Dr. Bellamy, I do not play the bassoon. BUT! You make this audition instruction tape simply marvelous. I wish I had an instructor like you when I tried to learn a musical instrument. Oh well, that was in the 60s when I was dating a very well-known folk singer. I couldn't finger the guitar, but I could pay for dinner. First choices!

Thank you for the video! The sheet music that I was given says to stop at measure 21, which one is accurate? Is the end of the audition at measure 21 or 32?

Why is this in Bb min instead of the standard baritone C? Would be well within this young man's range from the sound of it, the lowered key makes the climactic parts sound less climactic.

Hi Caleb, beautiful etude, reminds me of the Theo Charlier my teacher used to have me play. I have a question for you. After many years off, I began to play again and much to my dismay, I find my middle C is a B. In other words, I'm a half tone flat on my horn. My guess is I'm just not supporting my tone/pitch enough and need to keep working at it. Any thoughts?
