Flight Training Tip #1 Good Study Habits!
As i watched the video, i wish every school had a ground school subject/course that would be so good, currently im a sophomore and i dont think id get it for free any time soon 😅
as a student pilot who just got their certificate in the mail. I will be saving this video.
Hi Jay I am going to air repair plane 😮
Yeah the yoke you're using has a really bad deadzone issue, not the best yoke on the market, you get what you pay for i guess lol
Couldn't agree more, you got a yoke you recommend? Probably gonna buy a new one if I keep making these videos.
@@jaycay99 Well i havent really tried the ones I'm about to recommend, but The Honeycomb Alpha might be a good one, and if you want something you might be more used to, the Thrustmaster TCA Yoke might be best.
@@jaycay99in my opinion, thrustnaster TCA yoke is the best in the game.
Good stuff Brodie! As always. What kinda rudder pedals do you have? We should collab
Turtle beach rudder pedals!
R u serious? LITTLE GUSTY" during t.o? There is no wind at all. Such a sad joke.
You're getting worked up over a game. Relax 🤣
Are you ok fella? What’s up?
Cool video man 🔥🔥🔥 I am 14 Year old and want to be a pilot when I am older. How did you become a pilot?
Thank you! I got other videos on the channel that help explain the process :)
@@jaycay99 thanks man 👍
Have you heard of vatsim? You should try it out lol it also would be nice to see how you startup to landing like the real world
Yessir! I use vatsim, I'll probably try it out on the next video🤙🏾
Nice vid 🔥🔥
yeah its just fun. I look forward to it when Im not home. What I do during cruise to entertain myself is....watch CZcams so here we are lol
Completely agree, especially on long flights
Hey Jay, what’s your LinkedIn account?
im starting flight school in 2 months in portugal, they said that i can keep my locs the way i want to, but they couldn’t give me an answer about when i try to enter an airline, this video actually made me more calm about it. much love brother 🤝🏽
Great stuff man! And congrats on starting training!
Hard work and also very very good timing.
Thanks for this! I'm about to start flight school through the AA Cadet Academy & this has been a huge concern for me. This video has given me the confidence to keep my dreads.
Did they make you cut your hair
Nope didn't cut it. I have a video on it too🙏🏾
Did the airlines let you keep your hair
They did!
I know this video is years old, but in Part 135 operations, especially JSX (Jet Suite) that flies jets, they’re still incredibly selective and likely want to see you with your CFI. Think about it, as a CFI you’re flying in a crew environment as PIC which is what any airline wants more than anything else.
where u fly at these days ? fo or captain ?
Great video, from watching a lot of pilots talk about the hiring experience with major airlines you wouldn't think that there is a real pilot shortage.. Everyone speaks as if its pretty hard to get a job at a major airline and highly competitive.. I guess I thought it would be the opposite with a pilot shortage, but maybe not
Hard work pays off!!! You put it in and now look at the Cpt. AWESOME!!!!! Living my dream.
Dude I just started at 23 you are an inspiration!
I love this video so much! Very insightful and useful as I begin my career.
hey quick question. So I have locks and I wonder if Ill have to cut'em. Mine goes just a lil below my shoulders.
I got another video on the channel that talks about the hair :) You should check it out!
Did you go to college beforehand? I want to be a pilot one day but I’m researching the best pathway.
I went to college while I was working at JSX. I did my degree online.
Wayy to go my brother paving the way for ghe dreadheads out here thank u !!! 🙏🏾
I’m a 40 year old queer Black woman with locs and getting ready to start pilot school in the spring. (Afraid of Chicago winters and flying). Locs are clean, professional, and cultural. Anyone saying anything about it is just ignorant.
And they souldnt but no matter your race to some degree appearance is important. Now the bigger question is your fear of Chicago winters. Tackle your fears and make them your strengths! Unless your like me and hate making PAs and delegate them to your copilot. We all have some fears
Do you miss working af.jsx beast 😅
I definitely do!
What is a crash pad if you don’t mind me asking?
Congratulations mate 👏🏼👏🏼 ✈️
One question: you said don't fly at a regional that is connected to an airline you eventually want to work at; does that apply to Republic as well? They fly for all 3 of the majors
You know general speaking it's hard to say, I think airlines such as Republic or Skywest can be hit or miss in those situations. So I'm honestly not too sure.
Hey I enjoy your videos. I was curious of the speeding ticket background question? In my past I’ve had some but in recent years and upcoming years I haven’t had any how prone are they to look into this for airlines and how many years back would they typically check into ? I haven’t started flight school yet but I’m just thinking ahead and hopefully soon to start flight school to work potentially at airlines in upcoming years. Thanks !
You know honestly I don't think they care unless they're criminal speeding tickets. And if it is criminal speeding just be honest on the application. Other than that you will more than likely be good🤙🏾
Wow! Awesome story! I’m inspired ❤
Thank you very much for sharing valuable information. I’m leaving trucking to enroll in my discovery flight school. Peace and blessings ✈️🩵
I've flown American JFK to PHX many many times and its always a good flight. Congrats on the upgrades! =)
Awesome video. Im a new UH60 Blackhawk pilot in the Army. I love flying Hawks and Lakotas but the end goal is the airlines. My journey will be very different from most but you still provided some great info. Looking forward to more of your content.
Wow! This is prime example of the role of luck and how magical the outcome is when it works for your advantage! This is not to dismiss or take away from your hard work, of course. Congrats on your success and on becoming a new member of the highly sought after American Airline community! I wish you all the best.
Are you on LinkedIn?
What’s good with the beard. I’m a brother with a nice full beard. Something that’s been apart of my identity since I’ve been an adult. Really would like for airlines to embrace us having a beard. Of course not a Rick Ross looking beard. But maybe just something nice and shallow.
I feel you man! Sadly they aren't accepting of breads, yet. So I shave mine when I go to work. But I heard stories of guys getting medical waivers. But nothing confirmed.
It’s all about of possibility of an oxygen mask fire. Now why the FAA feels that a mustache is OK and a beard isn’t is another question. If you feel you really have to have it to fly, then fly with an airline outside the US, governed by somebody other than the FAA. Hey I had a copilot who showed up one day to fly that wore an earning and thought his primary job was a rock band but I don’t think he flys in the airlines anymore.
I’m so proud of youuuuuu.
You are c captain. Wow
Keep doing you, Jay! Glad I found your channel. Pre-solo student here, finding inspiration from your content bro!
Welcome to the skies!
I'm 24 and just starting my journey! Thanks for the inspiration bro :)
Keep me posted beotha!
Hey Jaycay can you do a Video about tattoos and which airlines accept what locations of tattoos. Thank you!
Great Idea! I gotchu!
The only pilots deserving tattoos are fighter pilots…especially those that land on aircraft carriers at night. Go Navy!
Too young. Can’t even rent a car until 25. Be safe.
I dont see the issue. He has the experience 🤷♂️
"Sprint and Frontier... you don't see the flight crew. They stay in the cockpit."
I’m amazed at how quickly you went through training, and progressed to a legacy airline. It’s not terribly uncommon these days but it’s still hard for me to wrap my head around. You’re sharp, and articulate, and I’m glad you’re here! A much needed voice to shake things up a little. As little as 10 years ago, you wouldn’t be here to push the envelope. If you didn’t have thousands of hours of PIC, wear the blue suit with red tie, have a military crew cut, and act like you’re in the military, you wouldn’t have stood a chance at getting hired. I’m so happy that things have turned around, in every way: more diversity, better pay, slightly less militant, etc… I still get annoyed by the memos we get before going to training each year, warning us of the dress codes. Keep in mind, training takes place in a compound, deep inside of concrete buildings with no windows, and no public contact. I routinely see flight attendants nowadays who look homeless, with scraggly beards, wrinkled clothing, shorts/tennis shoes… I don’t like some of the changes I see but your dreadlocks are just fine. I never knew dreads could look clean and professional but yours do.
Thank you! I'm glad to see things are changing for the better as well!
Why aren’t locs clean and professional?
Thx u JAYCAY ! U Rock, info must needed!!
I’m still waiting for a job in the airline industry. It’s at all-time low right now. No one is hiring.
It's few air line h southwest airlines is hiring united airlines
Have you looked into having your resume and application reviewed?
How many years did it take you to get to the majors from ATP?
I was hired at my first company Jet job at 19, got to the majors when I was 23. If it wasn't for age restrictions, I possibly could of done it slightly sooner, but not by much.
@@jaycay99 that’s awesome man, super excited for you! I’m 32 looking to make a career change. Being a pilot would be amazing, just trying to get a rough idea on how long it usually takes, I know everyone’s journey is different
Very through and thoughtful video. Great content! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am from the Caribbean and want to go to flight school in the USA how can I get into a flight school there?
Honestly I'd have to look into that! But my best guess would be finding a school that'll provide you with a US student visa.
