    Nice video, really good review. I'm from Adelaide and flying out to Scotland next month. Im looking to do this exact route on he way home to experience the A380 first class. It looks like theres quite a few spots available to book even less than a month out. Just hoping one will open up on the date I need!

    Going to be booking a rewards seat for August (Sydney or M 1:21 elbourne to LAX) and trying to decide between QF on the A380 or AA B777. I've heard that service on the A380 can be pretty rare. However, I am intrigued by the idea of possibly being able to snag a first-class seat at the last minute (with the understanding that the product will still be Business Class, just in a 1st Class seat). I'm just not sure I want to fly AA.

    Which Singapore business class is your favourite in order from a380, A350 long haul, A350 Regional and the 777. And are the seats all comfy?

      @pointyend-secrets Před 5 dny

      I actually havent flown their A380 but from what I see it is basically the same as the 777. In terms of preference Id say - the 777 is the best as it (somehow) feels even larger with the physically wider plane (include the A380 in this I suppose.) - A350 Long Haul - A350/787 Regional (I actually love this on a daytime flight, its shocking to sleep in overnight though, a video on that is coming soon!)

    Really great video and as always super informative mate. I've also used QANTAS wine as a huge point earner for a while now, and agree it's an easy way to get those extra points. Especially with a linked credit card. Not to mention enjoying some great wine. So now I've got the points, just need to convert to travel. Your tips are a great help. Might even take you up on the email reach out down the track if I have issues with securing those somewhat elusive business reward seats. Thanks again Cal, cheers!

    Great review. Looking to book this same flight in July to try out Qatar F, but having second thoughts due to the reduced menu / service and overnight nature. Would you fly this again or wait for another flight to fly during the day and have a full menu? If you had to choose between this v Emirates A380?

    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets Před 17 dny

      This seat is pretty great but the timing of it makes it a bit awkward, the food service is great but its more on par with their Business offering as they are putting more emphasis on making that great. The Qatar seat & bed I actually prefer to Emirates, but the privacy is impacted by this so if the flight is full its definitely not as nice! Id say if the times work better, Emirates is the go.

    • @jcostello4909
      @jcostello4909 Před 17 dny

      @@pointyend-secrets Thanks for the response. Yeah the 2am start having a reduced menu offerings is a big negative. Emirates still offer the same food offerings whether flying at 3am or 3pm. Almost impossible to get redemptions to London with Qatar via Velocity points so its either this or the Bangkok/Sydney flight which both have the same issues. Have done F in Emirates A380 and 777 Gamechanger, BA 787 and Singapore A380 Suites, so looking to eventually try this before Qatar retire the plane.

    Thanks a lot for the video!! However, does it seem like the business class lounge a bit fetter than the first class lounge? Or is it just me 😅? What was so special about the first class lounge?

    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets Před 24 dny

      It definitely doesn't have the 'wow factor' that the old First class lounge had with its gym and extra facilities, but id say the a la carte menu, "whatever youd like" drinks menu make up for that, but its biggest advantage is the privacy and how quiet it seems to be, I've been through twice now at peak times and its been nearly empty, which is a change from the business lounge. Id say its not so much that the First Lounge is bad, but the standard of the business lounge is so high!

      Thank you! This was a Business Reward seat booked through Velocity with Velocity points, we booked this around 6 months out from the flight date. I would recommend against trying to book economy and upgrading, as it is only possible with that airlines own points (Singapore can only be upgraded with krisflyer miles, not Velocity for example) and it doesn't guarantee you anything. If you check out my most recent "how to use velocity points" video and skip to the redeeming part, that explains how you can use velocity points to book business seats on partner airlines like Singapore, United and Qatar using Velocity points. If there is anything in particular you need help with, let me know!

    Bro you have earned me as your top fan. Story is, I paid 10k for business class 2 adults and 1 kid business class mel - sin - pvg return this arvo with Singapore airline. Now before that last night I redeemed Cathy pacific business reward from mel to pvg but quickly realised that Cathy has no reward seat back so I cancelled Cathy within 24 hours and since I have the Amex platinum I scored a 10k deal with Singapore which is usually 13k retail. It was my first cash purchase of business class and people tells me that it was good value already so I’m quite happy. My mom in law said she wanna join us one way from pvg to mel and I wanna treat her but she also said her plan might change so if there was no flexibility she won’t fly. Guess what when I was just watching your flight review I quickly got excited. This video is gold to me as it ticked all the boxes for me. I randomly searched our return flight hoping to see a reward business seat and there it is! I quickly linked and transferred some Amex point to velocity and got through in five minutes and secure the seat. Result is this, 92k velocity plus 320 tax. The retail price for one way is 3500 Aud so it’s about 4 cpp. Now even if I use a 1700 Aud face value of the ticket as it was on par with my cash price for my own business return it’s still 2cpp. I cannot thank you enough mate. I’ve been watching quite some CZcamsrs out there but your non-crap to the point style is what I love. Thank you so much mate and I hope your channel keeps growing.

As the spelling from CZcams auto generated subtitles is incorrect for a lot of standard (U.S.) English words ie. Colour Metres Catalogue etc... I can understand you fine. Keep up the good work. Also, I put in a bid for an upgrade from cattle class to business from Mel to Ade that was only $5 over what Qantas was offering. I got it and was not expecting it as the flight was full and it was the first time I had travelled with Qantas for over 6+ years, I also had zero FF status credits and a less than 5000 Qantas Points. Was I just lucky or did they legitimately have nobody above me with a higher status on that flight?

    Great guide - sounds like an exciting alternative to expertflyer. Does Gyoza search outside VA and QF routing ie reward seats on their partner airlines?

    Completely disagree. I fly, monthly from and to HK and when I fly up, because it is during the day, I fly economy. When I fly back, for my HK - Mel or Sydney leg ( I live in Adelaide so connect through either city) I bid for upgrades and almost always get a business class seat which is flat bed and the J product on Qantas which in my view is the best in the sky. I note he said nothing about the crew which is the MAIN reason I fly Qantas - they were fantastic during Covid and before and after, and will always be the best. A testament to this: so many were laid off during Covid, started other businesses or accepted non-airline jobs, but then returned after the worst was over. Experience matters. I stress I am not paid one cent to say this.

      While I agree that the actual seat itself is great and it is also one of my favourites, the rest of the suite with its lack of privacy and dated screen sets it far below the competitors. When you combine this with the well below average service I've had on every one of my QF Business flights and the the bare-bones meals, its hard to understand how they can charge the same money as airlines like Singapore or Cathay on these Australasian routes. I do have an A380 business flight booked home from the US in October and I'm really hoping this is somewhat of a redemption flight for them!

    Probably more of a gripe with Qantas more than anything, but I can't tell you how many times sites like gyozaflights or seats.aero shows there's availability and the Qantas website also shows availability, only for the site to fall over when you try to book the seats because the seats are not actually available

    Looks pretty good. I think I prefer seats.aero for the abililty to search from / to all major EU / AUS / US airports rather than just to a single desination.

    I have shared Callum so I hope you don't mind. I met this site a few months ago but unfortunately the cities I was looking for weren't available. I was checking for melb to algiers for September first or business. The city algiers wasn't an option. Anyway, may need to revisit it. Thanks for posting. ❤ your wotk

    This looks great. How would you come with seats.aero or pointsyeah?

    • @pointyend-secrets
      @pointyend-secrets Před měsícem

      Seats Aero is great, but I find it a bit harder to use with all the other programs options! As an Australian, supporting an Australian company that shows me basically just the two Programs we have locally here, its much nicer to use! If i am searching for seats on particular airlines with their own points system, then ill use Seats!

    We did the exact same thing! vacate the SQ lounge for the ANZ lounge, we were the only 4 visitors and the lovely Staff member gave us our own personal boarding notice.

      It is a far nicer lounge and something that a lot of people have taken my advice on and been wrapped with the results!
