Where do you get a chinese knock off sensor that has the threads precoated? All the cheap Chinese ones I see have no coating. What type of cheap Chinese thread coating do you use if the threads are not precoated? I'm making my made in Japan Honda into a made in China Honda.
Be careful!. The aluminum block will easily crack where the pressure sensor screws in. Then you are screwed.
I have the P1259 code popping on my 03 CRV. Love the thing, good reliable and fun to drive. I replaced the solenoid, wirings solid. Still had the issue. Finally checked a forum and they suggested the oil pressure switch so Im going to replace that now and hopefully resolve this issue. Mechanics shop I took it into said Id have to rebuild the engine. With minimal mechanical experience and CZcams I will hooefully have fixed it for under the suggested $3000 fix.
Thank youuuuuuuu! You are confirmation to what my friend has been saying could be the cause of my oil leak!!!!!!
10 minutes...! Good video. Thanks.
Does a bad one cause performance issues?
a load of crap doesn't work
Just went thru exactly thing. Replaced the VVT solenoid gasket. Thought it stopped. Nope.
Does the car remember this setting or do you have to do it every time you start the car?
Did you have to remove the vtec solenoid to get to the switch itself?
No go through the passenger wheel well ,
If that oil switch gets faulty or leaks, will it trigger hard starting? Thanks.
Why would you take focus wheel off? Oh there not supposed to come off.
Bro, less talking more doing... you spoke like 10 mins and didn't do anything
Thanks for the helpful video. I need to replace the sensor on my 02 CRV. I tried removing the wire but it didn't want to come off. I didn't want to pull too hard. Should it pull off with a little bit of force, or do I need to do something else? I am guessing the wire just snaps back on to the new switch. Thanks! - Rick
Bro how do u take this thing off and where to buy
I cleaned oil for 2 hrs everywhere around the passenger side top to bottom until I found fresh oil around the oil pressure switch 😅. Thanks for letting us know not to over tighten! I was about to just tighten the old one to see if it stopped it but now I know.
My 2003 started running erratic. I took to the mechanic shop. He told me that it was low on oil and causing a protection sensor preventing me from injuring the engine by trying stop the engine. What's your thoughts? Do you know of this sensor and its location? My vehicle won't run now.
I have never heard of the sensor you are speaking of. Is the engine light on? If its not I would use a scanner anyways and see if any codes pop up.
If it doesn’t let you go past a certain amount of rpm and enters (limp mode) it sounds like you have to clean the filter inside your vtec solenoid and do a fresh oil change should fix your issue!
Its prob the vtec switch on back of head, next to headers, right above the sending unit. screen inside fails. Id replace both
I just changed the one on granddaughter's '03, but from the oil on the pulleys, alternator, and around PS pump, I'm going to change the VTC Filter Assembly on the front. The downside is you have to remove the PS pump, the tensioner pulley and mount just to get to the cover and gasket. Well, nothing ventured,...! Tired of having oil spots on the driveway, and her constantly checking and topping off her oil. Wish me luck! Update: Well, I did it. It was generally straight forward, but a few things were annoying. 1. In a CR-V, there is nowhere to put the PS reservoir so that it's out of the way. And in the way it was, all day. 2. Who is the genius who decided to use a nut on the back of the tensioner pulley? All the other bolts have threaded holes in the mount. After three times of trying to secure that nut long enough to thread the bolt in, I finally had to stick a fingertip against the nut while trying to put the pulley on and then start the bolt with the other hand. And speaking of bolts, 3. I sure could have used another joint on my arms, about 3 inches up my forearm, to help get my hands into those tight spots. 4. Next time, I'll buy a power ratchet before I try this again. Overall, it was a good thing I changed the Filter Assembly. That little rectangular gasket was flattened and literally shredded. I'm convinced that's from where all my oil was leaking.
It is tight in and around the power steering area. Just changing the serpentine belt is a headache. Hope you got it fixed!
@@ThatDIYguy403 I did! And guess what? Two days later, the alternator fried. Guess what I had to do all over again!!!
@@jimtownsend7899 oh no! It's usually easier the second time. But who wants to test that theory? 😂
Great visual on your work with the camera angle and lighting.
That was funny Matt! 😢
Changed oil pressure sensor didn't help with oil leak?
👍 🙋♂️
Did this fix the oil leak?
Yes it did. I would also check the front engine oil seal. Behind the harmonic balancer. I am going to do a video on it as I am getting another oil leak on my car. I just changed one on a friends car - same year as mine. I reccomend a 5' snipe with a 3/4 breaker bar. The pulley bolt is on super tight. I broke my favorite 1/2" breaker bar and an extension trying to remove it.
@@ThatDIYguy403 I'm still chasing an oil leak on that area. I replaced the balancer seal, vtec gasket and the oil presure sensor - FYI - the easiest way to remove the balancer bolt is with an impact and a heavy 19mm harmonic balancer socket, it's worth the money, the bolt comes out in seconds!
How to open and clean?
Not necessary
Thanks I have same Honda. Same problem.
Helpful! Did you buy a aftermarket part or Honda OEM?
That was an aftermarket part
Does it triggered the oil light in the dashboard? I have a leak too, already replaced the vtec solenoid just few months ago. I got a leak and an oil light in the dashboard.
I did not have an oil light on my dash. A faulty oil pressure switch could cause the light to come on or also low oil level.
yo if it ate the rpbc, it prolly dead af damn...
Nah, I don't think so. 🐿 Hope not 🤣
