It's amazing how similar yet how polar opposite it is with hitting and pitching mechanics. Both get to that rubber band position, but a pitcher ends it with all the momentum going forward, while the hitter tries to keep their weight back to snap the barrel forward/turn the barrel.
Both have to have to be able to rotate well! Pitcher does have to use their front leg to allow the upper half to snap over a strong fulcrum, kind of like in hitting where they stay back, but yes altogether very different movements!
@@CoachConnerPorter exactly!
Inverted W 😂😂😂
Im still surprised
I remember that day I said I don’t think it’s moving then you recorded this
Jackson has got a lot better
I know why he up thirty he would just get down on him self when he threw a ball then he started to put in that work and start not getting down so much
"Inverted W"....I think that's called an 'M'. LOL, I get it though, inverted W sounds more menacing ;)
It’s what it has always been called! Give it a google!
@@CoachConnerPorter Gotcha, I didn't know if this was something you coined or just an industry standard name for the movement. Still funny though that it's just an 'M' ;)
It's still an M no matter what it's been called
@@smudent2010 it’s worth a google. 😂
love it
Confidence comes from preparation. Prepare well, and then help your kids be confident going into competition. Then we win or we learn!
Thank you! I found this helpful.
Any recommendations on training regimen? Med ball, bands, etc?
Yup exactly. Practice is all about drilling the correct mechanics and responses. Game time is purely to exercise those (hopefully) trained reactions.
Fucking waste of time , different from ur title, click baiter 👎

u look old
Well said man 👊
LETS GET IT!!
I’ve been following since you had 40 subs. I liked them all. This one has me a bit confused. Can you elaborate why are hand is far away from our ear as possible?
The throwing motion rotates around the spine. The further away the hand is from the spine the hand will move faster. It’s basically rotational leverage. Think about a longer lever arm versus a shorter one. The longer one will move faster at the far end with less effort compared to shorter one. I think about swinging a long stick outside in the yard, you can hear it slice through the air when you swing it. But you can pick up a short stick and swing it as hard as you can and never hear it make the whooshing sound through the air. Same principle for creating handspeed.
Well said. If you could add a video or commentary on how to effectively make this happen we would appreciate it. We like all the videos. Info. Format.detail. Etc it’s great keep up the good work.
@@Unoriginal42069 I just dropped this video tonight! Check it out!!
Thanks man, this really helps because I'm just now getting into pitching and rly needed this so thanks again
Good pitch especially on a 0-2/1-2 count for batter to chase out of the zone
This is a good point, but I also think having a pitcher prioritize an arm slot that works for them is important - can’t do a great 12-6 from 3/4 slot. That said, most kids throwing 3/4 aren’t doing it bc it’s their natural slot, just bc they haven’t had instruction
Old school guy here, you touched on it with the breaking ball....12/6. Unfortunately analog clocks aren't the norm anymore but the numbers on a clock was the thought process for spin, depending on throwing hand. 12/6 breaking ball. 11/5(1/7) 10/4(2/8) cutter/slider or screw ball/sinker. 9/3(3/9) circle change or even side arm cutter/screw ball.
I like the thoughts 👍
I have hundreds of videos like this! Drop a sub and start learning!
Finally the first video that i can actually learn from
Thanks this is good
The perfect representation of why starting pitchers cant throw more than 5 innings anymore. Teaching kids to throw and not how to pitch is damaging arms and shortening careers and hurting baseball.
Sedentary lifestyles have created what you’re talking about. I guess we are going to ignore Bob Gibson, Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, Justin Verlander and many others careers? Spotting up and throwing 84 doesn’t cut it. Hitters and pitchers are better than they have ever been. That’s why starters can’t go further than 5 innings during a bad outing because most hitters on every MLB team right now would have been a superstar in every other era likely before 1995.
@CoachConnerPorter I'm not ignoring those guys, if anything I am using them as a prime example of how different bodies are built for different things. Trying to make every pitcher a high velo pitcher can ruin careers of young players who could have been successful without having to throw in the mid to high 90s. There can be a middle ground of manageable velo training without having this mindset of milking every mph possible out of an arm on every throw. It's not sustainable. Does speed help? Yes but you shouldn't force it if that isn't your strength. There are plenty of examples of successful pitchers that didn't have a 98 mph fastball. Great coaches try to maximize each players' individual talents, not try to mold every player into their idea of the ideal player. I'm not saying you aren't a great coach because all I've seen is this one video, I just don't exactly agree with the message this video is putting out there.
@@jameszaimes7407 I would argue that you didn’t watch the entire video, just the first sentence that I said.
@CoachConnerPorter I watched the whole video and I will admit I missed where you did say you have to be built for it, so my mistake. It has been a long day so I didn't catch that. Apologies. If you would like me to delete my criticisms to not draw negative comments toward your post, I have no issue doing that.
Nah that was 1 to 7
Is that Hayden Whitledge?
Yeah
Yeah that is me
Good pitch
That was a great pitch but it wasn't even a strike
Most of the time off speed pitches are used to throw the batters timing off and get swing and misses, not a called strike. If it’s a called strike then that is just a bonus to what the pitch is thrown for
I bet you would have swung at it though!
Bro changeups are not even really meant to hit the strike zone.

Excellent! I've been managing the baseball team I play for since 2019 as a General Manager & player. What I learned from that directly transferred to my IT job. I'm now in charge of my own department.
Love to hear this!!
I feel like the point of the leg lift is to load the back leg. I feel like a lot a baseball movements are taught as movements but sometimes miss the purpose.
You are correct. It’s also acts as a timing mechanism for the upper body to get into good position. There are MLB’ers who have big and small leg lifts but like you said, they load the back hip very well.
Was told opposite and hand should at least come out near the ears. Any studies to support this claim?
Watch slomo video of any mlb pitchers , volleyball hitters and javelin throwers. You tell me if they are releasing the ball near their ear or not. I threw 90+ mph for over 10 years and can still throw 90mph 7 years after my playing career and my release is full extension away from ear. No surgeries or injuries. So there’s a nearly 20 year study for ya.
Last second one handed bunts at the batting cages - like if I have to adjust my batting gloves mid set.
Release point always is ball away from ear though? You can’t finish a throw by your ear, or at least I don’t know anyone who can.
Yes, high velocity pitchers release ball away from ear as you can see in the MLB examples provided. You are correct, releasing by the ear would be very difficult pitch to finish.
@@CoachConnerPorter there’s a limit though, pure sidearming isn’t the best way to generate velocity, it’s more about just letting your shoulder dictate what arm path feels most natural and having your trunk angle do whatever generates most velocity
Actually the shoulder doesn’t dictate arm action. Posture does. look at the pictures and the arm slot relative to the spine. From submarine, to side arm, to over the top they are all very similar.
@@CoachConnerPorter Not really, posture matters a lot but like the difference between a Degrom arm slot to a Verlander arm slot when both of them are straight up and down torso wise. Or like a Josh Hader to a Blake snell when they’re both slightly tilted towards their arms.
@@Katsos44hader and snells torsos are tilted away from their arms exactly in the same torso/arm position as the examples in this video. Google images is a very good resource.
false it puts way to much strain on the arm and will end your career way faster
lol ok, I guess you ignored the pictures of literal hall of famers doing it.
@@CoachConnerPorteryeah and they didnt have as long of careers as they should of, statistics show it puts more strain on the arm
@@ChristianPauley-hq7tohall of famers having short careers? lol what.
@@CoachConnerPorteryou do realize a pitcher in the mlb doesnt throw near as much as highscoolers and below, they may seem like they have a long career but not really if you consider how little they pitch. I wouldnt suggest this form at all
@ChristianPauley-hq7to did you really try to say that Kershaw and Randy haven't had long careers?
I've already forgotten about it before the runner even touches home. Just give me a ball. Let's go! ....it was only a solo shot and we still got the lead anyway! ...at least I didn't walk him 😅

@@jasonglessner1932lol!!!!!
Huge testimony here - so I wrote it out for yalls. 41 yo - didnt play ball for 20+ years. Been playing mens league for last year - tons of arm pain, but taking the mound again anyways - always had a good arm, right now pitching velo around 75 mph ( maybe breaking 80 now, cant wait to get the radar gun going because it might be more) fielding arm faster. My last bullpen (100 pitches - 30 mins including warmup and cool down ) was the fastest Ive ever thrown pitching and my arm has zero pain, and Im on day two of rest and I feel like I can toss again today. Zero pain, zero soreness. I was really leaning back into my leg - leaning back like an old school pitcher, and really falling into my back leg to start delivery. I mean really making the back leg muscles engage and leaning backwards, like tilting to the sky. It feels like my arm angle and release point changed too because of the tilt - but my strike to ball ratio improved dramatically. Do it, dive into that leg.
Good feedback! Great work!
@@CoachConnerPorter wondering if pitchers do cool downs. Sprinters do them and I just started that too. Ive never heard of it for baseball - but I also just started ending my sessions with about 15 very light and short distance tosses.
@@j5555785absolutely! There are recovery exercises that will up-regulate bloodflow through the arm after a workout! I will post a video on this! Be on the lookout!
Thank God noone watches this channel and can read this absolute nonsense. You did not throw a 100 pitch bullpen. You did not do this in a half hour. There is a very small chance some poor kid read this and went and tried the same garbage you just promoted and blew their arm out. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself.
Im ten and throw 56mph
Being an explosive player requires sprints!
Absolutely!!!
I'm going to try this and measure the results with other team mates
Do it!!!!
Good pitch, looks hanging at first then breaks, make sure to try to make it look like a fastball because as a hitter i can pick up a change in motion and recognize that it’s a off speed pitch
We will see you in the MLB someday!!!!!!
