gerbils, hamsters, rats, and hedgehogs. I've never heard of these before.

Balding at breeding time can be because one degu is trying to mate with the other even if they are both males. I had this happen a couple of times the more dominant one pesters the other one. I found once breeding time is over (late winter to early spring) it normally grows back.

I have a question.. I have a male Degu, (he's turning 3 months in some days so it's really young) I wanted to give him a Brother actually.. but I'm afraid they would fight but I mean make a really bad fight.. so, Is It a good idea to give my baby another one ?
You have one single degu? That's a bad idea from the start since degus mandatorily have to be kept in groups. Socialising degus can be a difficult project, especially when they are at the age of 6 to 18 months. You should ask for professional help asap, if you haven't done it allready.
@@grabak6668 uhm I did, they told me that I need to make a very accurate introduction, unfortunately where I come from they don't have many species (who gave it to me had only one female and I cannot afford to take a female because I cannot economically keep more than two ..) but since I want the quality of life of my degu to be as high as possible, I had and will have to wait for another boy for some time, I was just wondering if this can go.. also my degu's really attached to me soo it scare me bring home another rip, anyways I thank you soso much for your answer I appreciate!! have a good day!
@@nicolejackson9484 Yes, it not impossible but at this age all degu groups are fragile and from one moment to the next it can happen that one degu starts attacking the other and you have to seperate them. So the mentioned accurate introduction and observation is essential and has to be well prepared. To live as loners is not an option for degus so hopefully you will find a buddy for your little fellow, give him an extra cuddle from me, the guy from the internet :)

The most adorable thing I ever saw was a degu pyramid (1 on top of 2 on top of 3) in Pets at Home, they were all asleep. I was enamoured instantly, and I’ve wanted degus ever since.
