Epic Gila Overland trip, day 3, Aeroplane Mesa to Mogollon
Day 3 was our last day of the trip and it took us from Aeroplane Mesa, across the Whitewater Baldy Complex burn scare from 2012 to the ghost town of Mogollon. The road takes you from Snow Lake to Willow Creek then on to Sandy Point and Silver Creek Divide before dropping in to Mogollon. #Overland #overlandnewmexico #overlanding #overlanders #djiaction4

We took a 3 day 2 night trip across the Gile NF. Day 1 is up Chloride Creek, FR226 to camp at the cave on 74 Draw Road. It’s a long video but it’s hard to cut up 5 hours of driving into less. #overlandnewmexico #overlanding #overland #overlander #newmexico #djiaction4
Overland in the Jemez Mountains FR266 & 137
zhlédnutí 225Před měsícem
We went way back in the Jemez Mountains to a place where obsidian was supposed to be pretty abundant, and it was. Nice drive, nothing technical. Seen a small herd of deer and a herd of wild horses. Just realized I put the wrong FR#. It’s 137 not 131. Thanks for watching! #overlanding #overlandnewmexico #overland #overlander #overlandtravel #rockhounding #obsidian #newmexico

This weekend we decided we would go up north to Abiquiu to explore some place we had not been to before. It’s a beautiful area up there with the multi colored sandstone cliffs. #overlandnewmexico #overlanding #overland #overlandtravel

We found an old abandoned mine in the Magdalena Mountains. #overlanding
zhlédnutí 90Před 2 měsíci
We went back to the Magdalena Mountains in search of this old mine I found on google earth. It was a pretty cool find. Unfortunately I found out when I got home that the stabilization was off on my DJI Action camera so it is unusable. Luckily I had some drone video. Just means that I’ll have to go back. #overlanding #djiair3 #overlander #overland #overlandnewmexico

Dont worry about it being long great stuff thank you ❤
enjoyed. good . =))
Thank you glad you enjoyed it
Great video and recon of the area...thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it
Was this 2024? Great vid!
Yes, Memorial Day weekend. Thank you
Wait, no no no more of that campsite!! AAAAGGHH lol
Monument park? It’s still there. It’s just the cabin is gone.
Looks a lot smoother than the last time I was on it. Good video.
Yeah it’s a lot better now again. Thank you
I understand the road maintenance has made the drive relatively straightforward again. Do you think an offgrid trailer would be OK?
Yes it’s a pretty good road again
Gorgeous. Looks to be some great camp spots!
They are lots of great spots.
Are there decent spots for dispersed camping off those roads?
So I was just looking on the MVUM and there’s no dispersed camping on either of these roads I guess.
Nice drive. Northern Jemez mts. August/September I’m guessing? 👍
Thanks, No it was last Saturday
Cool. I’m familiar with 144 coming in from nm-4. 👍✌️
@@GenXvanlife69 yeah 144 is nice. This is north of Abiquiu lake though.
Ugh. Missed it. I didn't know about it. 5 minutes from my house.
Finally got to drive this canyon with Team NM on Saturday. Thanks for showing us the way. Really enjoyed the canyon. It is very impressive.
It’s pretty cool
What a cool place! Had to look it up on Google Earth..
I last did that road back in 2018 in a stock F250 4x4 with open diffs - no problems! Lots of changes apparent in this video, looks like waaaay more fun now! We had camped across from the old cabin before the fire, sad to see it's just a foundation and chimney now.
Yup used to be way easier. We always camp there.
Man what a nice video. The music really sends it!
Much appreciated!
Love it!
Thanks!!
safe travels thx for the video
Thank you! 👍🏼
@@overland505 some people just take the nice right out of you. Worst video ever seen.. WOW who are these assholes
This was a potentially good video.. but it turned out to be a waste of time ... and made me dizzy ... Probably one of the worst I've seen.
Sorry for the dizziness! Maybe I should add a "motion sickness warning" next time. Bummer that it wasn't your cup of tea. Appreciate you taking the time to watch though!
Wow. Thanks for the historical info. It makes this area seem more alive instead of just scenery. My wife has relatives in Switzerland.
I'm glad you enjoyed the historical info! It's always fascinating to learn more about the places we visit.
Impressive scenery. Still lovin' the music. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
WOW! great drone work, beautiful scenery, fantastic music. It don't get better than that.
Thanks
New Sub here. Cool to see your video of the area. I camped off Taylor Peak Rd (226) and rode Chloride Canyon (W to E) on a SxS in Nov 2023. Rode all over for 2 days. Moved to Mt. Withington Wilderness area for a few days. Finished out in Manzano area before heading home. Glad I found your channel. I did a lot of research of NM before traveling from Houston for that week of vacation and it was tough to find good intel or footage of the areas I was looking at. I plan on re-visiting Mar. 2024. Good Times.
'Promo sm' 🌟
That is one cool canyon. Thanks for the video. Really like the drone shots too. I sure like the music too.
Sweet videos !
It's near me (Socorro) and I've never been!
It didn't look too bad, just slow and steady. Looks like only a couple spots around the 10 minute mark +/-. In real time how long did that take and how's the Jeep. My dad has a 2005, straight 6 with about 68K on it. Told him not to sell it. Sat for five years with an electrical problem. Pro mechanics couldn't figure it out. I found it in about 5 minutes, parasitic draw coming from the indoor light. Just pulled the fuse...fixed..
You should check out the silverton area in Colorado ;) awesome 4x4 trails all over and old mines etc everywhere, really f*n cool!
Yeah been there before. It is to great.
I really like the video. The music is great!
How far back is the abandoned town of Rosedale from 107?
There’s not anything there except 1 old chimney. But a few miles
@@overland505 Thanks for the reply. I would still like to check it out. Did you start your route off 107?
@@Brian.A.Simmons yes

I've been in the canyon several times but your drone work makes it look completely different. Thanks for the video.
What lift and tire size?
4” iro front long arm lift and 32” tires
It was nice to see some trucks out there that day. That was my brother and I on the TW200 and Himalayan. Great footage.
Thanks. I don’t know how the heck you can ride through that stuff.
Thanks for sharing, might have to check it out soon. OnX show 8hrs for 157 miles, seems awful quick, is that before the flood?
157 miles?
@@overland505 yea just what I’m seeing on OnX, looks like a great time though
It’s only about 25 miles long.
@@overland505 ok thank you for the info and the video bud
Thanks for the video. It looks to me that the flood sure changed the trail. I've been thinking about trying it next month. I haven't been in that area since May last year. I really liked the music in this one.
It looked similar to the difficulty it used to be before the washout/repairs?
No, you didn’t even need 4wd before to get through. We’ve done it numerous times before. About the only part that needed 4wd before was when you turned and went up out of the canyon. There have been no repairs and more than likely won’t be as it’s now a motorized trail and not a forest road anymore.
Don’t let the camera fool you, it makes everything look flatter.
The first video of yours that I watched was going West out of Mogollon. It had great music & drone shots.
Glad you enjoyed it
Very cool!
WOW. What a big bunch of Colman gear. Thanks for the video. I never get to hear about events like this until after they are over.
Another great edit Allen!
Cool ride. We're gonna need some new music though.
be carful
Another great video Allen!
How strange. I live up Gutierrez Canyon, about 4 miles North of this trail. I decided to stay home that day and stay out of the heat. Seems like I run this trail once or twice a year since it's so close.
Overland505, hi-amazing footage- :))
Many thanks!
Good video with good music. Thanks!
Thanks
I like the music. It must be 5 years ago when I did this mountain drive. Thanks for posting the trip up there.
Looks great! Where did you stay?
We didn’t. Just a day trip.
But there are lots of nice camps in the area.
