  • @Turbski1
    @Turbski1 Před rokem

    Now that i think about it, if you use a call like a whistle to get them back into the loft with food how would you do that if your not home?? Or is that only in the beginning when loft flying? So really need to train on the trap more than the actual call im guessing. Unless the truck sends ur bird off to a race and i guess you might be home though since it will be next day since your not the one actually tossing the birds in a race yourself. Hmm

    • @thewrongsideof40
      @thewrongsideof40 Před rokem

      You are correct that it is most important to teach them to trap into the loft. If I toss them myself I can rarely make it home before them so they usually just trap into the loft before I arrive. For a couple that lag behind I would use the call. On race days I am home and waiting for them to arrive so it is pretty straight forward. The idea really is to teach them that there is food in the loft and, when outside the loft, their objective is to get back inside. After a long flight they usually go right in, eat and drink a little then rest. These birds are incredibly intelligent and learn very quickly, usually only takes them 1 or 2 tries before they figure something out.
