#45 Sheila Drevna-A Story of Perseverance
zhlĂ©dnutĂ 303Pƙed 4 hodinami
Sheila Drevna woke up one early morning unable to use her hands and feet, and even lost her sight over the next few weeks. Doctors said she'd never walk again. Scary stuff. But Sheila is a calm, matter-of-fact and determined woman, and today she is an award winning longarm quilter, with a business and blog of her own. Lucky for us she loves to teach and pass on what she has learned - both in he...

For Belle Brunner, quilting began as a hobby at the onset of the 2020 pandemic and as a way to create joy for not only herself, but for others by gifting them quilty goodness. Nice problem to have! Has Madeira metallic worked well on your longarm? If so, do you match your bobbin and make any stitch setting adjustments? I’m making some Christmas wall hangings and would like to partially quilt them with metallic thread. Thank you!

Several years ago, I owned a Nolting that wasn't happy unless I had some at least one tension problem. My solution to be sure my bobbin thread was behaving was a small hand held mirror and a small flash light, worked like a dream.

I iron all my pieces in half BEFORE I sew them together for the long binding strip. Once sewn I trim and press just the seams. I then fold accordion style. I lay that on my lap at the sewing machine and nothing gets tangled as I sew it on the quilt.

While I grant that many find this a helpful aid, I did some research on the chemical compounds of vodka. I found that there is absolutely no starch residue in vodka-potato or otherwise. (Distillation process eliminates). It is essentially ethanol and water and some additive based on distiller.. The properties of ethanol are likely conveying the attractive qualities.
