This movie was ahead of its time

The damage war does to people's minds...awful. In this film, there's a lot of grim, expressions, and rightly so...😢. But Liebowitz , in a sort of "Bilko" /"Mr. Fixer " type, brings some humour, e.g., the Christmas tree explanation.🎄..plus the Italian P.O.W.' s Christmas song and dance , "Hava Nagila", in Hebrew, naturally.😊 🇬🇧💙🇺🇲🐑🐂🎄🕎🇬🇧

Pro Tip Trivia: Dean Fredericks had an interesting contract in connection with this series. He had the right of first refusal to boink all female guest stars after filming was completed for each episode. In the case of this episode, however, James Arness stepped in and objected to Fredericks boinking Amanda Blake. It got to the point where Arness had to beat the heck out of Dean in order to drive home the point that Amanda was his girl. No worries though, there was still that hot little number who played the role of the Sultan's wife and she was definitely ready, willing and able to fulfill Dean's boinking needs and entitlement per the contract.

❤ WOW JANE. I remember the title from 50 years ago but today is the 1st time seeing this movie. Central Casting is right. FYI, Jane still looks fabulous today. I'm 72. I wonder if she's interested in a younger man?❤🎉😂

Not the first time for Peck and Duvall in a movie. The previous year, '62, was ToKillaMockingbird. Peck's AtticusFinch and Duvall's BooRadley. Duvall didn't have any lines in that one- Excellent movie. Not sure how I missed this one.

This film is a precious save! What a talented performance and presentation from 1959!!! I have seen a lot of film and this one surely deserved an Academy Award or Palme d'or! The quality of performance is excellent! The pacing is spot on and the subject so far out in front it puts Rebel Without a Cause in a shadow. TAKE A GIANT STEP should be in the Centurion Collection!!! But this film reveals Why, it won't be- but Should Be.

My cousin served at O'Reilly. Mickie Wright. She died a few years ago. Wars are still happening alk around the world. Christians are killed for being Christian, Uyghurs for being muslim and AGAIN, the tiny remnant and nation of Israel are tortured and murdered for being born Jewish. Little babies decapitated, terrible tortures and deaths of the very young to the very old. Wars based on lies. The psych hospitals had men who saw repeated evils. And military hospitals have some patients that wish they had not been saved. I'm not sure I want to go back in time for this, but the men deserve to be remembered and honored. We are still bringing them home, although it may be smalk bits from downed aircraft found in the sea. We fulfill our promise to bring them home.

What does "Ars gratia artis" mean (in the MGM logo, with the roaring lion)? Something like "the arse scratches itself"?

Bobby Darren is amazingly good. I don't know if he won an Oscar or not. If yes, then kudos for choosing him. If not, then he certainly deserved it.

I didn't realize it was written by one of my favorite authors...........Leo Rosten....I think I saw this film when I was very young. Great cast. thanks for gifting us with it.

I love Tony Curtis in these old WW II films - he always plays the same guy, but does it so well, you don't care. He's always the scheming chiseler with a heart of gold who pretends to be a slacker.

How boring

I think I started to watch this movie many years ago but didn’t get far into it. I wouldn’t have had the maturity to recognize the absolute masterpiece it truly is. The performances were spectacular and we didn’t understand what our combat veterans went through and still go through. A must see movie for anyone ready to understand the subject of trauma.

Mr Peck one of the greatest actors in the past 2 centuries. Many still think he is from the UK< sorry Mr P was from CALIF. So funny he like Gen Jimmy STewart 2 of the most likeable actors always made time for the people on their team and their fans.

Great movie,hope all the veterans get the help they need. A lot would have been young men in their twenties ,to see so much trauma ,must be terrifying. Feel sorry for all of them,including their commanding officers, they must have felt so much guilt ,when they send men out to fight. They fought for us ,so we can have the freedom we have today. I salute you 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤

I'm a 1st generation U.S. citizen. My father was drafted into The German Army in WWII. He was quite clear on the folly of being a soldier. It's a disastrous downhill path to nowhere, & nowhere good. I thank my lucky stars & the Universe my draft # was 323 in the Vietnam era✌🙏❣

In the first few mionutes we have Darren #2, Inspector Luger, Josephine the Plumber and Robert Simon who was in so many shows of my youth. How can this movie not be great?

As a fan it pains me to say this but I have to be honest - Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is a bad movie. The film is total a mess. It's an overstuffed, poorly paced, confusing, convoluted movie with an unnecessarily complicated plot. There are far too many characters, some of which have been needlessly shoehorned into the story. Many if the characters are also very bland, with very little personality, charisma, likability, humor or chemistry. It's overstuffed with unnecessary dialogue, dull subplots, pointless characters and scenes which go on for far too long. It's not funny either. I didn't laugh once during the movie, and neither did the audience I was watching it with. It's not frightening either. There are no scares in the film. Laughs and scares are two things you expect from a Ghostbusters film, but this latest entry in the series is completely devoid of any. Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan may be talented directors, but they're the wrong people to be writing Ghostbusters films. Afterlife was mediocre at best, but Frozen Empire is just plain bad. With a heavy heart, I rate this film 3 out of 10. I feel a lot of fans are in denial about just how bad this film is.

Read the novel years ago and saw the movie. I had pretty much forgotten it and was so glad to find it listed as available here. Has a whole lot of meaning to me due to experiences during the Vietnam War. Very well written and acted with about the best cast of actors assembled for any production of its type.

Good movie! I enjoyed! Crazy chemistry and amazing soundtrack ❤The Idea of You is so cliche but in the best possible way!! It becomes my comfort movie immediately, Btw his vocals are so good There has been a shortage of good romance movies lately and this is a solid entry.

I watched this because of Paul Mescal and his role in Aftersun. I LOVE, All of Us Strangers! But for what it's worth, I highly recommend y'all watch Aftersun too :) SO good!
