    Sir been doing kenpo for long time, and over years I’ve done this technique differently. Did not have pleasure of learning from Mr. Parker but as of now I simply changed the right forearm block into a strike. I strike the arms down, if I should miss an arm my strike continues to groin. I prefer it this way because it’s a much more aggressive way of doing it.

    I learned it slightly different back in '77. I was originally taught that after the take down, instead of stepping up with my right foot on the inside of his leg, simply execute the knife hand with a snapping motion, tracking back up the opponent's leg to stop it from hitting you.

    • @KENPOJOE1
      @KENPOJOE1 Před rokem

      I don't teach it against a left hand punch. I teach it initially against a right hand punch in the rear in a left side forward boxers stance but it is still a right hand punch. Afterwards we teach it against a right step through punch. On a advanced level we teach it against a left hand punch so you learn to do it on the outside of a left as opposed to the inside of a right. But that was not addressed in this video.

    Nice that enhances the back fist strike that I have because that flexibility a little extra flexibility gives you some of that whipping motion and I think that's really important that gives you a little extra snap that snap that whip you know just like my servant tennis that you want to get that good wrist snap because that's what using the clock principal just like kenpo it's snapping of the wrist for instance if you're going to serve a top Spencer if you'd probably go from my let's say 2:00 behind your head to approximately let's say three five or six you just want to go from like let's say on the clock would be 8:00 to 2:00 or 8:00 to 3:00 something like that using the clock principle your head would be 12:00 your feet are 6:00 so if you're going to serve kicker you'd probably throw it behind your head not too far otherwise I'd be an American twist if you're just going to throw a top spin serve you're probably going to go around from 7:00 to 2:00 now from 7:00 when you snap your wrist and then come over the ball at 2:00 that's going to apply that top but not only from coming up the back of the ball but coming over the ball and so they use the legs bending and straightening of the legs which allows you to get that top spin plus the wrist snap at the end maybe shoot too hit that ball from 7:00 to 2:00 if you were not using a wrist snap you would not be capable of doing such a thing is only through the whip like action of the wrist snap on the surface enables you to change clock positions which enables you to hit like a slice or which is 3:00 any top's been served with just maybe 7 to 2 and of course the slicer where maybe you're throwing it out in front of you if it about 3:00 so as you can see as we learn the clock principal just like we learn in capo first thing we learn is the clock principal because they they're going to tell you how to get into stance's positions and using a clock principle that explain to you what those

    @raywest7222 Před 3 lety

    That’s sad because the hook is the most common and one of the most powerful punches you will ever have to face and the fact that the only technique in kenpo that teaches you defend against a hook teaches you defend against a hook thrown in a way that no one will ever throw a hook. If you have any boxing experience at all even just watching boxing you will know that you never step in with a hook punch EVER. I’ve never seen it done neither in my own boxing experience nor on tv. This is a major flaw in our art that must be addressed by someone if our art is going to continue to be a living martial art
