The last one is a nice story and all, but people don't say the year when they give dates. If you were on a cruise and someone at a port asked when you left, you wouldn't say November 5th, 2023. The guys who came up with the ghost ship story were sloppy.

Katherine Snow couldn’t marry a cousin. They wee cousins. She was Catherine Mandeville from Ireland, a Catholic. I did look at transcripts she didn’t kill her husband. Her cousin Thomas ? , he did the book keeping for John Snow, Catherine’s husband.

Before I moved here from New Brunswick, I came to visit my sister in St John’s. She was working but had taken time off because I was there, I told her we should “play tourists” and visit the most common tourist places. The Cathedral of St John the Baptist was in the tourist guide I had. So we went there one day as on Wednesday’s at lunchtime, they had somebody who would come in and play the huge old organ for an hour, I guess an organ recital. Then afterwards you could mill around the cathedral look at their museum archives- there is a dead mouse ir rat as part of the archives, until the next of the Wednesday activities took place “Tea in the Crypt”, now you have to pay for this tea and this was so long ago, I don’t know the cost. The organ recital was donated what you want. Yea was different as there was a food and cost of coffee tea etc. little sandwiches, tea biscuits, jams and cream, sweets, squares and cookies etc. Now the strange thing about that whole day is when I got my roll of film developed (no photos on the telephone back in those days)..my photos came back from inside the cathedral with circles, like that fellow Peter in that Masonic Temple described like bubbles, circles that came back in the wedding photographs. I thought someone did or something was wrong with the equipment at the development of the photos. Had them developed again at another place. Still the circles, you can see through the circles to some extent. But same as prior development. I went home then and jokingly called them my ghost photos but now I’m wondering.

I Lived in 92 Queens road for 2 years with a good friend of mine, we had two wild cats and chalked up any debauchery we heard at night two the both of them. One night I Partook upon the Marijuana on my deck which was off my room. I was sitting on the balcony when 20+ ppl and the guy who leads the haunted hike showed up in the parking lot next to my place telling how my apartment was an illegal abortion clinic women used because back in the day it was shunned or straight up illegal. Then all the random noises I heard, a baby crying which I just thought was my upstairs neighbour made sense. I Sit and wonder sometimes JUST how much of the noises was the cats effin around. I Like to think being a nurse now with a strong belief in womens reproduction rights that the ghosts haunting there were strong women who were doing a service to help women knew myself and my roomie were good folk. I Love being a Newfoundlander! our history is quite interesting.

When I was locked up in the 'dungeons' (basically, it's in the basement of the Supreme Courthouse and it's called The St. John's Lockup) of the Supreme Court in St. John's, NL I was about to go to sleep in the "lock-up" (that's where they house people arrested until they can be dealt with in court) on the women's side, I was telling the other girls there (about 3 other girls were housed with me) about my bestfriend who had been murdered in jail out around the bay in the woman's jail in Clarenville, NL a few months ago (R.I.P) in which we were all sentenced to go there in the morning and I was disgusted with the jailors and I was going to flip the place on it's head when I got there.. Anyways, we all said goodnight to each other and all of a sudden about 10 seconds of us all being quiet something said plain as day "Steph?". As soon as that happened the girls to the right freaked out and said "Did you just hear that Steph? Who said that?" and I heard it too but I didn't bring it up right away cause I didn't know if I was just goin nuts or something lol... But the cell to the right of me was vacant, and it came from THAT CELL. Once someone asked (and confirmed) if I had heard someone calling my name I knew I had heard my friend calling to me. It was so freaky, because it was real. It wasn't a joke, and no one felt right the entire night, the air was heavy and hot, and the lights had ended up going out and the guards (who don't give a shit about you at all) never replaced them and just relied on the emergency flood lights, but that made out cells pitch black. I could, and the other girls, hear whispers all night.. but nothing as clear as "Steph?"... I cried my eyes out. I still don't know if it was my friend, or if it was something pretending to be her. I know it was her voice, but other than that I've never had an experience that so many other people had heard the same thing as I did... So creepy.

Ah, Canadian Ghost Stories! They are even better than American Ghost Stories!!! And, I am a proud American!

My home is so haunted 😅💜 I remember seeing something strange when I was at the Anglican cathedral.. I was really little and I can barely remember it. All I know is seeing something down a narrow corridor scared the life out of me.

I enjoyed this. I really am not at all familiar with history of Newfoundland but it sounds interesting.

I heard about ghost ships a lot throughout the years and I have always figured it's just tales for teaching a lesson or to entertain the people of yesteryear. I do in fact believe in much of the paranormal and things of high strangeness or unanswered mysteries. I think I have a hard time putting sea tales into context is because I have never lived near the ocean or been out to sea before.
