Hi the demo is great thank you, I want to change my time DIY Square watch :) I have a Time Square Watch and I 'tried to compile the source game of life but I have mistakes, yet when I compile the source Adafruit (without game of life), everything is ok. with which version of Arduino you compiled game of life? or is it possible to have the HEX file for upload directly?

I had a 1969 CL 450. It would do 115 m.p.h. on a still day. Was real neat powerfull scooter. Got beat by a 350 Kawasaki tripple though.( after he got the Kaw back on it's front wheel.)

It updates every second: github.com/whoisjake/LifeWatch/blob/master/Life.ino#L70 I found that you can literally run this faster than the LEDs can hit your eyes, basically rendering it too blurry or almost not on... I went with 1 second because it seemed to be the most visually pleasing to me. You can go slower but running faster with such a small count of pixels, makes them to be very short and uninteresting simulations. With only 64 pixels *most* runs of GoL end up being pretty damn boring...

Is this running at the maximum possible speed? If so, I am very amused and disappointed. :)

@marcosmoura911 well, yes and no. You can use the IDE but you still need some hardware to do the actual programming.... but you could use an arduino for that. Just connect the 6 pin ISP headers and for the Uno and the Nano you have to add a 10-33 uF capavitor between earth and reset: as I apparently cant leave a link here look for the wordpress blog: "arduinodiy" and you'll find a description on 28 february or go to tronixstuff blog on wp and check chapter 44

Hey guys, i have simple question, instead of using avrdude, could u also use arduino ide to program it? If you use avr studio to make the code, and lets say work with ADC, can you just upload the library that has that and use the same way its used on arduino ide program?

Having ISP on a board can be quite a hassle, because the ISP header PIN layout almost garantees you that some tracks have to cross over to connect to the µC. If you don't have to reprogram you µC every day, it's not worth the effort of adding an ISP header. Just put the AVR into a socket in your circuit and program it externally. (of course that's not an option if you use the smaller SMD version)

what is the use of ISP if you have a special print to program ur micro controller. ISP is nice so you can actually program while ur controller is in the circuit you made for it.
