Dutchman Explanation - Felling
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 14 dny
Dutchman explained. (For Professional Purposes Only) in the first part I explain how a dutchman works, and what it achieves. in the second clip I show it in action. Note that the tree I showed during the fall was smaller, but the technique usage is the same. Also realize these are softwood, this will differ or not work at all depending on the tree species. #mitchzenobitrees #treework #treeservi...

Hey Mitch, just curious what you run for a chain length in drivers? I want to give this bar a try in .325 and it calls for 98 drive links and other bars I already have call for 104. Is there a happy medium to run a certain length chain on both bars? Thanks alot
So with this bar, 98 is going to be it's number to run on both Stihl and Husqvarna saws. Unfortunately you can't run a universal length to have one set of chains for all the bars. Mt Tsumura conversion is 104 and if I tried to go shorter it wouldn't fit.
@@mitchzenobitrees I appreciate the reply, Thank you
Perfect!
Damn that Milwaukee actually shreds
I want this for my Stihl 261. It would be perfect. I stay with .325 , it’s a thin chain, thin bar. Would give a few more inches on my 20” factory bar.
500 BACK….
Pretty work!
Sick shot
Chain type and its sharpness makes a big difference too does t it?
What kind of chain and how was it sharpened? It really throws the chips.
Full comp 3/8 .050 square ground chain.
I it better fair comparison had you let the steel warm up to operating temperature?
I did warm it up before I shot the video.
@mitch zenobi trees I found a guy in Tacoma that can get them in a week.325 or 3/8 lp i just got a 20” for my 550mk 2 and a 28” for my 572. I’m just struggling on which rim sprocket to get for the 572 The guy in Tacoma orders direct from cannon took my two 7 days to get to the guy in Tacoma
The guy doesn’t up charge for them either he sold em to me cheaper than any dealer I could find online
Hell yeah!
Make sure that your “shorts” are at least 50sec long so that “we” are able to keep up with the progress with the progress of them. That would be awesome.
I know you mentioned cutting upward with the tip to avoid kickback, would it be possible to saw downwards with the spot right behind the tip and then move the tip into the wood to avoid kickback? (I hope that makes sense, idk the anatomy of a saw to specify what I mean)
Hey Mitch, just to clarify, you're cutting the dutchman in when you make your first face cut? You're drifting your bar through the wood at that point, rather than cutting the dutchman as you begin your backcut? Hope that makes sense, great vid!
Also to follow up, would this be for when a tree is leaning heavily enough that the tree won't go in the direction of your face cut? For example in this clip, what would've happened if you had just aimed your face cut more towards where you wanted the tree to eventually end up instead of using a dutchman? I'm trying to learn why to use X vs Y in each situation. Thanks again!
Haven't seen anyone stealing your content yet (I'm not trying hard enough, apparently). But I've seen a lot of stuff stolen from Jacob and Timber Falling Couple. And then they comment as if they are the people making the content. Infuriating. Get' em!
Look up Boris Boros here on CZcams. He's got a few of my videos, plus a bunch of other big name pages content.
That sux !
Lame sauce
something I have done from the get go is make sure my watermark is always visible. One recently I reported got taken down and within minutes, they posted it again. Crazy stuff. Keep up the good work!
Yep and like you say making money off your content! Very messed up!
sucks
F'd up world we live in these days
Dang Mitch. Stolen tree cutting valor.
🤬🤬🤬🤬
Wow I can't believe this POS Boris Boros even dubs in the sound chainsaw running in the stolen vids to cover up the voice of the original creator - what a scumbag 👎👎
I totally agree with you Mitch thieves and I will let you know Mitch can't let them screw us hard working bushman tree fallers
Thanks mam! 💪🏻🔥
@@mitchzenobitrees how dear they steal yours and Tree falling couples videos saying that it's theirs you can get your videos copy right an I don't like people who do that to good hardworking people
make a longer vid on this topic......and using basic technique? thanks
Love the footage !
They on the ground now!
Hey are you running .325 chains on your saws I caught a little of that video? I love your videos I wanna try that if that’s what your doing
Thanks! Yes I'm running .325 on all of my saws, even the 661. Haven't had any chains snap or malfunction.
@@mitchzenobitrees that’s awesome I’m gonna switch my saws over thank you ! Stay safe !
I can smell the fresh cut wood mixed with chain oil
I’ve just ordered this I’ve 2 Stihl 131 pole saws your the first guy I’ve seen swapping out for a bigger bar my question is with my Stihls I did use to put the hedge trimmer head on them for those massive statement hedges I do can Milwaukee pole saw take a Milwaukee hedge trimmer head on their new pole saw I know manufactures don’t tell you this and wouldn’t approve but anybody know if it works as if so I be ordering the trimmer head for it asap if it works
Love the husky
Nice video Mitch. Thanks!
462 usually kicks 400 A$$... czcams.com/video/wAcCje6R2Hc/video.html
Your guy said he doesn't mess with 460 ranchers...
I don't think that's a pro saw. A lot of guys won't build homeowner saws.
Solid music
Great camera work.
Once you’ve learned how to use this method it’s a good tool to use great video Mitch!
Definitely one of the better videos on the web of this dark magic.
Always been curious as to those woolly gloves you guys wear in the states , is there a specific reason behind them ?
They're cotton made by Kinco. They prevent blisters.
Mitch, why have you been running short bars? Seems like you have to spend a lot of time shaving bark and staying close during the buck, all just for a pound or so? I’m just curious
I'll shave the bark on bigger trees even if my bar is long enough. If the bark is gone it's easier to get the wedge directly into wood, and on the sides you can see where your corner is. I especially do it to mossy trees so when my power head is close, it won't catch on fire.
Short bar does mean less chain to grind. I always find myself thinking about that when I'm grinding 105s and 115s
@@mitchzenobitrees yeah I totally get that, I was just wondering if it’s really worth having to double cut the surprise toad in your strip haha. Grinding chain sucks though!
