In this new episode of 'Next In Line', you're taken on a special journey, watching a man who trained on the streets of Ibadan, Oyo State, to boxing for one of the most iconic boxing gyms in Repton ABC, East London.
Adegbola is a protege of Anthony Joshua who has guided him through his amateur career thus far, and sponsored him to compete in the olympic qualifiers in Cameroon.
Leo Antell and Guy Nitzani encapsulate the immensely strong bond between Deji and his coaches: Andrew Paul & Mehmet Hamuza, who have played a huge role in developing his boxing skills. They uncover the bigger picture, showing how much Andrew and Mehmet have done outside the ring as well as in it, mentoring him to become a strong-willed, resilient person.

And the Nigerian government and politicians watch these videos where it’s mentioned that athletes sponsor themselves to competitions to represent the country and it doesn’t even bother them as they steal the Nation’s fortunes and drive cars worth millions in dollars. Woops, how some folks have zero conscience. Lord help us.

Great fight.
@@lowblowleo Yup !
I think any coaching where you expect someone to just figure out that they must fight back is bogus coaching and can't make a champion. Sparring needs preparation and drills, not heart, heart is useless to winning.
Boxing is mostly mental, not physical. When it comes down to it, you need heart. Technique, sparring, drills etc are a big part but if you’re not there mentally, it doesn’t matter 👊
@@lowblowleo I've seen too much of guys with heart who get beat all the time, non stop, heart is everywhere, even in the street, it just gets you killed. Winning is who different game, it's about mind and drills.
@@eastafrika728Fair point but also realise where Leo is coming from. You definitely need schooling and tactics and the short documentary clearly shows that he had to learn smiths basics all over again when he arrived in England. Boxing is mostly mental as Leo said though so no matter what tactics and game plans you develop you need to be in the right mental state to deliver it. Perfect example is AJ, who I’m proud to call myself the biggest fan of. AJ was not in the right mental state for the 2nd Usyk fight which is why he calls it his worst loss when asked the question. He was physically ready and the game plan was ok but he was going through an internal battle of “who and what am I” which is a bigger battle than any you can face in the ring. This is why I am happy people are now underestimating AJ because I can tell that over the last 9 to 10 months he has been in a great mental space which is perfect for the final phase of his career. He will have contentment and confidence in himself while also being able to fuel himself up with the naysayers words on the way to proving himself right and them wrong in the process. AJ to be 3 time world champion and I hope DJ achieves all his dreams too as he has earned a fan in me!
Beautiful… AJ thanks for this champ
Thank u 🤝
Michael is coming for you bro! Be ready
Who’s that?
@@lowblowleo I’ll make a video on that, he’s a Nigerian who has the exact proportions of DJ.

Hahaha. Let’s go Ibadan!! 🇳🇬🇳🇬
One thing about my city is the abundance of Boxing talents 🥊 Ibadan the city of warriors right there 👊🏼🥊🥊🔥💯❤️💥!! ❤️🔥💯💯
👑🇳🇬
I always tell people, if you want to see boxers with raw talent, go to Ibadan. They are in abundance. Those guys are warriors. I don't know if it's their forefather's blood or the fact that the city were founded by warriors. Those guys are good.
@@okunlolaeddie8136 The first Nigerian boxer who won Olympic medal 🏅 came from Ibadan . 👆👌💯
Ibadan is a city of warrior oyo empire is one of the greatest empire in Africa before the colonia era, we have so many story of ancient warrior, that reflect in our dna both positive and negatively.
